Mobile phone Philips E320 Red. Mobile phone Philips E320 Red Mobile phone philips e320

A phone in a slightly forgotten already, but no less interesting clamshell form factor. Let in terms of technical characteristics, it stands out only with a 2.6-inch IPS screen, a 1000 mAh battery and a 2MP camera, but in terms of design it may be of interest to many, in particular to the weaker half of humanity. And that's why…

Design and functional elements

The main "chip" in appearance is the mirror surface of its champagne-colored or bright red lid. The glamor of the mirror layer plus the ability to use it in emergency cases instead of a mirror will definitely appeal to girls. True, the pleasure of narcissism can pretty much spoil the vulnerability of the material to scuffs, as well as the presence of well-marked fingerprints - in this case, frequent and thorough wiping is indispensable.

In informative terms, the cover of the phone is no less useful. The built-in OLED display shows the current time, notifications of missed calls and SMS messages, and even displays the number and name of the caller. Its main drawback is complete "blindness" in daylight, plus the small print of the information displayed on the screen.

On the cover of the tested model, as well as on its rear panel, the manufacturer's logo is applied. At the back there is also a small slot for a multimedia speaker and a 2MP camera lens, framed by a metal ring.

As for other functional elements, on the right side of the phone there is a volume rocker and a microUSB port. On the opposite side there is a 3.5 mm audio output and a gap for removing the battery pack cover. Under the latter, there are no surprises: a removable battery, two slots for SIM cards of a standard size and one for a microSD memory card.

By the way, despite the completely plastic case, and even with removable elements, Philips E320 is well assembled. And in the closed and open state, it fits comfortably in the palm of your hand. Owners of long nails can easily deploy it, holding it in one hand. By the way, it will also be more convenient for them to press the buttons, since the course of the latter is quite tight. The keys are backlit, but very weakly.

Screen

But what Philips E320 outperforms many competitors in its price segment is the screen. The latter is made using IPS technology, which is still a rarity for budget devices, and even more so in the class of ordinary “dialers”.

The display resolution is 240×320 pixels, which, with a diagonal of 2.6 inches, provides a density of 153 pixels per inch. It is pleasant to work with it, the output image, although not very clear, has good contrast and keeps the color reproduction as close as possible to the original even at a strong tilt angle.

The maximum level of its brightness is enough for normal operation even in the bright sun, which, by the way, cannot be said about the external screen, which in the same conditions has to be covered with a hand.

In the settings, you can control the backlight of the display and keyboard, as well as manually adjust the contrast level.

Communication options

Philips E320 supports two SIM-cards in standby mode and only in 2G networks of GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz.

In addition, the communication capabilities of the phone are GPRS class 12, Bluetooth 2.1, and WAP version 2.0. When the gadget is connected to a USB port, it can be used as a USB Flash drive.

Battery

The Philips E320 has a 1000 mAh battery. If you use the phone as an audio player, then one full charge of its battery is enough for an average of 20 hours of battery life. When using the device exclusively for calls (1 hour) and sending SMS messages (30-40 pieces) from two SIM-cards, recharging will be required in 2-2.5 days.

Speakers

Conversational speaker Philips E320 has a good margin of volume and retains the recognition of the voices of the interlocutors.

Multimedia also has an acceptable volume and good sound quality for the cost of the gadget.

Its slot is located on the rear panel and is complemented by a slight bulge, which ensures that the back cover does not fit snugly to the surface and, accordingly, the sound passes more freely.

In addition to an audio player with a built-in equalizer and support for Midi, MP3, AAC, WAV, AAC + and AMR technology, the Philips E320 also has an FM radio with support for recording streaming audio data. By the way, when you connect a headset, the sound can be output both to the headphones and to an external speaker.

The user can also listen to music through a Bluetooth headset, leaving his hands completely free.

Camera

Philips E320 is equipped with a 2MP photomodule. In addition to a considerable number of settings, it is supplemented with an LED flash, which can also work in flashlight mode.

You shouldn't pin special photographic hopes on the phone's camera, although it works out its couple of megapixels honestly.

Menu

Philips E320 runs on a proprietary operating system and supports Java with MIDP 2.1. During the entire testing period, it did not freeze or slow down.

The main menu of the gadget consists of 12 items: Applications, Internet, Multimedia, Camera, Messages, My files, Tools, Contacts, Profiles, Bluetooth, Calls and Settings. Any four of the above items through the Settings menu can be selected as a command by pressing the joystick.

I would also note the presence on board the phone of a video player with support for FLV, MPEG4 and H.263 formats, and a simple web browser.

conclusions

Well, with a price tag of 1699 UAH, the Philips E320 distinguished itself not only by its attractive appearance, but also by its stable operation, high-quality IPS screen, support for two SIM cards and a good battery, but without pretensions to more than just a means of communication.

Introduction

We haven't reviewed clamshell phones for a long time. Let's just try to "dilute" the kilograms of monitored "smart" gadgets with this device. The Philips E320 is nothing special in terms of technical characteristics: a good IPS screen with a resolution of 240x320, an additional OLED screen, a simple camera and two SIM cards. However, the appearance may be of interest to many, in particular, to girls: Phlilps offers two bright colors - gold and red.

Design, dimensions, controls

It seems to me that the topic of push-button phones, and even more so “clamshells”, “hung” all over the world: few people became interested in such gizmos, given the abundance of new-type smartphones for the same price. However, there are still people who are accustomed to the usual "dialers" or do not need "smart" devices. In the end, you can buy such a “mobile phone” for a child and not be afraid that he will lose it, since the cost does not sometimes exceed 500 rubles. True, unfortunately, this does not apply to the E320 (there are far from our 500 here), but I think you understand the essence.

The E320 phone from Philips is addressed primarily to a female audience, two bright colors (red and gold), as well as a certain shape of the case in the form of a powder box or a mirror, speak of this.

The shape of the body of the device in the folded state is oval or rectangular, with rather strongly smoothed corners. The surface of the top cover smoothly passes to the sidewalls. The back side is straight, the lower end is slightly beveled towards the center of the back.

The dimensions, even when closed, are rather big - 107.2x51x17.3 mm - almost like a small "smartphone" or a standard monoblock. Due to the sloping edges, the phone fits perfectly in the hand.

The upper part is made of glossy plastic gold ("champagne") or red. Covered with fingerprints in just seconds. Luckily, they wash off easily. The material is completely impractical. I am sure that after a month of active use, the entire surface will be covered with scratches. The reverse side is also glossy, however, prints and other traces are not particularly noticeable on a white background. I did not test the red gadget, so I can’t say anything about its surface.

Since the device has a clamshell form factor, there is, of course, a slight horizontal play in the two halves. The device unfolds so that the back of the top cover, as it were, supports the back panel. The mechanism is simple, but, it seems to me, short-lived. It is easy to open with one hand: for this there is a small gap between the upper and lower parts.

On the front surface (top cover) there is a small backlit OLED screen. However, the image on it is not visible even during the day, and if the incoming number is displayed, then it is so small that it is difficult to make out even in the evening. To activate the backlight, you need to press the volume button up or down once. The screen displays missed calls and SMS, as well as the time.

On the left side there is a standard 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones, on the top right there are two volume buttons (almost recessed into the case, the stroke is minimal, the pressure is firm), below there is a micro-USB for charging the battery and connecting to a PC as a drive.

The camera module is located at the back, framed by a chrome-plated plastic ring, to the left of it is a flash. It can be used as a flashlight by holding the volume up or down buttons for a long time. The speaker is located at the bottom.

To open the back panel, you need to pry it off by the recess on the bottom right. Above, under the battery, there are two slots for mini standard SIM cards (old large SIM cards), below is a slot for a microSD memory card.

The base of the telephone control system and the keypad are made of white rubberized material. The control unit (a chrome-plated plastic circle with concentric notches) consists of four buttons (“Up”, “Down”, “Right”, “Left”) and a central rubberized “OK”.

The buttons to the right and left of the joystick are made of thin gold-colored plastic and recessed into the case. The same type of keyboard, consisting of 12 buttons, separated from each other at a distance of 1 mm by thin rubber inserts.

The numbers are indicated by large characters, Cyrillic and Latin have the same font size, and, frankly, it could be made larger. There is a white backlight. It can be seen well at night, but during the day it is completely invisible. Under room lighting, the symbols (with illumination) merge: apparently, they had to be made either brighter or highlighted in a different color.

The buttons are flat, there is practically no movement, the pressing is firm, the “click” sound is also absent. In general, a big fan.

The speaker has a high volume, the interlocutor is heard clearly and legibly, the tone is pleasant (there are both low and high frequencies), there is no echo or other extraneous sounds. You are also well heard.

Display

This clamshell has a 2.6-inch screen with a physical size of 39x52 mm. Frames on the right and left of 6 mm. However, this is not a smartphone, where every millimeter is critical.

Display resolution - 240x320 pixels, density - 153 pixels per inch. Pixelation is not particularly noticeable, but the image is not very sharp.

The matrix is IPS, it is recessed into the body, so there is an air gap between it and the protective glass. Image quality is good: large viewing angles, nice colors, no inverting. White is pure, black is relatively deep.

The brightness of the backlight is average, that is, everything can be seen well during the day, the screen fades in the sun.

Viewing angles

White color

Black color

In settings:

  • Animation effect. Screen saver on and off. Picture is selected
  • Wallpaper. Only 9 pieces. You can choose yours. There are also animation
  • Contrast
  • Display illumination. Always on, 30, 20, 15, 10 and 5 seconds
  • Keyboard backlight. Off, night mode, 5, 10 and 20 seconds.

On the main screen, the top left shows the level of cellular signal reception and the SIM card number; on the right is the battery indicator. A little lower - the names of operators, time and date. On the right - "Contacts", on the left - "Menu" (by clicking on "OK" you also get to the menu).

Battery

The phone uses a removable Li-ion battery (A20VDP/3ZP) with a capacity of 1000 mAh (3.7 Wh). The manufacturer does not provide any data on the operating time.

I used the device exclusively as a “dialer” (two SIM cards were involved), so the operating time was about 4 days, provided that I called every day for about 25-35 minutes, wrote and sent 10-20 sms. Of course, not a lot, but the battery is only 1000 mAh.

If you "use" the E320 as a music player, then you should expect 20-25 hours.

The battery is fully charged from USB or AC adapter in 2 hours.

Communication options

The phone works only in 2G networks (850, 900, 1800, 1900 MHz). To access the Internet, you can use GPRS (class 12). There is WAP version 2.0. In the presence of Bluetooth version 2.1 with support for profiles: A2DP, SPP, DUN, FTP, AVRCP, PBAP. When connected to a USB port Philips E320 can be used as a USB flash drive.

Memory and memory card

Actually, the phone has Flahs-memory, but 85 KB ... So, use a microSD memory card.

Among the applications there is a file manager. It opens access to internal memory and microSD. Able to create folders, delete files, view information, rename, copy and cut.

Camera

There is only one camera module here - 2 MP. The focus is fixed, there is a flash. The quality of the photos is rather poor (the sharpness is low, the white balance is constantly “jumping”), but for such a device it will do. If you take a picture of a sheet of A4 paper, then you can parse the text on a PC.

The camera starts from the main menu quite quickly. It makes no sense to describe the settings, since nothing really changes. To switch between photo and video modes, you need to move the joystick to the right or left.

Videos are recorded at 352x288 pixels in two formats: 3GP at 8 fps, AVI at 30 fps.

The gallery takes a very long time to launch, especially if you have more than 50 pictures and photos in it. Up to 16 thumbnails fit on the screen. In settings:

  • Set as wallpaper
  • Delete
  • Rename
  • Slide show
  • Intelligence

Unfortunately, it is impossible to turn on its side or bring it closer.

Hardware platform, performance, menu

The phone runs on a proprietary operating system. During testing, the phone did not freeze or slow down. The speed of moving through the menu, launching applications, etc. cause no complaints.

The menu consists of 12 animated icons:

  • Applications
  • Internet
  • Multimedia
  • Camera
  • Messages
  • My files
  • Tools
  • Contacts
  • Profiles
  • Bluetooth
  • Challenges
  • Settings

Commands when you press the joystick can be changed in the "Menu" - "Settings" - "Phone settings" - "Shortcuts".

Applications

This model supports the JAVA platform and works with the MIDP 2.0 profile. There is no multitasking.

Browser

The simplest browser "web". Loads pages for a very long time, but if you really need it, you can. There are bookmarks, history. The settings indicate which SIM card will go online.

Multimedia

The section contains "Audio", "Video", "FM Radio", "Gallery".

When you enter the "Audio" opens the player. The album cover and player controls appear on the screen. In options:

  • playlist
  • Select music
  • Set as call
  • Mix
  • Repeat
  • Settings

In settings:

  • Equalizer. Regular, classical, music hall, jazz, rock, soft rock
  • Stereo Bluetooth output
  • Bluetooth stereo headset

Speaker volume is high. The volume in the headphones is very high, and the quality surprised me: the mids and highs are perfectly heard. Bass was a bit lacking.

The video player supports viewing AVI and 3GP formats in resolution up to 640x480 pixels.

The radio only works with a connected headset or headphones. The first inclusion is a frequency scan. You can record the radio or switch the sound to the speaker. Sensitivity is average.

Messages

A list appears on the screen:

  • to write a message
  • inbox
  • outgoing
  • drafts
  • Sent
  • Templates
  • Info messages
  • Voice mail

When creating a new SMS, you are provided with 9 lines of text (large font). On the top right is the character counter. The font size is selected: small (12 lines of text), normal (10 lines) and large. I put a large one, because all the others are too small.

Disadvantages inherent in all folding beds. It should be given only to a careful person.

price, buttons are tight and not pleasant to the touch, very dim and uneven button illumination, the lid backlashes a little, every time the battery is removed, the time and date are reset, confusing and illogical control, with information displayed on the screen and how to turn off the T9 figured out after 10 minutes details in the comments

On the external screen, you can’t almost see the name of the caller .. or phone number, you can’t change the font, it’s very small ....

Inconvenient functionality, difficult search by contacts, only 2 numbers for 1 contact, the call option in the phone "set" !, the radio does not catch well and does not hold the wave. The alarm clock does not have the "snooze" function and ctr

I chose according to the parameters, on the Internet, nothing met my expectations, the phone is not for use, but for lying on the table. Scratches appear quickly if you talk for half an hour a day, without using multimedia capabilities, it lasts for one day; if a child watches cartoons for about half an hour, then for several hours. If the phone just lies in standby mode and is not used at all, then the charge lasts for a long time, I checked it with a spare SIM card, which no one called me.
The external display should reflect the phone number or name of the subscriber during an incoming call, (specified specifically in the Philips service), mine reflects the picture of the call. Also, the external display freezes and reflects the wrong time, to "unlock" you need to reset all settings. That is, everything you get used to

There is one minus, it is not significant for me, you can not put a photo on the contact. In this device, it is important that the incoming call is displayed on the external display, and there is no need for a photo!

Gets covered in scratches quickly. Not for men to open it is desirable to have nails, with one hand it does not work at all.
    Well, the main claims:
    - foolishly made a search for contacts, searches for the whole word, and not for the name.
    - external screen - even in cloudy weather, you need to get accustomed to both the clock and the caller, just open the phone faster.
    - there is no possibility to change themes and font size.
    - overpriced.
    - few settings, in comparison with the widespread Samsung C3520, it falls short in terms of price and functionality.

External screen burnt out after half a year of use
If someone calls you, it is impossible to turn off the volume of the ringtone, and this completely blocks all the pluses

Today we decided to conduct a short review of the Philips E320 mobile phone. More precisely, talk about its visual design. In addition, when evaluating reviews that users regularly write on various portals, we will take into account. In fact, it has long been no secret that push-button phones and clamshell phones are no longer so interesting to users, because large manufacturers of mobile devices have begun to develop and manufacture new smartphones that satisfy a large number of users not only with their external parameters, but also with functionality, because on operating system can perform almost any task.

traditional

It is a push-button telephone. At the same time, if you have already considered the characteristics and photos of this device, then you know that this is another clamshell from the company. If you look at how the manufacturer rated the Philips E320 phone, the reviews tell us that you can already buy a multifunctional smartphone for that kind of money, but there are still fans of this model. Most often, this communicator is purchased for the elderly and children, who do not care about functionality at all. The phone can be classified as a "dialer".

Fine accessory

The Philips E320 mobile device is intended for a female audience, as the external design tells us about it. The phone is available in two colors, or rather, you can buy a communicator with a red body or gold.

Also, the very shape of the device reminds us of a mirror or a powder box. If you pay attention to the opinion about the Philips E320 White Gold, the reviews confirm that many users really like the phone, there are no negative reviews that can direct the user to refuse to buy this device, if, of course, the characteristics are suitable.

Dimensions

So, let's move on to reviewing the phone itself. Picking up the device Philips E320, you can immediately determine its shape. In the unfolded state, it has oval shapes, or you can also call them rectangular. Turning our attention to the corners, we declare with confidence that they are perfectly smoothed. The entire surface of the front part of the body gradually passes to the side elements. In this case, the back side of the communicator is straight. But, when creating the Philips E320 mobile phone (reviews indicate that this was the right decision), the developers slightly beveled the bottom end towards the back. If you wish, you can immediately find out about the dimensions. When closed, the dimensions of the device are really tangible 107.2 x 51 x 17.3 mm, these parameters can be compared with a miniature smartphone or even a standard monoblock. Such a device will lie perfectly in the hand and not slip.

Frame

If you have already picked up the above device, then you know that its upper part is made of glossy plastic, which in fact. Such a phone will suit you with any outfit, and you won’t be ashamed to use it in a crowded place, because the design specialists have worked out to the smallest detail . Many people even currently use the Philips E320 (reviews confirm this) with this device and do not regret the purchase, because it will last for a long period of time for calls. The glossy surface of a mobile device can immediately leave fingerprints on itself, this can be attributed to a disadvantage. But you can erase these traces very quickly and easily. If we talk about the material from which the Philips E320 is made, the reviews of experts are classified as impractical, and there are. If you use this mobile device, then after only one month, scratches will begin to appear on the case. It was made of plastic and coated with gloss, which, according to experts, is a big minus. After reading user reviews about the Philips E320, as well as having studied it in detail, you will be able to determine for yourself whether to buy this model or still consider another one. As for indicators, the communicator has navigation keys, a pair of SIM cards, a 2.6-inch color IPS screen, an additional display, an MP3 player, a vibrating alert, a 2 megapixel camera with built-in flash and the ability to record videos. The following audio formats are supported: MP3, AAC, WAV.
