On-screen keyboard sound. Numeric sound keyboard

A program that simulates the sound of a typewriter and other sounds when you press the keyboard keys.

This little utility makes the sound of a classic typewriter, short clicks and sound signals, every time you type or just press a key on your keyboard.

The program is free, portable and easy to use. Once launched, simply adjust the sound volume using the slider and click the Set button.

Click Key Setting

Note that ClicKey automatically assigns a sound to each key. There are 26 sounds in total, you can listen to them by typing something on the keyboard and choose the most suitable one for you. To set this sound to all keys just click on ClicKey.exe right click click, select "Send to" and "Desktop (create shortcut)".

In the properties of the shortcut on the "Object" tab, after the path to the file, you need to specify the parameters sound=(key (a-z) the sound you like) and volume=(desired volume level from 1 to 100).

Example:
C:\website\ClicKey.exe sound=d volume=89

According to a new study by scientists from the University of California at Berkeley, attackers can record acoustic signals during a Skype call.

Previously, an attacker had to seriously prepare before an attack. In order to obtain the necessary information, the hacker had to be close to the target, know exactly the typing style on the keyboard, and a lot of other information about the victim. Today, these conditions can hardly be considered real, and the result - effective. A University of California study looks at a new type of attack called the Skype & Type. It can become a serious privacy issue.

When connected to Skype, attackers can record the sound of keystrokes. Knowing some features of a person's input style, the researchers could determine with an accuracy of 91.7% which keys he pressed. The research team recorded sound using microphones, accelerometers in mobile devices and other sensors. After collecting the audio stream, the data was analyzed using supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods. They ended up getting a reconstruction of user data. The researchers note that the attack does not require any malware to be installed on the computer of a potential victim. You just need to listen to the sound of IP-telephony systems.

"Skype is used by millions of people around the world," said Gene Zudik, a professor in the Department of Computer Science at UCI and one of the authors of the new study. “We have shown that during a Skype call or video conference, your keystrokes can be recorded and analyzed by your interlocutors. They can see what you enter, including passwords and other very personal things."

During a Skype conversation, we do other things in parallel: we send letters, messages in a chat, we take notes. Pressing a key makes a sound that is transmitted to the other party. Many use Skype and other VoIP applications to talk to loved ones, but very often the software is used for business meetings, and partners on the other side may not always be friends. If the attacker has an idea of what computer the victim is using, he will no longer encounter any obstacles in his path. You can build a profile of acoustic radiation generated by each key on the keyboard. For example, the sound that "H" makes on Macbook Pro, is different from the same key on laptops from other manufacturers. In addition, "H" is different in sound from "J", which is next to it.

Even without knowing anything about the keyboard or typing style, an attacker has every chance (42%) to guess which key a person is pressing. Keyboards on touch screens are also vulnerable to Skype & Type. When a person types something on the keyboard during a VoIP conversation, be it a password or any other target text, acoustic radiation from the keyboard is recorded by a microphone and transmitted to the hacker. All its actions can be divided into two phases - data processing and classification. At the processing stage, data segmentation and feature extraction are performed. In the second phase, the attacker classifies the target devices and the main stages of the attack itself.

One of the potential uses of the attack could be to record the password set on the site or application suggested by the hacker. The researchers say their attack method could significantly reduce the amount of effort it takes for attackers to obtain user data. The attacker will not be disturbed by the voice of the victim while typing the target text and weak throughput connections: Skype & Type is resistant to various VoIP problems, which confirms the expediency of the attack.

A possible defense against a new type of attack can be the so-called ducking effect, which is widely used in the creation of electronic music. In this case, the user needs to turn down the microphone volume and cover up the keystroke sound with some other sound. The problem with this method is that along with the volume of the audio signal of the keys, the sound of the voice is also muted. “Effective countermeasures should be less intrusive and, if possible, only muffle the sound of the keys without interfering with conversation,” the article says.

History of eavesdropping physical signals dates back to 1943, when it was discovered that an oscilloscope could extract from electromagnetic radiation Bell Telephone 131-B2 used by the US Army to encrypt communications, plain text. common goal of all physical attacks are peripherals input such as keyboards and touch screens. Previously, hackers have already used electromagnetic and acoustic radiation from the keyboard for their own purposes, as well as videos where users enter on the keyboard or touch screen confidential data.

The question of eavesdropping on user input on the keyboard is a fairly popular area of research. The study of keyboard acoustic signals dates back to the moment when Dmitry Asonov and Rakesh Agrawal announced that the keyboards of telephones, computers and ATMs were susceptible to acoustic cryptanalysis. They showed that teaching neural network on a particular keyboard, it was very successful in eavesdropping on input on that same keyboard or keyboards of the same model. They also investigated why this is possible and found that the plate under the keyboard, where the sensors are located, behaves like a drum when a key is pressed. This feature allows you to distinguish the sounds of individual keys.
