From rtf to pdf. Convert RTF to PDF

One of the areas of conversion that users sometimes have to turn to is the conversion of documents from RTF to PDF. Let's find out how you can perform this procedure.

You can make the conversion in the specified direction using online converters and programs that are installed on your computer. It is the latter group of methods that we will consider in this article. In turn, the applications themselves that perform the described task can be divided into converters and document editing tools, including word processors. Let's look at the algorithm for converting RTF to PDF using various software as an example.

Method 1: AVS Converter

And we will begin the description of the algorithm of actions with the AVS Converter document converter.

  1. Run the program. Click on "Add Files" in the center of the interface.
  2. The specified action launches the opening window. Find the area where RTF is located. With this element selected, press "Open". You can select multiple objects at the same time.
  3. After performing any opening method, the RTF content will appear in the program preview area.
  4. Now you need to choose the direction of the transformation. In the block "Output Format" click "To PDF" if another button is currently active.
  5. You can also assign a path to the directory where the finished PDF will be placed. The default path is displayed in the element "Output Folder". As a rule, this is the directory where the last conversion was made. But often for a new conversion, you need to specify a different directory. To do this, click "Overview…".
  6. The tool starts "Browse folders". Select the folder where you want to send the processing result. click OK.
  7. The new address will be displayed in the element "Output Folder".
  8. Now you can start the RTF to PDF conversion procedure by clicking "Start".
  9. Processing progress can be monitored using information displayed as a percentage.
  10. After the processing is completed, a window will appear informing you about the successful completion of the manipulations. Directly from it you can get to the area where the finished PDF is located by clicking "Open. folder".
  11. Will open "Conductor" exactly where the reformatted PDF is placed. Further, this object can be used for its intended purpose, reading it, editing or moving it.

The only significant drawback of this method is the fact that AVS Converter is a paid software.

Method 2: Caliber

The next conversion method involves using the multifunctional program Calibri, which is a library, converter and electronic reader under one shell.

  1. Open Caliber. The nuance of working with this program is the need to add books to the internal storage (library). click "Add Books".
  2. The add tool opens. Find the RTF location directory ready for processing. After designating the document, apply "Open".
  3. The file name will appear in the list in the main Calibri window. To perform further manipulations, mark it and click "Convert Books".
  4. The built-in converter starts. A tab opens "Metadata". Here you need to select a value PDF in the area of "Output Format". Actually, this is the only mandatory setting. All others that are available in this program are optional.
  5. After making the necessary settings, you can press the button OK.
  6. This action starts the conversion procedure.
  7. The completion of processing is indicated by the value «0» opposite the inscription "Tasks" at the bottom of the interface. Also, when highlighting the title of a book in a library that has been transformed, in the right part of the window opposite the parameter "Formats" an inscription should appear PDF. When you click on it, the software file is launched, which is registered in the system, as a standard file for opening PDF objects.
  8. To go to the directory where the received PDF is located, mark the name of the book in the list, and then click "Click to open" after the inscription "Path".
  9. The Calibri library directory will open, where the PDF is placed. The original RTF will also be next to it. If you need to move the PDF to another folder, you can do it using the regular copy method.

The primary "minus" of this method in comparison with the previous method is that it will not be possible to assign a file save location directly in Calibri. It will be placed in one of the internal library directories. At the same time, there are pluses when compared with manipulations in AVS. They are expressed in the freeness of Caliber, as well as in more detailed settings for the outgoing PDF.

Method 3: ABBYY PDF Transformer+

The highly specialized ABBYY PDF Transformer+ converter, designed to convert PDF files to various formats and vice versa, will help to reformat in the direction we are studying.

The "minus" of this method, as with the use of AVS, is that PDF Transformer + is paid. In addition, unlike the AVS converter, ABBYY's product is not capable of batch conversion.

Method 4: Word

Unfortunately, not everyone knows that you can convert RTF to PDF format using the usual Microsoft Word word processor, which is installed by most users.

Like the previous method, this option also involves processing only one object per operation, which can be counted as its disadvantages. On the other hand, most users have Word installed, which means that you do not have to install additional software specifically to convert RTF to PDF.

Method 5: OpenOffice

Another word processor capable of solving the task is the Writer of the OpenOffice package.

Using this method compares favorably with the previous one in that OpenOffice Writer is free software, unlike Word, but, paradoxically, less common. In addition, using this method, you can specify more precise settings for the finished file, although it is also possible to process only one object per operation.

Method 6: LibreOffice

Another word processor that exports to PDF is LibreOffice Writer.

As you can see, there are quite a few programs of various kinds that will help convert RTF to PDF. These include document converters (AVS Converter), highly specialized PDF converters (ABBYY PDF Transformer+), wide-ranging book programs (Calibre), and even word processors (Word, OpenOffice, and LibreOffice Writer). Each user is free to decide which application he should use in a particular situation. But for group transformation it is better to use AVS Converter, and to get the result with precisely specified parameters - Calibri or ABBYY PDF Transformer+. If you do not set yourself special tasks, then Word, which is already installed on the computers of so many users, is quite suitable for processing.

RTF, known as Rich Text Format, is a file format that is used to save files in Microsoft Word. It is one of the most widely used word processors. In addition to the features offered by Word's other two native formats, DOCX and DOC, RTF-formatted files have the ability to retain the format and content of a document, regardless of the application or program that processes them.

Format PDF, also known as the Portable Document Format, has become one of the most widely used formats for storing documents that include text and graphics. Unlike other document formats with similar features, PDF files can be easily exchanged between different applications and operating systems. In addition, information in PDF files can be protected from copying and printing, with a password or watermark.
