What is the name of the program when they call. Saying the name of the caller (incoming call)

Today I want to tell you how to make your Android phone say the name of the caller with one of the installed speech synthesizers using the Caller Name Talker program.

This convenient and easy-to-use program will greatly facilitate your work with your smartphone, since many people face this problem, and as a rule, there are no regular tools in Android for this, unlike the old Symbian, where this functionality was available, and in principle and without it, it was much easier to see the name of the caller.

First, let's install the application by going to the Play Market
If you come from personal computer, then you will have to log in Google Play, If from the phone - just open the link in the application Play market.
After you install it, open it from the list of applications or the Play Market by clicking the appropriate button, otherwise the program will not work.
Click the "Basic Settings" button.

  • Notify of a call in silent mode - If you check this box, the caller's name will be pronounced even in silent mode. By default, this checkbox is unchecked and in silent mode the program will not pronounce the name of the caller.
  • "Notify only about known" - If you check this box, then Caller Name Talker will not speak numbers that are not in your contact list, otherwise the program will pronounce the caller's number to you.
  • "Selecting the type of name" - this setting can be left as is for a start
  • “Reduce ringer volume” - I recommend checking this box, because while the program will pronounce the name or number of the caller, the ringtone will be muted.
  • "Notify only when a headset is connected" - If you check this box, the name or number of the caller will be spoken only when a headset or headphones is connected to the phone, and will only be spoken in the headphones or headset speakers, and not in the phone speaker.

Now that the settings you need have been made, you can go back to the main screen of the program and click the button: “Call notification settings”.
Here are the following settings:

  • "ON call notifications" - This checkbox controls whether call notifications will be enabled. It’s worth clarifying right away so that you don’t get confused. The fact is that Caller Name Talker can notify not only about calls, but also about SMS and even a little more, but more on that below.
  • "Initial delay time" - Here you can set the time after which the number or name will be read for the first time caller.
  • "Notification repeat interval" - Here you can set the interval between the first and subsequent notifications.
  • "Shake to stop notifications" - this setting will allow you to shake your phone to stop notifications, if, for example, you would not like others to hear it.
  • "Phrase to be read before contact name" - This setting will allow you to set a phrase that will be read before the contact name or phone number. The next settings item is exactly the opposite - it allows you to set a phrase that will be read after the contact name or phone number.
  • "Reset settings" - Allows you to reset the settings if something suddenly does not work.

Now let's go back to main screen application and press the "SMS notification settings" button.
Almost all the settings here are similar, as in the call notification settings, the only difference is in two new checkboxes:

  • "Read SMS content" - Allow Caller Name Talker to read the text of the received message.
  • "Enable Interactive SMS Reading Mode" - Caller Name Talker will ask you if you want to read the contents of the message, and if you say yes, he will read it. It is worth noting that this checkbox can only be checked if the previous one is checked.

Let's go back to the main screen. Now by clicking the "Other notifications" button, you can set the following settings:

  • "Enable low battery notifications" - will allow the program to notify you by voice when the battery is low.
  • "Turn on other notification apps" - allows you to enable notifications in some other applications, however, you should take into account that the battery will be consumed much more than when using call and SMS notifications.

Now let's return to the main screen of the application and click "Voice settings".
Here you can select the language and speed of notifications, as well as enter any text to check and click the check button to the right of the text field, then the text that you enter in this field will be spoken aloud.
This completes the setup. There are two more items left on the main screen of the application, this is the “Not working” button, by clicking which you can start self-diagnosis, or read the author’s E-mail and write him a letter, and also at the very bottom, by clicking on the inscription: “Rate the application”, you will be taken to the Play Market, where you can evaluate this application.
That's all the basics regarding the settings.
The only thing I would like to note is that if you have the checkbox responsible for muting the music while reading the contact name, you should not pick up the phone while reading the number or name of the caller, as the call level will remain low and you will have to increase it manually.

This article is for everyone iPhone models 11/Xs(r)/X/8/7/6 and Plus on iOS 13. Older versions may have different or missing menu items and hardware support mentioned in the article.

Enable caller name on iPhone

Not so long ago simple Nokia phones, which worked on the Symbian operating system, could very well pronounce the name of the subscriber calling you. If you miss this feature, then on the iPhone starting from operating system iOS 10, a similar feature can be easily activated.

Developers apple app"Phone" has been significantly updated. Support has been added third party services, it became possible to pronounce the name of the subscriber calling you. Customize Name Repeat standard settings applications do not allow, the time of the first and next pauses between words is the same as in analogues. In the settings, you can specify several options for notifications:

Ask your question to a specialist

Do not know how to solve a problem in the operation of your gadget and need expert advice?

  • Headphones only. Voice Assistant Siri speaks the caller's name only when a wired or wireless headset.
  • Headphones and car. When a gadget or car system, Siri will speak the caller's name incoming call.
  • Never. The option is disabled completely.
  • Is always. Regardless of the selected mode, the system will pronounce the name of the caller.

To activate the function of pronouncing the name of the caller, you must perform following instruction:

  • Go to the "Settings" menu, select "Phone" and "Call announcement".
  • Activate the corresponding option.
  • Siri-based “voice acting” works, so to change the voice type, you need to go to the voice assistant menu and change gender (male, female) or pronunciation language. The options are available in the Settings tab, then Siri and Siri Voice.

A feature of iOS 10 and subsequent versions of the operating system has become more functional notifications and a lock screen. Now you can use Siri inside third party programs, which expanded the functionality of many regular applications.

How it works?

If you are called by a subscriber registered in phone book under the name "Michael", then when a call comes in, Siri will automatically read the name and say it. The pronunciation will be performed at the same volume level as installed bell.

Disabling an option

The name pronunciation feature may be activated automatically for some users after a system update. Each time, after receiving phone calls, the system announces the name of the subscriber who is calling on their iPhone.

We perform the following steps to disable the function of pronouncing the name of the caller:

  • Let's go to "Settings".
  • Select the "Phone" section.
  • Then click on the "Call Announcements" tab. It is necessary to check the box next to the "Never" item.

Now, during incoming calls, there will be no pronunciation of the subscriber's name.

How to find out the name of the caller without taking out the phone?

On the iPhone, it is possible to create a unique vibration that can notify you about a specific call. For example, if we set a unique vibrating alert for a specific subscriber number, then the iPhone will vibrate during a call according to a predetermined algorithm.

A very long time ago, when iOS 10 was born, there was a very useful feature on the iPhone, which few users of this device know about.

The bottom line is that when someone calls you on your iPhone, you can hear the name of this person. Convenient, isn't it? Let's take a closer look at this feature and how to enable/disable it.

"Call Announcement" on iPhone - what is it?

Judging by the name of the header, you already understood that the function is called "Declare Calls". The essence of the work is very simple, the iPhone says the name of the caller when an incoming call.

If there is no name, then you will hear that it is unknown number— everything is very logical and simple. This function has four modes of operation:

  • Is always. The caller's name will always be announced.
  • Headphones and car. Convenient for those who have a car. If you use headphones or the iPhone is connected to the car, you will be able to hear the name.
  • Headphones only. For many, it will be the most convenient option, because often the phone is in our pocket and we simply cannot see who is calling. This mode will simplify your life a little and, having accepted the challenge, you will know how to react.
  • Never. This item exists if you do not want to use this feature.

We figured out the modes and I think it's time to move on to the part when I'll tell you how to activate this incredibly convenient function.

How to enable / disable the function when the iPhone says who is calling?

Now just go to the instructions on how to make the function active and select the desired mode:

  1. open Settings and scrolling down a bit, we find the line Telephone;
  2. now select item Call announcement;
  3. all the modes that I talked about earlier appear and it’s just up to you to make the right choice.
