Rumors that HTC are planning to release a communicator, designed for a female audience, have been around for a long time. And last week, the Taiwanese manufacturer finally announced its first phone for the fair sex, namely the HTC Rhyme. The design of the phone is very similar to other HTC models, the main difference lies in the color scheme and the key fob, which notifies you of incoming calls and messages. The model is presented in three colors - deep purple, silver-white and blue. On the back of the phone is a metal strip with a logo, typical of other models. Included with the device is a stylish wired headset.

In terms of technical specifications, the phone has a 1GHz processor, a 5-megapixel camera located on the back of the phone and capable of recording video in 720p HD quality. What's great about this camera is the ability to take pictures immediately - the waiting time between pressing and triggering the system is reduced to almost zero. The phone itself has a function that allows you to easily retouch photos. The device runs on the Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread operating system, on top of which runs the latest user interface developed by HTC - HTC Sense 3.5. HTC Rhyme has a 3.7-inch WVGA display. The content is decent, although not the most innovative compared to other phones presented a little earlier this year.

Of the nice additions is the Friend application, which allows you to view friends' updates on several social networks at once on one screen. The browser has also been improved - it is now possible to use multi-window viewing, and it also supports smoother playback of videos from the Internet and there is the ability to quickly go to Wikipedia or YouTube.

Directly, the Taiwanese manufacturer does not call its new smartphone HTC Rhyme ladies'. However, the female note can be traced here in all aspects so clearly that there is no doubt about the gender orientation of this model. Yes, and in the commercial of this model appear entirely female hands, famously controlled with a smartphone.

"Slickness" and even some "effeminacy" of forms and pastel colors are backed up by a set of accessories, the most unusual of which bears the unambiguous name Charm (charm). In autumn, we have a new product called HTC Bliss, but in the end we got Rhyme. Although the characteristics of the device itself turned out to be quite consistent with those that were announced. Inside it is a typical android smartphone, almost the same as the HTC Desire S, except for minor details. The technical marking of the model is S510b.

Delivery set and specifications

Depending on the color of the device itself, the accessories included in the package may also differ in color, but their set is constant. In our case, HTC Rhyme had a sandy color, and the rest of the set was distinguished by snow-white execution of absolutely all details. When buying, say, the lilac color variant, all accessories in the box will also be of this color.

The device comes in a white cardboard box with a single visible lettering on the outside and many compartments on the inside. In these compartments there is a considerable number of interesting and useful gizmos - from headphones that will never get confused, to a full-fledged docking station. There is also a snow-white leather case, and even a flashlight keychain on a cord. The bundle is more than rich, which, of course, could not but affect the total cost of the device, but more on that later.

Design and appearance

In total, at the moment, the communicator is available in three colors: turquoise, lilac and sand. The sandy Rhyme, which just appeared in our editorial office, has a light coffee shade, and this is perhaps the only color option for the novelty that suits the male half. It is the most neutral, but, as a result, not too bright and less noticeable. The other two, lilac and turquoise, definitely win against its background. However, color preferences are a purely individual matter, so we will not focus on this. One has only to add that the use of soft-touch materials gives any of the three colors depth and dullness. So due to its pastel shades, HTC Rhyme will stand out in any shop window and attract the admiring glances of the fair sex. In terms of visual design, the HTC Rhyme designers have done their job perfectly well.

At first, however, a certain disharmony appears in the mind at the first glance at the rear surface of the device, but this feeling quickly passes. It appears, apparently, due to the visual division of the back of the smartphone into three unequal sections with different shades of color. These three components appeared here due to the fact that the metal case of the device itself has a closed frame that forms a jumper in the back of the case. It is the middle of the three assorted parts that make up the back surface. The other two are covers made of plastic using the soft-touch effect already familiar to users and for some reason painted in different colors. Due to the dullness of the case, there can be no question of any fingerprints, except on the screen itself - the phone is absolutely not easily soiled.

The dimensions of HTC Rhyme, despite the obvious female focus, are not so small: the device is even slightly wider and half a centimeter longer than the same Desire S.

To tell the truth, due to the considerable width and thin without bends, the HTC Rhyme does not feel as comfortable in the hand as the Desire S. The one, due to the greater thickness and curvature of the case, fits better in the palm of your hand, unlike the completely flat and thin Rhyme. In general, the design genius of the NTS developers is starting to fail: the famous slight bend in the lower part has disappeared somewhere, which reliably protected the screen from contact with the surface and felt comfortable in the hand. Now we have a completely flat and absolutely even bar in all directions with rounded edges. As a result, the screen is completely attached and scratched on any surface if the phone is “face down”, and if it is the other way around, the external speaker hole is blocked, and the outgoing sound becomes barely audible.

Again, a certain dissonance between visual and physical perception arises when you take Rhyme in your hand and suddenly feel an unexpected heaviness for such a thin case. The communicator somehow feels even heavier than it actually is.

There are not so many control elements on the HTC Rhyme case, and their location is not quite usual for HTC. The two-position volume rocker "moved" to the right side of the communicator, and this is good news for lefties. With this arrangement of this key, holding the smartphone with your left hand has become more convenient.

The left side also did not remain empty: there is a Micro-USB connector, which for some reason is covered with a plug. The plug is ugly: it's just a hatch in plastic, and even with a notch for a nail - it looks untidy, visually reduces the cost of the device, and it is not clear why this was done at all. It would be better to leave an open connector and not be wiser.

On the top are: a 3.5 mm headphone jack, an additional microphone and a power button for the communicator, at the bottom there is only a microphone.

The front panel normally contains four touch keys at the bottom for interacting with the operating system and programs, and at the top - the front camera lens and sensors. The earpiece opening is just a thin, barely noticeable gap. Not a very elegant solution, and certainly not expensive. The large metal grille of HTC Desire S looked much brighter and more attractive.

But another design detail, on the contrary, greatly ennobles the appearance of the device. This is the frame under the glass around the screen, which is usually painted black and merges with the screen if it is off. In the case of HTC Rhyme, this frame has the same color as the case itself. In our case, it is light brown, like the body, and it looks really stylish.

The back side of the smartphone, as mentioned above, consists of three parts: a metal jumper with embossed letters "htc" and two plastic covers. The upper part contains, in addition to the eye of the camera and the flash, also a three-pin connector for connecting to the docking station. There is also an external call speaker, covered with a painted grille. Sound passing through this slot is muffled by the table surface, so the call may not be heard. Around the speaker grille, there is clearly a lack of some kind of ledge that raises the case above the surface.

The bottom part is a cover covering the compartments for the SIM card and memory card. The battery here is non-removable, so it will definitely not be possible to change it to a more powerful one, or at least just replace it at home.

The lid itself is made of plastic with a rather thick profile and is extremely tightly fixed on its latches - a very reliable and solid solution, traditional for HTC.

The verdict on the appearance of HTC Rhyme and its ease of use is ambiguous: on the one hand, everything suggests that the device was made with an eye on the female audience, and therefore with characteristic sophistication and elegance of forms. But in reality, this resulted only in an unusual color palette of colors. The device itself lost in practicality. The dimensions of the phone are large enough, the bend at the bottom has disappeared, and the plug of the connector is completely bewildering. However, all these little things are so insignificant that for many they can simply go unnoticed. True, the sound of the device lying on the table is really muffled by the surface, and this is no longer a trifle, but a serious drawback.

Screen and sound

The screen quality in HTC Rhyme is exactly the same as in HTC Desire S. The capacitive, touchscreen display of Super LCD type has physical dimensions of 49×81 mm and a resolution of 480×800 pixels. There are no complaints about the screen itself: the viewing angles are maximum, and the brightness margin is enough to keep this parameter at an average level or even give this setting to the machine. Separate dots at this resolution and a diagonal of 3.7 inches are not distinguishable by the eye. True, due to the fact that the smartphone itself is larger than the Desire S, especially in height, the screen does not occupy the entire surface and looks small on the front panel. Perhaps, the frame of the color of the case itself also plays a role here, which visually reduces the display even more.

The volume reserve of the external speaker is enough for any environment, if the phone is not “backward” on the table (then the sound is quite muffled by the surface). And in your pocket or bag, the phone will sound loud enough not to miss an incoming call. The auditory speaker transmits speech quite loudly, the words of the interlocutor are clearly distinguishable. Perhaps the voice on the other end does not sound quite natural - all the shades are missing, but this does not affect the quality of speech perception.

Camera

The communicator is equipped with a matrix with a resolution of 5 megapixels. The camera has an autofocus system and an LED flash. It is controlled only by software - HTC Rhyme does not have a separate hardware camera control button. It is in this model that the manufacturer himself emphasizes the speed of taking a picture, noting that with the new instantaneous camera, the moment you press the shutter button is the same moment when the picture is taken. Indeed, the response speed is high, and given that even in the state of the “locked” screen, it has a quick transition to shooting function, it is very difficult to miss a good shot.

The camera produces pictures of quite acceptable quality, and this is more than enough for a smartphone. Sometimes, however, the automation fails, and the white balance is set incorrectly - the frames go into outright blue. The camera control interface is rich in settings and access to any of them is intuitively easy in just a couple of clicks. At hand, not only instant access to the general settings menu, but also to individual, especially frequently used functions. With one click, you can also open a gallery of already taken pictures. As a result, we can state that the camera control of the HTC Rhyme communicator is one of the most convenient that can be found in phones.

The maximum image size is 2592×1552 pixels. Video, by the way, the module is capable of recording in HD-resolution 720p at 30 frames per second. The quality of photos taken with the HTC Rhyme camera at standard settings can be seen by clicking on the thumbnails below. Autofocus works well - the text from paper or monitor is fixed perfectly.

It is worth adding that the smartphone has a front camera. And although it is equipped with only a VGA-matrix, the image is transmitted so high-quality that it allows you to use such a function as video calling completely without shame for your appearance. And as a pocket mirror, the communicator will also perform quite adequately, which will certainly please the weaker sex.

Software and settings

The communicator is running a familiar version of the operating system Android 2.3.5 (Gingerbread). On top of it, to help the user, a software shell of HTC Sense's own production is installed. This program does not need any special introduction. For several years, this add-on has not only acquired the status of the best proprietary shell, but has also been transferred by enthusiasts more than once to those mobile devices that NTS itself did not produce. The popularity and universal recognition of HTC Sense are pushing many buyers to purchase a communicator from this Taiwanese brand just for the sake of its user-friendly interface.

On HTC Rhyme, this shell has a slightly modified interface and is numbered 3.5. From HTC Sense version 3.0, installed, for example, on Desire S, it differs, first of all, in a redesigned desktop. Here it is equipped with only two bottom buttons for accessing the program menu and phone functionality, and also contains five additional icons along its left vertical. These icons are multifunctional: when you click in the middle, they open the actual program that they announce. But when you click on the very edge, additional labels appear that show the latest materials used. For example, here you can see the name of the author of the last letter or the announcement of the last SMS message, or they give quick access to playing the last used musical composition.

The weather has not been forgotten either: here the current time and the weather informer are inscribed in the wallpaper picture so elegantly that it creates the complete impression of a single whole with it. This is a very nice solution, and it looks advantageous in relation to the standard "weather clock" familiar from previous versions of HTC Sense.

The second difference is hidden in the "Switches" menu (quick settings). It is not too significant, only access to enable / disable the Wi-Fi module and to the general settings menu has changed. Unlike the usual version, here you need to hit the small squares with your finger, but for female fingers, obviously, this will not be difficult.

And inside - everything is the same, with the exception of a few new pre-installed programs. The most notable one, and one that many ladies will love, is Endomondo, a virtual fitness trainer that lets you use pre-set or simulate your workout regimens. Naturally, you can brag about the results to your friends by getting in touch with them within the framework of this program.

Notes is a handy program that allows you not only to create and edit text and sound notes, but also to integrate them with the popular Evernote service.

HTC Sense is famous for its personalization. Much can be changed or added to the wrapper interface using the tools provided by HTC Sense itself, and this personalization section has also been changed. True, they are of a cosmetic nature and are expressed in the fact that, unlike previous versions, where all options were summarized in one long column, separate sections with bookmarks appeared here.

Battery life and performance

The HTC Rhyme's CPU is a 1GHz single-core Scorpion ARMv7 based on the Qualcomm MSM8255 second edition Snapdragon chipset. Graphics processing is supported by the Adreno 205 accelerator. All this is served by 768 MB of RAM. We saw similar hardware solutions in many communicators of the last year, so there is nothing new or outstanding here. The NTS Desire S has almost the same parameters.

The summary table presents the results of testing the performance of the hero of the review and other communicators that have been in the editorial office. The results are average, HTC Rhyme did not show any records in any of the parameters.

In the Quadrant Standard test, HTC Rhyme scored 1638 points.

Your smartphone has a non-removable lithium-ion battery. However, its capacity is known and it is equal to 1600 mAh. HTC Rhyme showed good battery life results, lasting 19 hours in reading mode, and 23 hours in MP3 listening mode, almost a day. In the standard operating mode, the device lives quietly for a day, so a sufficiently powerful battery provides a quiet life with HTC Rhyme without having to look for an outlet. The device is fully charged in 2.5 hours.

Accessories

And last but not least, the accessories. There are several of them, and they all have a different color, which depends on the color of the phone itself. HTC Rhyme is equipped with a fairly high-quality headset with in-ear headphones and a flat wire. Such a wire does not twist into knots, and the earbuds produce quite acceptable sound.

The white leather case irritated most users. Representatives of the weaker sex complain that at first the phone cannot be pulled out of this case - it is too tight. However, outwardly it is quite nice, and the girth of the body should weaken over time.

A docking station is an active phone stand that recharges the phone while it is in it. To connect the phone to the stand, you do not need to insert it into the grooves or string it on the plug - the POGO connector does it all. Three gold-plated spring-loaded pins touch three metal pads on the phone and make contact.

When on the stand, the phone goes into docking mode on its own and can even automatically turn into a Wi-Fi hotspot with the appropriate settings.

Externally, the stand is quite nice, but it has two drawbacks. Firstly, the screen of the phone is located in it almost horizontally, and even as a bedside clock it will not be visible from a lying position. Adjusting the position of the phone in space is not provided here. The stand itself is all covered with a thin mesh material, such as nylon, on which “puffs” appear over time, like on women's tights. This is clearly seen in the photo below. The fabric gets dirty quickly, but you can’t send it to the washing machine, and you can’t wipe it with a damp cloth - not a very practical solution.

The last accessory is the most unusual. This is a plastic cube-flashlight on a cord, which plays the role of a "beacon" signaling an incoming call or a new SMS message. Where exactly this keychain should be located is not entirely clear; no fasteners are attached to it. One thing is clear: if it should hang on a cord from a bag, then the phone can be easily stolen from it using this very cord. The plug of the cable from the key fob is connected to the 3.5 mm audio jack, so the headphones cannot be used at the same time. Officially, this beacon is called Charm, and has a color that matches the phone itself. This is clearly a women's accessory, which once again confirms the orientation of HTC Rhyme as a product for women.

Results

The quality of the communication modules of NTS Rhyme is at an acceptable level, the phone stably keeps the cellular network signal in places of poor reception. The voice of the interlocutor is clearly distinguishable in any environment. There were no problems with Wi-Fi and satellite navigation either. The power of the hardware stuffing is quite enough at the moment to perform most of the tasks. Desktops and lists scroll smoothly, without jerks. Applications open quickly, games from the Android Market (Google Play Store) work quickly and without the slightest slowdown.

At the moment, the price of certified HTC Rhyme devices fluctuates around 18.5 thousand rubles. The price is clearly too high in comparison with the same HTC Desire S, despite the fact that in terms of hardware filling the devices are similar. In this case, pricing is built to a greater extent due to the image component and an extended set of accessories. But still, I wouldn't want the addition of plastic knick-knacks to increase the purchase price so much.

However, such a rich set affected the cost of the device. Those who think about buying the device will certainly compare it with analogues. It is easy to see that the phone, in terms of its characteristics, largely copies the previously released smartphone. There is a 5-megapixel camera, a WVGA screen, but the HTC Sense 3.5 shell has already been updated, which has received new functions.

The model can be considered feminine phones, if you so desire. This is due to the coloring of the case, the background design of the menu and selected wallpapers. It is clear that everyone can make visual changes on their own by changing the pictures to any other. However, after the first minutes of getting to know the device, the user is likely to conclude that this is a model for a female audience.

Design

HTC Rhyme differs from many of its classmates only in color. The model received original cases that will please fans of non-trivial solutions. To date, two versions are offered. One is sandy and the other is light blue. A little later, a third modification of the plum shade will be added to them.

It is worth saying that the device is often rated exclusively as female. This is primarily due to the key fob that can be attached to the device, as well as the body color options.

Traditional stereotypes boil down to the fact that black is considered classic and “masculine” in our country, and all other tones are already considered feminine. But there is nothing feminine in the very appearance of a smartphone. There are no rhinestones or any other elements here that would indirectly hint that this model is for a female audience.

The body of the phone is multi-colored, like many other models of the company. In this case, you can feel the solid aluminum frame that runs along the front panel in a wide layer and forms a jumper on the back of the case.

The front bezel of the screen is painted beige.

The back plane is visually divided into several parts. The top is light, made of soft-touch plastic, which is difficult to scratch, but easy to stain.

Then there is a silvery aluminum insert, and under it there is already a large removable panel made of the same material as the upper part of the body, a beige lid.

In general, the whole set of multi-colored parts looks pretty. Of course, such a colorful range can be treated differently, but in this case, the smartphone looks beautiful.

Case dimensions are 119x61x11 mm, weight is 130 g. The model is very similar to HTC Desire S, only a little thinner and a little heavier. The thin smartphone lies well in the hand, not only due to its shape, but also thanks to pleasant materials. HTC spares no good components in order to bring aesthetic joy to the user.

At the top is the speaker, which is hidden in an inconspicuous thin slot. On the left is an indicator that signals various events, such as missed calls, unread messages.

It also glows when the phone's battery is close to full discharge and when the battery is charged. Here are the light and proximity sensors, as well as the front VGA-camera.

Under the display - 4 touch buttons. This is a standard set for a HTC smartphone. It consists of home, menu, back and search keys. There is enough free space between them so that there are no erroneous clicks. In the dark, a white backlight is activated.

At the top of the smartphone is a convenient screen lock button, it also turns off the device. There is also a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

On the right you can see a long volume key, which is made of silver plastic. Her move is vague, very small. So it's not very convenient to use it.

On the other side is a microUSB port, which is needed to synchronize data with a computer. It also connects to a charger. It is closed with a special plug that sits tightly in its place. Taking it off is not very convenient.

On the bottom end you can see a small microphone hole.

About the design of the back, I have already said. I will only note that there is a noticeable gap that forms between the removable cover and the base of the case. There is no backlash, it sits tightly, but a small gap is noticeable. In the left corner is the camera lens, flash and speaker.

If you pull it down, the SIM card compartment will open. On the other side, there will be a microSD slot.

Screen

Capacitive 3.7-inch S-LCD display received a standard resolution of 480x800 pixels, displaying up to 16 million colors.

Viewing angles are good, the image is not very significantly distorted. The screen behavior in the sun is good, the colors fade slightly.

The sensor works flawlessly, it is very pleasant to use the device, a four-point multi-touch is implemented. The light sensor adjusts the brightness in a timely manner when using the automatic mode. From impacts, the display is protected by fiberglass, which resists scratches.

Platform

The HTC Rhyme uses a 1GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor with 768MB of RAM and 1GB of internal storage. The manufacturer claims support for micro SD memory cards up to 32 GB. Various media were used from 8 to 32 GB, with all of them the smartphone worked flawlessly. Comes with an 8 GB card.

Interface

At the top of the screen is a service line, which displays the time, battery charge, signal reception level indicator, active connections and other data. By clicking on it, you can learn more about what programs have been downloaded, what messages and letters have been received, or what files have been received via Bluetooth. Running applications are displayed in a separate line, which allows you not to start the program manager. Just click on the icon, after which the desired application will open. It also displays information about the song being played or the frequency of the radio.

As design elements, it is possible to apply both pre-installed images and personally added files. Animated images are also installed.

HTC has created many beautiful and functional widgets. Each function has several styles, such as clock or weather. You can choose between sizes to suit your needs. On each of the working areas, you can place several widgets, it all depends on their size. You can also add shortcuts to applications and folders.

Perhaps the key change was the rejection of a large clock and weather widget. It has become noticeably more compact and allows you to view the background image. Also on the screen are animated icons that respond to touch and allow you to perform additional actions. For example, control music or look at the latest message or email.

On the screen, at the very bottom, a panel of two keys is displayed. The left one is responsible for launching the menu, and the right one calls the call service. A white cursor is shown above the panel, it is clearly visible and allows you to determine which area the user is currently in, seven such zones are available. Now you can delete unnecessary ones, customize workspaces for yourself has become even more comfortable.

Elements that have become unnecessary are easily removed from the screen - just hold your finger on them for a few seconds and drag them to the bottom of the screen, where a special key will be displayed that will allow you to perform this action. The application manager is activated by the Home button. It displays eight recently used programs.

When the display is locked, no additional data is displayed. If you press the key on the upper end, the device will “wake up”, the display will light up. On it you can see the names of the operator, time and date. Four icons will appear at the bottom. Under them is a metal ring. Only part of it is visible. Pulling the virtual part up will unlock the display. It looks very impressive.

Icons are customizable, you can assign an application of your choice to the place of one of these shortcuts. By dragging the icon to the center of the ring, you can quickly access this application even when the screen is locked. Very handy feature, it eliminates unnecessary actions.

You can also decorate the lock screen in several ways. Various multimedia data is displayed on it: a background image, pictures from a photo album, messages from social networks, weather, a stock price or a clock. Any of these six listed applications is supplemented with animation, it looks very nice.

The shell works quickly, without slowdowns. If you slowly scroll through the widgets in a circle, you will notice that they are voluminous and consist of several parts. This technique allows you to get beautiful effects when moving from one working screen to another. There are no complaints about the speed of rendering elements.

HTC Sense offers several ready-made themes, which are distinguished by pre-installed widgets and wallpapers. Of course, they are supplemented and made out based on personal preferences. Personally created style can be saved in the phone memory. The smartphone pleases the user with the opportunity to apply one of the themes: even if they do not change the phone's interface very much, it should still be attributed to the merits of the model.

The menu is presented as a list of icons, 4 in a row on a black background. It scrolls up and down in small blocks. You can also build icons in a vertical list by arranging icons by name or date the app was added. The most popular programs and downloaded ones are displayed separately.

Phone book

The general list shows the stored contacts, both in the phone memory and the SIM card, as well as data from the Google account. You can choose among them by setting the ability to display subscribers only from the selected memory type.

There are many fields for it, this includes various types of phone numbers, email addresses, quick communication tools (AIM, ICQ, Gtalk, Skype and others), residential addresses and more: nickname, birthday, automatically added to the calendar, note. There is a search among contacts by the first letters of the first or last name.

By clicking on the place reserved for the picture for the subscriber, you will call up a quick menu with which you can send a message, mail, and also make a phone call to the selected person. Contacts can be assigned to different groups, which are assigned an individual signal. If you mark contacts as you wish, they will fall into a separate category - this makes it easier to communicate with a certain circle of people.

Call log

Directly from the phone book, you can access the call log - it is highlighted in a separate tab. There is a single list of dialed numbers, received and missed calls. All telephone conversations fall into one list, but only incoming, outgoing or missed calls can be displayed.

Dialing is carried out using a convenient virtual keyboard. When viewing the call history, you can not only make a telephone conversation with the selected subscriber, but also send him an SMS or an e-mail from this list without going to another menu. Automatic selection of suitable numbers works, while entering numbers, the phone automatically selects suitable contacts, choosing from the numbers stored in its memory. The phone has a speed dial, you can assign up to 8 numbers to the numeric keys.

Messages

For SMS and MMS, there is a shared folder where received messages go. When sending, by adding various objects to the SMS, you can automatically convert it to MMS. Messages are grouped by recipients in the conversation feed. The search inside the message archive works.

When dialing a subscriber's number, the phone displays a list of matching numbers in alternating digits. While entering text, a small field reserved for characters will be displayed. The longer the message, the more the space allocated for the character set increases. The device can copy, cut and paste text (and not only in the messages themselves, but you can also add it to a document or an email). If you click on the screen, an auxiliary menu pops up that allows you to copy, cut and paste text elements.

The communicator allows you to use several types of keyboards. This is both a mini-QWERTY keyboard and a full-size keyboard available in landscape orientation.

Predictive text input is available when word correction and auto-completion systems help you type words at a fast pace, allowing you not to waste time correcting mistakes. The possible options are shown as a separate line above the keyboard. Pressing is accompanied by a pleasant vibration feedback, which can be turned off.

Email

To work with e-mail, automatic mailbox setup is launched, if it is not Gmail, connecting immediately after the mail address was entered during the initial activation of the phone. It includes entering basic information (login, password). The phone perfectly understands various encodings, supports downloading attachments (you need to insert a memory card, otherwise this function will not work) of familiar formats.

When creating a letter, you can also attach various files from the device's memory to it. The function of copying text and automatic checking of the mailbox also works (the interval is set manually). The device simultaneously runs two applications - Gmail and E-mail. The only difference between them is that in the first one, mail comes only from the gmail.com server, while the second application works with any mail storages.

You can create multiple email accounts, each with a different color. This is convenient, because you can view mail for each mailbox separately, and displays messages from all accounts into one. Works sorting mail by date, subject, sender and size.

Camera

The smartphone offers a 5-megapixel module with autofocus and LED flash. There is no dedicated key to launch the application, so the ability to place shortcuts directly on the lock screen helps a lot. There you can put an icon that will help you quickly activate the shooting mode.

During shooting, a set of elements is displayed on the screen to help you shoot. By touching the screen, you can set the focus point. You can shoot in both portrait and landscape orientations: the smartphone itself changes the position of the icons, depending on how you hold the phone.

Image previews are quickly generated, scrolling through images works dynamically, without slowing down. Image scaling is supported, thanks to multi-touch it is convenient to resize images. Files are placed in automatically created folders (for example, received via Bluetooth, camera snapshots, etc.). A number is displayed next to the folder name. This number reflects the number of files stored in this partition. The image of each folder is the last image created in it. Media data can be sent by e-mail, as MMS, uploaded to Facebook, Flickr, Picasa. The smartphone can arrange a slide show, there are a number of settings that allow you to add animation effects. At the bottom of the screen, an additional menu is called in the form of a sliding panel that allows you to open new windows. The browser supports the function of simultaneously working with several involved pages, but no more than 4 of them can be opened. You can switch between them, refresh the page, view bookmarks and perform some other options (search by text, view downloaded files, and others). A beautifully implemented function of opening a new window has appeared: with the help of multitouch, you need to shrink the current page, the image will shrink, a field will automatically appear that will allow you to switch to a new window or switch between open ones. Organizer The calendar is displayed as a month, a week, a single day, or a list of recorded events. The device can notify about a calendar event, both with a sound signal and a reminder in the service line. The notification time is configurable, it varies from 5 minutes to 1 week.
