  • The first letter R/C/E indicates the type of shipment. The Georgian Post track number starting with the letter R (Registered) is assigned to registered small packages;
  • 123456785 – this digital series ensures the uniqueness of the number;
  • GE – indicates the country of the postal service.

How to receive a parcel in Georgia

The system is this: when the parcel arrives at the post office, they send you an SMS (or call) indicating the address where to pick up the parcel.

This is quite convenient, but sometimes the SMS is sent much later than the parcel reaches the department. Therefore, an alternative option is to choose a delivery method with tracking when ordering and go to the post office the next day after it arrives in your city using tracking.

Write down the tracking number on a piece of paper, take your passport with you - and voila! The post office does not charge any additional fees for its services.

How to correctly indicate the address

In order for the package to arrive at the address, it is not so important to indicate the correct address as the zip code and, of course, the telephone number. When ordering, I usually duplicate the phone number in the address column so that it is guaranteed to be on the envelope. I repeat: when the package arrives, you should receive a confirmation message.

As far as I know, there are 3 options for writing the index in Batumi. If you don’t know the exact one, write 6000, the parcel will arrive at the main office, and there it will be sent to the nearest branch to you.

There are also indexes 6004 and 6010.

Branch 6004 is located at st. Chavchavadze, 90.

6010 is located at st. Melashvili, 4. If you live in the old part of the city or somewhere near the Sheraton, write this index. And also, there is much less queue in this branch.

The post office is open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 17:00 and Saturday from 10:00 to 14:00.

EMS works well. I sent EMS documents to Belarus, they were delivered safely and exactly on time, which they promised me, the tracking was monitored.

It cost 60 lari versus 150 in DHL, and the difference in terms was literally a few days.

DHL

The DHL office in Batumi is located at st. May 26, 44. Opening hours: Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 18:30 and from 10:00 to 14:00 on Saturday.

They work well, you can pick up parcels at the office or they will deliver them to your home. They do not deliver outside the city. I received several parcels from Iherb via DHL.

I have experience with sunset via sendex.ge and it is quite mixed. On the one hand, they have very favorable prices (delivery of parcels from the USA - $6.5 per 1 kg) and in fact, we still received the goods, but what did it cost us)

Perhaps it’s just us who were unlucky, but the promised 5 working days turned into 3 weeks, during which the status of the parcel is completely unknown. I was told 3 times that it had already been sent and arrived in Tbilisi, when in fact it was still in the USA) The icing on the cake in the third week of waiting was the statement from the company representative in Batumi that it was no longer working) although in fact, the parcel was still delivered a week later the same sendex representative)

Their website and SMS distribution are only in Georgian. You have to use a translator, which doesn’t always help. In short, it was terribly inconvenient. Therefore, I cannot recommend them, and I cannot say that they are scammers either. Because we still received the parcel, although very late.
