Charge equalization of rx 2 3 via usb. Wismec RX GEN3 Review – Successful Upgrade

I decided to try to write a review of the Wismec Reuleaux RX2/3 box mod, which is interesting in my opinion. A review on the topic of electronic cigarettes, so if you don’t like this topic, don’t go to the cat.

I found the new Reuleaux from Wismec while I was looking for a replacement for the lost Sigelei Fuchai 213. I took it because of the ability to choose between compactness and autonomy depending on the situation: it can be used with two or three batteries.

Characteristics from the manufacturer's website:

  • Size: 40.2*34.5*88.7mm (2 batteries) 40.2*50.1*88.7mm (3 batteries)
  • 510 connector with spring loaded pin
  • Batteries: 18650 with a current rating of at least 25A
  • Operating modes: VW/TC-Ni/TC-Ti/TC-SS/TCR Mode
  • Operating power: 1-150W (for 2 cells)/1-200W (for 3 cells)
  • Operating resistance: 0.05-1.5ohm for thermal control mode 0.1-3.5ohm for variable watt mode
  • Temperature range in temperature control mode: 100-315°C / 200-600°F
At that time, I bought it for $41.74, and perhaps there were still fashions left at the same price. The purchase arrived in Moscow in 12 days, delivered by courier to work. Gibest packs packages poorly, but I ordered a bunch of other things and therefore the box arrived undamaged.

Purchase screen

The kit included a mod, a cover for two batteries, a cover for three batteries, waste paper and USB cables. I didn’t take pictures of the contents of the box, everything there is standard.

Let's look at the mod itself:

The design retains all the features of the RX series, only the gray and white parts have been swapped. The screen came from the previous version of the RX200S, the buttons were clearly taken from the RX75. JayBo engraved on the button.
With two batteries, the mod is very compact and fits well in the hand. Probably one of the most convenient mods for two batteries.

In “thick mode” we get a standard “ryxa” with 3 batteries, but slightly higher than its previous versions. The mod becomes heavy and thick, it feels strange in your hand, but over time you get used to it. If you throw such a thing at a person, you can easily kill him :-)

Connector 510, standard for this series, I read complaints about it somewhere, but I have no problems. The photo shows a version with a “thick” lid.

At the bottom of the mod there is a button that opens the lid. The lids closed with difficulty at first, but then they apparently got used to it and began to close much easier.

In “thin” mode, with Sony VTC5 installed, the mod weighs 240 grams.

In “thick” mode, with Sony VTC5 installed, the mod weighs 320 grams.

The display is bright enough and large, allowing all the necessary information to fit on the screen. The vertical position of the display allows you to read all the information without turning the mod itself over. You can also upload your own logo (size 64x48) through the firmware program.

The mod for the four is assembled, the buttons rattle when shaking, the gaps are uneven. Also, in my mod there is a piece of yellow tape(?) peeking out from the top. I tried to show it in the photo, but it didn’t turn out very well.

The lid latches are plastic, I don’t know how long they will last. If you try to move the display up or down with your finger, it moves slightly.

Control:

  • On/off - 5 clicks.
  • Menu - 3 quick presses.
  • Menu navigation – minus button.
  • Change in menu - plus button.
  • When the TCRM mode is flashing, you can press the “minus” button, and then the “plus” button to select your preset thermal control modes.
  • Disable the logo - the “plus” button and the “fire” button together and then the “plus” button again.
  • Turn the screen upside down - turn off the mod, hold down the plus button and the minus button.
  • Setting your TK values – turn off the mod, hold down the “plus” button and the “fire” button.
  • Stealth mode – hold down the “minus” button and the “fire” button together for 2 seconds.
  • Lock the power in wattage – press the “minus” button and the “plus” button together for 2 seconds.
  • Blocking the resistance in the TC - go to the menu mode, select the resistance with the “minus” and block it with the “plus”.
  • View the temperature inside the mod - turn off the mod, press the “fire” button 10 times.
  • View the firmware version - turn off the mod and press the “fire” button 20(!) times.
  • Check the voltage on the batteries - turn off the mod, hold down the minus button and the fire button.

Features:

The mod is very honest, the power shows only that which it can actually deliver. The batteries are connected in series. Therefore, it will not be possible to connect 2 batteries and then pick up a third one. You can charge the device via the USB port (mod manufacturers traditionally do not recommend doing this) and update the firmware. There is no charging balancer; if the batteries have a voltage difference of more than 0.3 V, then when you connect the USB cable, the mod will display the message “Imbalanced Batteries” and will not charge.

Pros and cons of the mod:

The mod fits perfectly in the hand. I had several mods with 2 batteries and this one is the most convenient. If we attach a third battery, we will get a fat monster with which it is convenient to float, for example, at a party or at home on the computer. I also really liked the large and bright screen. The manufacturer releases new firmware for the mod, and fans on specialized sites make patches for them, which allows you to slightly customize the mod for yourself.

What I really didn't like were the plastic latches inside the mod. I'm afraid this will negatively affect the survivability of the closing mechanism. And if you consider that the mod does not work without a cover, a breakdown of the mechanism can be fatal. Charging without a balancer forces you to buy an external charger. These are probably all the cons that I have found so far.
Now let's move on to the positives. The mod fits perfectly in the hand. I have had many mods with 2 batteries and this one is the most convenient. If we attach a third battery, we will get a fat monster, with which it is convenient to float, for example, at a party. I also really liked the large and bright screen.

Wismec Reuleaux rx2/3 is a battery mod for 2 and 3 batteries, about which there is a lot of noise, because it is something new for people. What to buy? Reuleaux 200s or Reuleaux rx2/3? Feedback on the work of the mod, pros and cons, and useful materials.

How I got to Wismec Reuleaux rx2/3

In the summer of 2016, the topic of vaping became a trend, replacing tobacco smoke with sweet vapor, supposedly it is not harmful to health, you can quit smoking and vaping is cool. Later, after the wave of popularity, the time came for hate on this topic and it was a shame to take out the device on the street.

I didn’t “steam” while smoking a hookah, but I wanted something mobile, because you can’t carry a hookah with you. Then I bought myself a Wismec Reuleaux rx2/3 device, because it had 200.

Design and usability

When choosing a mod, you pay attention to the design and how convenient it will be for you to use the device. Everything is fine here with the rx2/3, the device fits perfectly in the hand with any cover for the battery pack.

The screen is protected by a film and when you press something sharp on it, do not be alarmed by the white bubbles that appear, the screen is intact.

The buttons in the case do not rattle, they work clearly and as they should.

Tank installation and connector problems

China, this is China. The assembly for such a price is not distinguished by its durability; everything can be broken.

Problems with pins occur on devices:

  • the connector does not see the atomizer
  • falls inside.

If Reuleaux rx2/3 does not see the atomizer, then try to work some magic with the pin on the back of the atomizer, there may be no contact.

If the pin fails, then you should contact the service center, return the device to the store for replacement with a new one, or use guides on YouTube to fix the problem.

Do not pay attention that the instructions for Wosmex RX200S and the internals of the devices are the same.

Battery compartment

There is a lot of hype about the fact that the device can accommodate 2 or 3 18650 batteries, although the hype is unnecessary. Make a choice for the user that will be convenient for him; 2 or 3 batteries are only a plus, but not a minus. Not buying a device just because you love the RX series because it has 3 batteries and “the philosophy of the series is ruined” is simply stupid.

The lid fits tightly and of course, some models have gaps. Even I sometimes have batteries visible through the gap, but this is not noticeable and does not spoil the appearance of the device.

New fasteners are a necessity with this design. It’s strange to shout that now there are no magnetic fasteners without thinking about how the magnets would hold the third battery and close the contacts tightly.

USB charging

The RX200/RX200S caught fire when charging via USB, this can be explained by a damaged wire during assembly, a factory defect, poor quality charging, or the stars aligned.

I charge the rx2/3 with 2 batteries via USB using a quality PS4 USB cable and a 1A iPhone charger. The mod takes 6 hours to charge without any problems. I put it on charge in the evening, 100% in the morning.

I do not recommend charging from low-quality chargers or using bad wires. I think everyone has a USB cable that shorts out when charging, this manifests itself when charging the phone when the screen does not respond to presses. So, once when I tried to charge the mod this way, the wire sucked all the power out of the batteries, which led to imbalance and subsequent restoration of the batteries using an external charger.

My advice to you is buy an external charger, despite the fact that the manufacturer’s website states that 3 batteries can be charged via USB.

When using a 2 battery mod, you won't be able to just add 1 battery and use 3 batteries at once. This will be bad for the batteries and the mod, because the battery charge cycles will be different. You will need to have at least 5 18650 batteries with you.

RX200S or RX2/3

Decide for yourself what you want. Autonomy or mobility. I would like to note that the RX200S is not so mobile and it is not always convenient to carry a mod with 3 18650 batteries. The advantage of the RX2/3 is the large selection of colors; all popular colors are in the new line.

Also, the RX200S is cheaper by an average of 1000 rubles, which may also be a decisive factor.

Firmware mod

The mod's firmware is installed using a program from the official website.

  1. Download the firmware and unpack it to your desktop
  2. Connect the mod via USB to your PC
  3. Run the firmware file

Where to buy Reuleaux rx2/3

It was stupid to buy some kind of device in Russia, because by ordering a mod from a Chinese site you get a mod, but without a markup in the store. I would like to mention that at the time of my order the device had just been announced and was simply not available in Russia.

Wismec RX GEN3 is a continuation of the “Ryxy” line. At one time, everyone who became interested in vaping was chasing after ryx-like devices.

The device arrived from an electronic store Vapesourcing and we thank them for presenting the sample!

The Wismec Reuleaux RX GEN3 300w is available in five color options.

The box indicates the contents and has a scratch code to check originality. Under the top cover you can find a box mod, as well as detailed instructions on how to operate the device in 10 languages, incl. There is also a Russian language, a USB cable for changing the firmware and recharging.

Information for your information

Wismec RX GEN3 made of anodized aluminum and stainless steel and powered by three 18650 batteries, while maintaining compact dimensions even in 2018 and early 2019, retaining the title of the smallest electronic box mod with three batteries, designed to fit atomizers up to 25 mm without levitation , in variable watt mode it rises from 0.05 Ohm, comes in both a kit version with a Gnome tank, and just a mod.

Review

The top fits for atomizers up to 25 mm; if the diameter of the tanks is larger, then there will be sides.

If you look at the box mod from above, the famous Reuleaux triangle immediately catches your eye. In the upper part there is a connector, which in this device is pressed in from below and we really hope that it will last a long time and will not be torn out “with meat” like the one.

On the side is the manufacturer's name - Wismec - and there are slots for cooling the board. On the front panel there is a fire button on top with the inscription Jay Bo, and at the bottom there are “-” and “+” buttons, as well as a port for connecting a cable.

At the bottom is the battery compartment, in which all the pins are spring-loaded. The battery cover has holes for gas outlet. The lid is well made and clicks nicely, fits tightly to the body and leaves no gaps.

The inside of the lid has a contact group and this to some extent gives it strength. There is also a battery numbering with numbers “1”, “2”, “3”, and the display shows information about the charge of each battery.

If you shake the mod, the buttons do not ring or wobble, and there are no extraneous sounds.

As for the display, we can say that it is large, has a 1.3-inch OLED screen, very informative thanks to large letters and numbers. True, the screen is black and white and pixelated and this may upset some.

The screen displays information about the vaping mode, power, voltage, winding resistance, number of puffs, and current. At the very bottom of the display is information about the status of your batteries. You can see which battery is discharged the most.

Dimensions
Height -79 mm /113.7 mm (with Gnome tank)
Thickness -39.3 mm
Width -48.8 mm
Weight without batteries – 146 g.

The device can be charged with a current of up to 2 A. If we talk about the operating resistance, it varies in the range from 0.1 to 3.5 Ohms in variable watt mode, and in thermal control - from 0.05 to 1.5 Ohms.

The device provides all degrees of protection and has operating modes: variable watt, thermal control, bypass.

The device can be used in Power Bank mode.
To turn on the device, press fire five times. Three times on fire and you can go to the submenu and use the “+” button to scroll through the modes. If you press “-” and fire at the same time, you can switch to a mode where the display goes out and the mod works. This way you can save battery power, for example on a sunny day.

General impression of the device review

Vismec Gen3 rightfully received the status of the most compact device in the world of vaping with 3 18650 mAh batteries in 2017 and a year later retained this title.

Compact, autonomous and powerful. The manufacturer claims that the mod can accelerate to 300 W. However, there is no need to set it above 150 W, since vaping becomes no longer comfortable due to the hot steam.

There is one drawback that the manufacturer may correct over time. If you steam drips on oily windings for 5-10 minutes without a break, the mod will heat up. It is the part where the screen is located that heats up. The display may be heating up, although most likely the heat is coming from the board. Therefore, you should not use the device intensively for more than 5 minutes on “fat” conditions, because There is a possibility of the board failing.

Cons and pros:

Minuses:
— if you vape for more than 5 minutes, the board heats up when vaping on fatty builds, if you vape 0.15 Ohm for more than 15 minutes, the board also starts to heat up a lot,
-the screen is protected by plastic, which is very soft and bends when pressed with a finger, there is a possibility that it may crack,
- uneven discharge of batteries, two batteries discharge faster and one discharges slower,
-the area for the connector is painted and over time chips and scratches from drips and atomizers will be noticeable.
Pros:
-the connector platform allows you to seat atomizers with a diameter of up to 25.5 mm, there are no sides, nothing hangs down,
-the connector is pressed in from the inside and will not be torn out of the body when unscrewing the atomizer,
-in terms of design and ergonomics, this is the best device in vaping in the summer of 2017 with 3 batteries of 18650 mAh, while there are no competitors in terms of how it fits in the hand and size, ergonomics and design are the main components that will attract new vapers and cause they want to buy gene3,
— via the USB port you can charge, reflash and use the device in Passthrough mode (paste),
— battery discharge is on average 3.2 V, i.e. somewhere up to 3.15 - 3.22 V, and this is an excellent indicator of autonomy,
-charges batteries via a USB cable almost evenly; if one battery is more discharged than the others, the device first charges the more discharged battery,
-it is possible to charge the device with a current of 2 A, and this is considered to be fast charging, although on the official website the manufacturer recommends charging the batteries via stationary charging.

Wismec Reuleaux RX2/3

It would seem that the RX series devices no longer need any introduction. But some questions still arise, and we decided to dispel them. This time we'll be taking a look at the latest model released by Wismec, the Wismex Reuleaux 2/3.

At first glance, it seems that this is another update to the model, but in fact it is a completely different device, the first of its kind. This mod can run on either two or three 18650 batteries. The second cover included in the kit helps with this.

The default cover is now not only a cover, but also holds a third battery. It can be replaced by a second lid, a lid in the classical sense. It doesn't hold anything, it just covers the battery compartment. In this version, the mod becomes compact and surprisingly comfortable in the hand.

The rest of the mod parameters have not changed since the Wismex Reuleaux 200s. The same large information screen, the same board. The sizes have changed. Mod has become taller.

Dimensions: 40.2*34.5*88.7 mm (for 2 batteries)
Dimensions: 40.2*50.1*88.7 mm (for 3 batteries)

There is now a button on the bottom of the case; you won’t be able to open the lid without pressing it. Also, the mod now does not work when the lid is open, we played it safe.

Power: 1-150W (for 2 batteries)/1-250W (for 3 batteries)

To increase the power to 250 mods you will have to flash it, during the flashing you can also put your logo on the screen.
You can charge via USB without fear.

Basically, that's all you should be concerned about if you're thinking about replacing your not-so-old RX200s. If you want to have one mod that can be both compact and autonomous, this is your choice.

Good day to all!
and so my search for a mod ended =))
The choice was between Cuboid 150W TC, Istick 100w TC or Wismec RX200
RX200 immediately disappeared immediately
The manufacturer writes: "Attention: you cannot charge the mod via the USB port, this will lead to the failure of the mod. The USB port is intended only for updating the firmware.
To charge the batteries, you need to purchase an external charger."
now more details
Cuboid
+ screen
- weight
- ringing button
- bottom cover
- price
istick
+ fire button hidden under the battery cover
+ battery covers with magnets (there is not much play, but not critical - they fit tightly)
+ mechanical locking
+ feels nicer in the hand (I liked it better than the cuboid)
- haven’t discovered it yet

Why the hell do you have a drip type =) should you fight in vaper duels? In fact, Atom Just 2 is not bad, it blows very well if you blow without this ring at 0.3 ohm, but it sucks on liquid =(

In the meantime, the Kangertech sub box mini 50w set is in service, the cigarette puff is very good, and the IJust 2 fries well, too, like fur only with short-circuit protection =)

I’m thinking about switching to drippers, I also want to take the Wismec RX200 and try it.

How does a 100 watt istick perform? And how is it charged with two batteries?

drip type if you measure 38mm from the tank, it’s still average)) and the steam is not so hot
The batteries are not yet fully charged, the charge was enough for almost 1.5 days at 0.5 ohms, and if you add another 30W, then the liquid consumption is much less
at 100W there is nothing to test on yet))

Take the drip smoking-shop.ru/catalog/a…lya_dripa_ehpro_nixon_v2/ don’t take it as an advertisement for the site, I really like it, yesterday I looked at the reviews, the choice is already between a cuboid istick for 100 watts and px 200, px they say it charges the batteries in 10 hours =(

Yes, I myself made a choice among these models...
If 10 hours of charging is annoying, then you need a charger
and until you touch them with your hands, you won’t understand what you like more =))
but I don’t want a drip tip, I need it with a tank

A normal unit for little money!

great price for such a device))

Yes, I was lucky, the Chinese were generous for the reviews, they gave me bonuses, so I paid for some of them

and I'm waiting for the rx200 with a case, I got it for 2200 :)) (bragged)

Hello! Where did you order?

On Gearbest, don’t go there - they lowered the price tag to 59, on the contrary, on fastek it dropped a little to 40

No, delivery is free!

I have never ordered this price including delivery or not? It’s just that if delivery of a ruble costs 1500, it’s easier to take cash on delivery in the Russian Federation =)

It's better to pay via PayPal

Today I picked up a brick like this from the post office (before that I had a 30W iStick). Now I need to get stainless steel and master thermal control

why stainless steel and not titanium or nickel?

They say stainless steel tastes better

But you can’t burn nickel, and it’s somehow spectacled to smoke it when you know that some kind of oxide film can form on it, which is not good

It is better to take out the lithium-batteries from the device and then charge the cells.
Moreover, it can also be charged via USB cable.
Where does it say that it’s only for firmware? don't lie to people about the rx200, I charge it calmly and nothing happened to it

Yes, there was no intention of deceiving anyone here...
We figured it out already, read a little lower =))

I'm waiting for one, I ordered it for myself, but I think it will be too big for me

yes, not small...
I got used to it in a day =))

I now have the previous stick 100, I took it for a spin while I’m waiting for my order, it’s not very convenient after stick 60)

well, yes, the 60th will be smaller...
It was completely unusual for me after age2

yes, all you have to do is wait until it arrives, use it, and then think about selling it or leaving it and taking a vitamin

HammerG! I have the same one, black!)))

I liked the white one with black caps and how it looks =))

I haven’t tried it on one yet, and it will somehow work longer on two =))
By the way, there is already firmware up to 120W

on the offsite from 15 Feb.
Eleaf just released a new firmware V1.10 for iStick TC100W.

This new firmware allows a higher output power of 120W.

Have you tried it on one battery? Judging by the description, this mod can produce up to 75W with one battery, and up to 100 with 2 batteries. You can try installing one at a time, one at a time, especially since you are vaping at low power - in theory it should last longer.

It gives 75 on one, the rest of course depends on the battery. I got 0.41A on a half-empty 66 for an atom

Where about the charging ban?

I was also concerned about charging the px via USB. I carried out the first charging in laboratory conditions, shoved the mod into a pan))) But nothing, everything works fine, does not overheat, does not spark, and certainly does not explode. And all because you don’t need to use chargers with a current of more than 1A for charging, use USB from your computer and everything will be ok.

theoretically, the board on the mod should itself limit the current to no more than 1A if the charging produces more, but in practice, depending on your luck...

I've heard about this more than once, in almost every review.

I wrote to Vismek support, the answer was that you can charge via USB, 5V 1A...
There are a couple of burnt mods at most... Possibly from pasture or from falls or some other extreme... History is silent about this... In the profile thread of Rex Sigtolk, there are very few burnt from USB for specific statistics, namely that they burn from a charge on USB...

WHERE? Well, WHERE did you see such a warning from the manufacturer of the RX-200?
I charge my RX only from USB. I checked it specially - it charges up to 4.2 in all 3 elements exactly. Plants evenly too. LG batteries 3 AH. I read the paper manual, where it says “USB port: firmware update / charging” in white and English.
There is a point that you need to use all 3 identical elements with the same capacity and preferably with the same number of cycles worked. When the voltage difference between the elements reaches 0.3V, the mod goes into the Disbalance error, but this is normal and if the conditions are met, this does not occur at all.
Where about the charging ban?

there is a lot written about this on ecigtalk...
It seems that in the first “crude” mods there was such a problem, either the wires were thin, or the board was faulty, and because of this, almost all online stores and other sales tents say that you can’t charge via USB
yes, on the website it says that you can charge
I apologize, I was wrong! =))

In this article we will look at all the questions regarding how to properly charge an electronic cigarette. Without charging, your vape device will work offline for a maximum of a day with regular use. But the batteries in an e-cigarette are somewhat different from the power sources of other devices. What is the difference? Let's figure it out.

About charging methods

The battery is the most important part of the vape device, because it is thanks to it that your electronic cigarette works and creates steam! Proper use of the battery will extend its life and provide maximum comfort during daily use. To understand how to charge your device, you first need to understand what types of charging exist for modern electronic cigarettes.

There are only three main types:

  • Charging via central 510 connector.
  • Charge via micro-USB connector.
  • Charging batteries in a separate charger.

To identify the pros and cons of each type of charging, let's look at each of them in more detail.

Charging connector in the central connector 510

This type of charging method is rapidly becoming obsolete, it was extremely common and was used quite successfully. Electronic cigarettes of the eGo format are charged via the 510 connector. Examples of such devices are: Kanger Evod 650 mAh, Joyetech eCom-C Twist.

The only advantage of such a charging system is the absence of additional holes and joints on the power supply housing and its compact size.

  • The first disadvantage is the need to disassemble the device every time it is charged.
  • Another disadvantage is the mandatory presence of a special charger.
  • And the last drawback is the inability to use the device while charging.

Micro-USB connector

Most modern electronic cigarette power sources are charged via the micro-USB connector. The convenience and versatility of this scheme are so great that it is used both on pen-style cigarettes and box mods. A USB charging connector is installed in such devices as: Eleaf iJust 3, Ehpro Evok 80, Kanger Kbox 200W.

  • Versatility and accessibility. Almost everyone has a cable with a micro-USB connector.
  • There is no need to disassemble the device to charge it.
  • On a number of devices with a micro-USB connector, there is a hovering function while charging.

The objective disadvantage of charging via USB is that not all devices powered by more than one 18650 battery cannot be adequately recharged in this way.

Charging batteries in a separate device

Most electronic boards installed in e-cigarette mods with a power of 150 watts or more are not able to cope with charging the batteries inside the device, since charging two or three 18650 batteries can overheat and burn the board. Therefore, even if such an electronic mod has a micro-USB connector, its batteries must be charged in an external charger. Some manufacturers specifically include a clause in the instructions that says “The micro-USB connector is intended exclusively for software updates.”

External devices for recharging batteries usually operate “from a wall outlet”, since they require more voltage to charge several 18650 batteries at once. In such charging stations, special electronics are installed that fully control the process and make it as high quality as possible.

Some of the most well-known manufacturers producing reliable and high-quality chargers are NItecore and Efest. The chargers they produce meet all the necessary standards and do their job perfectly. Today the most popular among them is:

The Efest LUC V4 charger is a universal station for powering batteries of different sizes. You can install different types of batteries at the same time. The gadget is equipped with all kinds of protections that prevent unpleasant situations when charging the battery. The charger is compact in size, so it will not take up much space in your bag or on your desktop.

  • An external charger, equipped with the necessary electronics, recharges as correctly as possible, increasing the service life of the batteries.
  • Externally charged batteries have the same voltage, which ensures better performance.
  • If you have more than one set of batteries for your device, you can charge the batteries “in reserve.”
  • This charging method requires an outlet, which is not always convenient.
  • The devices are relatively large in size and are really inconvenient to carry around.

How to charge my e-cigarette?

We have already found out that the charging method depends on the specific model of the Vape device. Modern battery mods and electronic cigarettes with built-in batteries can only be charged via a micro-USB connector. Examples of such devices are Ijust 3, Eleaf Ipower 80W, Tesla Nano 100W TC Steampunk.

Charging the batteries of electronic mods without a micro-USB connector (or if the connector is not intended for charging) is carried out only in an external charger. Devices of this type: Smoktech Koopor Mini 60W TC, Tesla Invader 3, SMOK GX2/4 KIT. When purchasing such devices for the first time, do not forget to purchase a charger for them from the manufacturers Efest or Nitecore.

The most important question concerns battery mods for two or more batteries that have a USB connector for charging. As mentioned above, it is possible to charge batteries inside such devices, but it is not safe, both for the devices themselves and for you.

Important! Before charging the device, study all the information about your device, which is in the instructions and on the manufacturer’s official website.

Typically, if a vape has a charging port and a power rating of 100 watts or higher, the manufacturer itself recommends charging the batteries separately, despite the built-in charging system. The clearest example of such a mod is Wismec RX200. There are exceptions to this rule, for example, iStick TC 100W from Eleaf, which, due to the parallel connection of batteries, can be charged via USB without any problems.

Important! Do not attempt to charge a disposable e-cigarette. As practice has shown, this can cause damage to your health and property! Disposable e-cigarettes must be disposed of after use!

Mod for one battery: USB or external charging?

Devices powered by a single 18650 battery with a quick-swap battery can confuse a vaping newbie, leaving them with the question, “How exactly should the mod be charged?” In fact, there is no difficulty here. The control electronics of small vape devices with one battery are quite capable of recharging it from almost any USB and there is no need to buy an external charger.

However, if you want to vape non-stop, then to extend the life of the battery, it would certainly be better to purchase another battery and charge it externally. This is due to the fact that using the device while charging (the so-called passthrough function), although extremely convenient, somewhat reduces the life of your battery.

What if I don't have a charger?

It also happens that your device suddenly runs out of charge, but you don’t have a charger with you. In this case, there are several options:

– Carry a microUSB cable with you if your vape device has a corresponding connector. The modern world is filled with various gadgets with a USB socket, and if you have a cable with you, you can connect to any device that has a voltage release function. Remember that the charging current should not exceed 1 Ampere! – If you use a mechanical mod, then in such a situation there is only one way out - to carry an additional battery with you, preferably several at once, since mechanical mods consume a large amount of energy.

We strongly DO NOT recommend that you use “makeshift” methods of charging the battery (different terminals, wires connected to other power sources). Without special knowledge, you risk damaging your battery or, worse, causing great harm to your health. It is always better to use safe ways to replenish battery energy - special chargers.

Summary:

Charging via the 510 connector is an outdated scheme that will inevitably leave the vaping world in the very near future. The most universal way is to charge the batteries inside the mod via a USB connector. This system is used on almost all “pen-style” electronics and box mods with one 18650 battery. External charging provides longer service life, faster charging speed, and safety. It is better to charge batteries of all mods with a power of 150-200 Watts in special chargers.

Always refer to the manufacturer's official instructions before charging your e-cigarette. This is the key to your safety and long service life of the vape device.

The Reuleaux RX2/3 box mod from Wismec is a device that largely replicates another creation of the company - Reuleaux RX200S. However, Reuleaux RX2/3 has implemented a very interesting feature of working with either two or three removable batteries. This is achieved through replaceable covers that change the capacity of the battery compartment. It is because of this function that the box mod was named Reuleaux RX2/3, that is, a choice between two or three batteries.

Like many devices from Wismec, the new mod was created under the supervision of JayBo, a famous creator and designer of electronic cigarettes. Reuleaux RX2/3 is designed primarily for experienced vapers, as it has a high maximum vaping power and a full range of modern functions, as well as large dimensions and weight. With three batteries installed, the mod “produces” 200 W of power, and with two - 150 W.

Appearance

up

The design of the Reuleaux RX2/3 is borrowed from the Reuleaux RX200S model, which vapers are very fond of. The shape of the device resembles a diamond with rounded corners, so the box mod fits well in the hand. The dimensions of the Reuleaux RX2/3 vary depending on how many batteries are used. The height is 88.7 mm, the thickness is 40.2 mm, and the width is 50.1 mm for three batteries and 34.5 for two batteries. Thanks to this feature, the version with two batteries becomes more compact, lighter and easier to use. However, the mod is not suitable for inconspicuous vaping in any configuration.

The body of the mod is made of aluminum alloy and can be painted in one of six colors: black, white, gold, black-gray, black-red or grey-mint. The assembly of the device is excellent - nothing rattles or dangles, however, vapers note that the battery compartment cover has become less convenient, since it is now attached to a mechanical latch rather than magnets.

Functionality

up

Variwatt

From 1 to 150 W (2 batteries) and from 1 to 200 W (3 batteries). The change step is 0.1 W; when you hold the button, the speed of power change increases. In variwatt mode, the bocm mod works flawlessly.

Temperature control (TC)

100 to 315 °C or 200 to 600 °F. The change step is 5 and 10 degrees, respectively. By default, windings made of steel, nickel and titanium are supported; you can also manually specify three metals by setting the resistance coefficient for them (TCR mode). In TK mode, you can block the resistance or manually set the power.

Since the Reuleaux RX2/3 is based on the same proven board as the Reuleaux RX200S, the temperature control mode does not cause any complaints and works like a clock.

Sabom

Reuleaux RX2/3 supports resistance in the range of 0.05 - 1.5 Ohms in TC mode and 0.1 - 3.5 Ohms in vari-watt mode.

Since the mod is very wide, any clearomizers and drips are perfect for it. For example, recently popular devices with a diameter of 25 mm.

Battery

Reuleaux RX2/3 runs on two or three 18650 batteries. The mod requires batteries with a current output of 25 A. The batteries are connected in series, so you won’t be able to vape on one battery.

You can charge the batteries either in a separate charger or directly in the mod via a USB port. Reuleaux RX2/3 charges the batteries internally quite smoothly, although it does not have charge balancing. However, experienced vapers recommend using a separate charger for all mods with three batteries. The maximum charging current for Reuleaux RX2/3 is 1 A.

The Reuleaux RX2/3 does not have a paste function, so vaping while charging is not recommended. The battery compartment contacts are spring loaded. The cover is attached not with magnets, but with a mechanical latch, which is why it fits more tightly to the body.

The minimum battery voltage is 3.1 V.

Display

The Reuleaux RX2/3 has a large 0.96-inch OLED display. The information is displayed in a list format, so it is very clear and easy to understand. The screen shows the battery capacity (in percentage or with an indicator of your choice), resistance, voltage, power, temperature, mode name and additional information to choose from: current strength, number of puffs taken or total vaping time.

The display can be flipped or turned off, and you can also enable the display of a logo, which will replace the main parameter for the mode. When changing a parameter, numbers will be displayed, after a few seconds - a logo.

Connector

510 steel connector with brass spring loaded pin.

Protection

Reuleaux RX2/3 has a full range of protections:

  • from short circuit;
  • from high/low voltage;
  • from high/low resistance;
  • from board overheating;
  • from overheating of the evaporator (cut-off at 10 seconds);
  • from improper installation of batteries;
  • from battery imbalance;
  • ventilation holes to remove gases from batteries.

Upgradable firmware

Reuleaux RX2/3 can be updated by downloading the file from the manufacturer's official website. Updates are used to add new features and fix bugs. To update the firmware, you need to connect the mod to your computer via USB and run the file, after which the program will do everything on its own. When updating the firmware, you can also set your own logo to be displayed on the screen.

The latest firmware at the time of publication (4.13) increases the maximum vaping power for two batteries to 200 W, for three - up to 250 W, and also adds a coil preheating function.

Control

up

Reuleaux RX2/3 is controlled using the Fire, “+” and “-” buttons. Turn the device on and off by pressing Fire five times. Pressing this button three times will switch to menu mode, in which you can select a line on the screen with the “-” button and interact with it with the “+” button. For example, if in the TC mode you select a line with resistance using “-”, then using the “+” button you can block or unblock it.

To turn off the screen, you need to hold down Fire and “-”. To lock the adjustment buttons, hold down “+” and “-”. Fire and “+” will open a menu for enabling or disabling the display of the logo.

When the device is turned off, the combination of “+” and “-” will allow you to flip the screen 180°. If you hold down Fire and “+”, the TCR preset settings menu will open. Fire and “-” will show the exact battery voltage. Pressing Fire multiple times (about 20 times) will display the installed firmware version.
