Step 1

You will have to double-click on the input field for the name of the recipient of the message, while simultaneously pressing any character on the keyboard. This may take several attempts, but if everything goes well, the attacker will be able to type something arbitrary in the “To” field, although the original message should have been intended specifically for the person who just called the device.

Step 4

Since the attacker "unblocked" access to the "To" field, the entire address book of the victim is available to him. You can turn off VoiceOver at this point, as it's no longer needed and pretty annoying.

Step 5

In the victim's contact list, you need to find an entry with the "ⓘ" icon, click on it, and then proceed to create a new contact.

By creating new contact, the user can add a photo, which means that using this option, the attacker will be able to view the photo gallery of the owner of the device.

In addition to access to all contacts and photos of the victim, the attacker can also select any contact from the list and view all the dialogues that the owner of the device previously had with this user.

To protect against such problems, users are once again advised to turn off the Siri assistant when the phone is locked. You can do this in the settings (Settings → Touch ID & Passcode). There is no official fix for the vulnerability yet.
