Sony SRS-X9 Portable Wireless Speaker - Overview. Test drive portable speakers Sony SRS-XB10 and SRS-XB20 Portable speaker Sony srs

In modern times, it is not so easy to choose the right portable speakers. New devices regularly go on sale, and old ones depreciate against their background. In order not to make a mistake and not overpay for Bluetooth speakers, you need to know for sure the models that are now very popular.

Mass production of Bluetooth speakers began several years ago, well-known brands took up their production, among which the Sony brand stood out. As more and more people began to prefer outdoor activities, such as cycling and walking, these speakers have become a must for listening to your favorite songs on the road. Our review today presents the TOP 5 best Sony portable speakers of 2017.

Speaker Sony SRS ZR5

The new Sony SRS ZR5 wireless speaker is not portable due to its size. However, due to its ability to work remotely, it is present in our review.

  1. Appearance. Let's say right away that the Sony SRS ZR5 wireless speaker is not entirely portable, as it has large dimensions (6.3x3.9x3.9 inches), weighs about 1.72 kg and runs on mains power. However, it attracted us with the possibility of wireless connectivity. The model is available in white or black. The front part with two sides is covered with a grill, under it there are bass speakers (0.6-inch front with treble). A start button with its own light sensor is installed on top, there are also three touch keys that control the volume, and there is also a mode switch button (USB, Bluetooth, audio input, network and HDMI). There are many modes, so there are enough corresponding connectors on the rear panel. In addition to space for a power cable, there are inputs: HDMI, AUX 3.5 mm, LAN and USB. As mentioned above, the speaker can be used as a wireless sound player or connected to a computer, home theater via a wire, etc. The software can be updated using the Update / WPS button on the back of the device, there is also a Set Up button (also settings) and Stereo Pair (the ability to connect multiple speakers to one sound source). Above there is an NFC zone for working with mobile devices, Wi-Fi is supported. Note that there are no accessories included in the package.
  2. Peculiarities. The Sony SRS ZR5 speaker can be easily mounted on the wall thanks to the screw connection on the back. SongPal software is included for free, which is suitable for almost any Sony brand wireless music system, although its role is not the main one. But on the other hand, it is easier to update the software with it, connect another speaker, adjust the equalizer and manage network parameters. The presence of LDAC promotes high audio transmission (better than Bluetooth). With one speaker, only mono sound will be played.
  3. At work. Tracks with intense mid-range bass are digitally processed in the Sony SRS ZR5 so that when the volume is increased, the sound is not distorted. Such a speaker is capable of producing a sound of a sufficiently high volume, sometimes it seems that a subwoofer is built into it, although this is not the case. Low frequencies are especially clearly audible from the device, however, as well as medium ones. Overall, the Sony SRS ZR5 feels good, with a balanced sound. If something does not suit you, there is always the opportunity to make adjustments with the equalizer.
The price of a Sony SRS ZR5 portable speaker in Russia is about 11,000–16,000 rubles.

Portable speaker Sony SRS X11

Sony SRS X11, according to Japanese manufacturers, is the most compact among similar products. This speaker is not only miniature, but also has a custom design.
  1. Equipment and design. Included with the speaker you can see: a blister box, a rubberized strap and a USB charging cable. The portable speaker Sony SRS X11 stands out for its special appearance with dimensions of 6.1x6.1x6.1 cm and weighs 215 grams. The shape of the device is a cube with cut corners, and the chassis is made of polycarbonate, so there is no doubt about the rigidity and reliability of the design. Half of the sides of the cube body are equipped with steel grilles, under which the speakers are hidden. The rest of the sides are made of plastic and have a Soft Touch coating that is pleasant to the touch. True, such a coating attracts dust and leaves fingerprints, but not so much. All controls are located on top: the volume key, the button for receiving a call (there is a microphone in the column), as well as on / off or reset. An ADD key is built into the back (required to connect additional speakers of the corresponding model), a Reset button and a USB-micro input for charging with AUX. The bottom edge is equipped with light sensors that notify you of the charge level, bluetooth turned on and the connection channel when connecting several speakers. The groove for the eyelet is also at the bottom. Sold portable speaker Sony SRS X11 in several colors: red, black, mint and white. Due to its size and weight, such a musical device is pleasant to use.
  2. At work. In terms of sound quality, many users rate the Sony SRS X11 wireless bluetooth speakers as good. The volume here is quite normal for private use at home. 10 watts is enough for a room of 20 meters. The detailing is thought out and the sounds do not mix. The device is charged within three hours via USB, and the working time, according to the manufacturers, is approximately 12 hours.
The price of a portable speaker Sony SRS X11 in Russia is from 3000 to 5000 rubles. Watch the video review of the model below:

Portable speaker Sony SRS XB2

The well-known Sony SRS XB2 speaker not only has an affordable price, but also includes a speakerphone, comfort adjustment, NFC, water drop protection, and an unusual design. Of course, it also has its negative sides, which we will also discuss below.
  1. Equipment and appearance. If we talk about the bundle, then the Sony SRS XB2 wireless speaker practically does not have it, since the delivery set is quite scarce: charging, instructions and the speaker itself. So let's move on to design. The device is produced in different colors, there are many of them, but most of all, users purchase a column of acid yellow or green colors. The dimensions of the portable media device are quite compact 191x62x65 mm, and the weight is only 480 grams. The case consists of metal and matte plastic, resistant to fingerprints. The territory of NFC starts from above, the right side is habitually equipped with buttons. There are no sensors here, all the keys are the most ordinary: an on / off button, Bluetooth control, a key for receiving a call and a pairing function. There is a good quality speakerphone, so in a quiet environment it will not be difficult to communicate through the column. All buttons are rubberized and there are light sensors. There is a plug at the back, under which there is an AUX and USB-micro input. Note that the plug tightly covers the connectors and is not so easy to remove. Protection against drops of water reliably keeps the device from rain and fog, but we do not recommend lowering it into water (especially salty water). The portable speaker Sony SRS XB2 we are considering will not move around the table, even at maximum volume, since 4 large legs are provided here. With a wide range of colors to choose from and trendy features like flashing gauges and handy buttons, the speaker has an expensive look but is affordable.
  2. Work and sound. According to the manufacturers themselves, the Sony SRS XB2 speakers can work for 12 hours and gain a full charge level in 3 hours. Thanks to the Extra Bass function, it is possible to experiment with different tracks, although the quality is not very strong. There is support for: DSEE (improves mp3) and Clear Audio + (optimizes the frequency). For high-quality sound, several speakers are mounted in the device, 42 mm each and a radiator is installed in the center. I can't complain about the sound, its volume is good and it is clean.
The price of a portable speaker Sony SRS XB2 in Russia is from 4000 to 6000 rubles. Video review of the model below:

Portable speaker Sony SRS XB3

The first thing that attracts users is that the Sony SRS XB3 portable speaker has good sound at a fairly affordable price. In addition, it supports LDAC and is able to work after recharging for about a day.
  1. Equipment and appearance. What you would expect from an inexpensive speaker is a small package, the box only contains a Sony SRS XB3, a power supply and instructions. The device can be of six different colors, of which the most unattractive is black, and the most interesting is blue or light green. The speakers are reliably protected by a metal mesh, and most of the body is made of plastic with an attractive texture, there are rubber inserts. The upper part was equipped with control buttons, such as: the start and shutdown key, volume adjustment, Extra Bass activation, call acceptance button, pairing activation and connection of an additional speaker. Stereo sound can be heard from two SRS XB3s. At the top is the NFC territory, and behind a metal grill is a passive radiator, near which there is an audio jack, a reset key, a charging socket and a USB input (capable of charging various devices). All of the above elements are under a protective cap. There is a rubber pad on the bottom with legs that provide good stability to the device. The dimensions of the column are 211x80x83 mm, and the weight is 930 grams. It is suitable for hiking, but do not forget about the extra space for the power supply. According to the manufacturers, the Sony SRS XB3 can easily cope with splashes, but it is dangerous for it to be completely submerged under water.
  2. Work and sound. First of all, it should be noted the support of the proprietary LDAC codec from the manufacturer Sony, which interacts with smartphones of its own manufacture. Due to it, the sound quality grows several times. The built-in microphone is quite good and in a quiet place you can use it to communicate. There are plenty of buttons for setting up the device, and I'm glad that there are no touch keys, and light sensors help you find the right button in the dark. We learn from the documentation that the column works for two days, but in real time no more than 20 hours, although this is also a normal indicator. The sound comes from two speakers with a frequency of up to 20,000 Hz, there is support for DSEE (improves sound) and Clear Audio + (optimizes frequency) technologies. If you don't have enough bass, use Extra Bass. Using the Bluetooth key, you can quickly switch to another device at any time. In general, the sound is quite good.
The price of a portable speaker Sony SRS XB3 in Russia is from 5500 to 8000 rubles. The video review is presented below:

Speaker Sony SRS X1

Portable device Sony SRS X1 is one of the smallest speakers on the market for such equipment. It has splash protection, NFC, and most importantly, it's comfortable to use on the go.
  1. Equipment and appearance. Like all similar speakers, SRS X1 does not stand out with a wide package, just a USB-micro cable and instructions are attached. I must say that the entire SRS-X series is quite high quality and pleases with design, sound and of course the price. On sale portable speakers Sony SRS X1 can be seen in three colors: purple, black and white, among which purple is clearly more impressive. The shape of the device is spherical, due to which the effect of "circular sound" is achieved. The principle of the column is not complicated, it has one speaker, on top of which there is a cone and, as a result, sound waves propagate in a circular system. Minimum dimensions - 78x80x78 mm and weight no more than 185 grams. Good assembly, and light sensors built into the grooves of the case give the device even more originality. At the top of the speaker is an NFC area, and under a large plug there is an audio input and a USB-micro connector. The gadget can be connected both with a cable (only it is not included in the kit) or via Bluetooth. The case of such a sphere does not let moisture in, Sony promises that even if you fall into the water, nothing will happen to the column, everything will function. To start the device, you should press and hold the start key located on the case for a while. The start of work will be signaled by a blue light sensor. There are sound adjustment keys, and a call acceptance button, since the speaker is equipped with its own microphone (it works fine). On the reverse side are the playback settings keys, Play / Pause and the rewind button. Due to the matte structure of the case, it is difficult to leave fingerprints on it. Stability can also be added to her asset, since even at the maximum listening to music, the device does not move.
  2. Work and sound. It should be noted right away that the Sony SRS X1 speaker is charged in three hours using a USB-micro cable. According to Sony Corporation, its work will last for 12 hours. A big plus is the fact that the speaker can be used even while charging. There is only one speaker with a power rated at 5 watts, so unfortunately the sound quality is not very impressive. But there are many positive aspects, such as the presence of NFC, long battery life, compactness, etc.
The price of a portable speaker Sony SRS X1 in Russia is about 6,000 rubles. See more information in the video review:

As you can see, there are many noteworthy portable speakers from Sony and there are plenty to choose from. The main property of any such device is its compactness, and as we have seen from the review, these speakers work for a long time without recharging, and the price for them is quite acceptable. And the Sony SRS ZR5, although not portable in the usual sense of the word, but perfectly reproduces sound when connected wirelessly, allowing you to create a powerful audio system at home. - 13 June 2017

Advantages:

1) Powerful sound, at maximum volume all objects vibrate, not even from the bass, but simply from the power of the sound. Sometimes even the chest vibrates.
2) Really loud sound, 1 such speaker will sound a 3-room apartment 60m
3) Powerful bass
4) Cool RGB lighting and strobe lights and speaker lights
5) Qualitatively made
6) Really portable mini club, they didn’t lie))
7) Protection against dust, splashes

Disadvantages:

1) Be sure to put it in the corner of the room, preferably somewhere under the table, otherwise the bass simply does not pump
2) Plays about 5 hours at max volume, and about 20 hours at 30% volume, the volume is blocked until the speaker is recharged
3) Unbalanced sound, due to the fact that the column does not have enough working volume to win back all frequencies. As a result, at the minimum volume the sound is muffled and the bass is too much with the XB turned on, at the maximum volume the sound is normal only somewhere in the corner or under the table, but just in the hand or on the table ...

Chose thoroughly. I listened to the top copies in the store. Sony immediately hooked on the sound quality. You can't even compare with a similar JBL column. JBL is pure marketing aimed at street teens. If you want sound quality then this is Sony.
    - Study of all frequencies at altitude. Highs, mids, lows - a very good balance. I was surprised by the bass in such a small speaker. You turn on the track with "tyts-tyts" and it feels like there is a subwoofer in the room.
    - But the bass is good up to half the sound volume - enough for a room of 25 sq.m. You can't throw a party with an ear-splitting sound. This is understandable, given the size ...

Like everyone else, I chose between JBL Xtreme and Sony. JBL did not take because of the battery, because. they wear out after a while. But in principle, replacing them is not a problem. The battery capacity of JBL and Sony is the same, because. You need to look at watt-hours, not ampere-hours.
So I took this column - column FIRE! A friend of Xtreme .. Sony was a little louder on the street and the sound seemed cleaner at maximum volume. Plus there is a backlight. A trifle, but nice .. • Once the king of consumer electronics, Sony has lost ground over the past decade, especially when it comes to audio equipment. However, now the company is actively trying to rehabilitate itself and releases the Sony SRS-X9 column.

    Speaker Sony SRS-X9 — Reviews

To date, there is perhaps no better solution for premium sound reproduction than Sony's SRS-X9 wireless speaker. This elegant and powerful audio device has a huge range of features. Also, the device was not without Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection. And although the price of this speaker is truly royal (almost $ 700), the X9 is a convincing proof that Sony still remembers what high-end audio equipment should be.

    Sony SRS-X9 speaker package

The system is actually very solid. At first glance, it is clear that the X9 belongs to the SRS-X family: we see the same neutral design that distinguished the X7.

However, a couple of new elements have been added, such as, for example, "recessed" tweeters decorated with gold borders, shiny aluminum side panels or a magnetic shield. These elements emphasize, so to speak, the status of the system.

In the box we found a large collection of accessories, including a slim remote control, two AAA batteries, a piece of cleaning cloth and a couple of small tools with magnets on the ends needed to remove the front grille.

    Specifications and design

While we've had enough of Sony's boring speaker design, the X9 has a more interesting look. On the one hand, the style of "nothing more" is sustained, but interesting accents are added.

One of the aspects we liked the most was the elegant touch buttons arranged in a row on the top panel. The buttons that you will press most often (for example, power or volume control) are located right in front of your eyes.

On the back of the device are Ethernet, USB-A and USB-B ports, 3.5mm Aux, and a WPS button. Also on the back is a retractable Wi-Fi antenna. Wireless connectivity includes NFC connectivity, Bluetooth 3.0 with aptX to compatible devices, and Wi-Fi with Airplay and DLNA support. The X9 plays files in various formats, from MP3s to WAV, DSD and FLAC with a maximum frequency of 192kHz/24bit.

If we talk about the dimensions of the device, the column is approximately 43x13x13 cm, and weighs about 4.7 kg.

If you use tools and magnets to remove the grille, you'll see a panel that houses twin 0.75" super tweeters and a 2.25" woofer for bass. Adding 2 external ones, the X9 has a total of 7 active speakers. The system is also equipped with 8 amplifiers.

    Connection

Bluetooth connection is the easiest way to connect, especially for MP3 playback, and the sound is excellent. Wi-Fi connection is also no problem. After downloading the Sony Songpal app, all you need to do is follow the instructions.

For the best sound quality, users will still need to play music from a computer. To connect a Mac to the X9, we used an ethernet cable and selected network settings. Then we waited a couple of minutes before the X9 started playing tracks from iTunes. Connecting Andriod devices is almost exactly the same, it is described step by step in the instructions.

The SRS-X9 is capable of producing amazing sound that is far better and more spacious than any other wireless speaker in existence today. The X9 delivers pure sound that captures every nuance.

In our opinion, the X9 conveys all the facets of acoustic guitar strings, violins, etc. All instruments are heard separately, without turning the composition into a "porridge" of different sounds. In addition, the sound is so powerful and spacious, making the X9 appear larger than it really is.

The processing of the vocal lines is also wonderful. We listened to the song "Trouble's Lament" by Tori Amos in high definition (96kHz/24bit) and it felt like the artist was right next to us.

When it comes to bass, you need to understand that this audio system is not intended, for example, for large hip-hop parties, when you need to literally shake the walls. Nevertheless, the basses sound full and voluminous, the drums and bass guitar are perfectly audible.

Of course, the system is not without flaws: from time to time the sound becomes oversaturated. All the "pros" and "cons" of this audio system allowed us to evaluate the playback of one after the other tracks from the Resistance album by Muse. The vocals on "Map of the Problematique" sounded too sharp in the harmonies, and the percussion was too harsh, in our opinion. But when we got to the song "Soldier's Poem", we were very pleased with the X9's rich palette of clear sound. It seemed that the musicians themselves literally “filled” the music into our ears.

    Outcome

Sony's SRS-X9 wireless speaker is a showcase of the power of sleek style and high-performance sound, but to get that magnificence, you'll have to pay a hefty sum.

This audio system will undoubtedly delight you with brilliant sound detail and amazing sound.

    pros

    • Unparalleled sound clarity
    • Smooth and smooth bass
    • Sleek modern design
    • A large number of additional options

Various information and excerpts from foreign micro-reviews. I myself have not listened to it yet, but I asked the Sony representative for a copy for the test. If you manage to get the device, then there will be a detailed review. In the meantime, there is, that is, especially since I have left-sided otitis media, and in the next few days I won’t be able to listen normally to anything.

The portable speaker Sony SRS-XB3 is the latest development of the Japanese company, which took into account all the previous mistakes, made new ones and provided us with unprecedented autonomy. Unprecedented is exactly a day of non-stop operation from the built-in battery.

A few photos cut from the official site.

Evaluating design is a thankless idea, but I like this kind of design. I hope it will be at least as good live.

    Minus speakers Sony SRS-XB3

Now we cannot charge the speaker, like Sony srs-x33 - from charging our favorite smartphone. Micro usb is gone. It is difficult for me to overestimate the idea with such a charge on the previous column. It was really cool, because the weight of the charger did not interfere with the trip. Now the column is no different in this regard from all the others, such as Bose.

    Here is the proof:

However, 24 hours of battery life may be enough for short trips. The charger can not be taken at all.

Now about the good and interesting. Sizes have increased slightly compared to. However, it was enough to fit 48mm speakers. The previous speaker had a speaker size of only 34mm. Of course, this is the most important factor for boosting bass, so that marketers do not write there.
    And they write this:

EXTRA BASS is powered by a unique DSP that enhances low frequencies

Then, as if remembering that there are more dynamics here, they correct themselves and write the following:
Full-range driver features a large 48mm diaphragm, powerful magnet and long-throw cone for deep bass sound
    .

I note that the previous model was quite bass for itself, and the last field trips proved this perfectly. Thus, in theory, it turns out that since the Sony SRS-XB3 has more dynamics, then it should bass by 20 percent stronger. I don't know how much better, but definitely stronger. For a portable speaker, this is a definite plus.

    Column Specifications

For the first time people from Sony hesitated to lay out characteristics. Today the fashion is likened to Rolls-Royce. It was only necessary to add that the power of the column is “sufficient”. But no, they only modestly mentioned that the electricity consumption is 30 watts. We will assume that this is power, especially since the srs-x33 had 20 watts of testosterone, and now we have a larger size.

There is NFC, there is pairing with the same column, exactly like the one, there is a USB output for recharging devices (of course, these of your weak iPhones).
Supported codecs are: SBC, AAC, LDAC. I think that's enough for such a little guy.
BLUETOOTH version 3.0. Nothing has changed here.

Now, my dear readers, I will tell you what I have unearthed in the depths of foreign blogs. You will be surprised, but nothing new - they are again compared with Bose Soundlink bluetooth 3. Well, as much as possible, because American acoustics cannot boast of anything special, except for the size. Apparently, I stumbled upon American blogs or fans.
People write that "a couple of Sony speakers do bass and Bose sound pressure, but nevertheless, they will not change their Bose for Sony." Paradox. Let my speaker sound worse, but it's from Bose.

As evidence of the soundlink 3's steepness, they cite cleaner and more open mids! And I even believe them. Yes, the mids are very good there. But my God, the column is for a party, to voice kebabs, and not to listen to opera at home. Well, you understand, yes, what I mean?
Although I will say more, Sony is preferable at home, since the American does not reproduce very low basses at all, and Sony somehow does it, which gives a completely different impression of music. And this is about the 33rd model. I hope the SRS-XB3 sounds much better. Otherwise, why bother with all this upgrade? For battery and splash protection?
People write that the column will endure splashing, but no more swimming. Battery per day is great for weekends, but I want improvements from all sides.

    Output.
While thoughts are like this - any improvement in the parameters of the SRS-XB3 compared to the X33 is wonderful. But I would have preferred improvements in sound. This is the most important thing.
The official price of 11,990 rubles hints that either the exchange rates are sad now, or the column is a miracle, how good. What will you bet on?

    Written on May 31, 2016.
PS, summer is coming tomorrow, the season of portable speakers. Make the right choice, friends, go shopping and listen!

A few months ago, Sony introduced a whole line of portable speakers with an eye on the youth audience. In today's review, I will consider two older models: Sony SRS-XB30 and SRS-XB40. Is there a wow effect from these devices? Definitely.

    Equipment

Seeing the size of the boxes, I immediately dreamed about the gigantic complete set of speakers Sony SRS-XB30 and SRS-XB40. After all, these devices are not the cheapest class, so the manufacturer must justify the cost with the maximum satisfaction of its customers. But no. The delivery set is extremely minimalistic and the same.

    • the column itself
    • charger (SRS-XB30 power supply has 5V<–>3A, and SRS-XB40 - 9.5V<–>2.2A)
    • instructions (which I had to use for the first time in a long time)

In general, in terms of equipment, Sony could not surprise me. It's just that everything is very high quality and tightly packed, nothing more.

    Design

Frankly, when I was waiting for these speakers, I was more concerned about the design than the sound quality. As for the latter, I did not worry at all, knowing who the manufacturer was. Sony is one of the few companies that still continues to produce their proprietary audio players under the Walkman brand. So, thanks to many years of experience and the availability of technology, they have every opportunity to create the best devices on the speaker market.

A characteristic feature of the design of the entire line is a rectangle with rounded edges. And the older the model, the more similarity with a brick. Surely this is due to the fact that each subsequent model increases in size and weight. Here's a size comparison with the Creative D100.

If the Sony SRS-XB30 can still be called a portable and portable speaker system, then its older brother, the Sony SRS-XB40, is already a stretch. This is due to the weight of the device (1.5 kg), and not to its dimensions. But I believe that both devices are designed for stationary use at home or at a party.

Depending on the model, Sony offers several color options. Of course, these are the most popular colors: black, red and blue (the Sony SRS-XB30 also has green and white versions). But the black version seems to me the coolest and most brutal.

By the way, I’ll say right away about the corps. The material of both speakers is very easily soiled and literally gets dirty from everything! Even for photographs, I could not bring them into perfect condition.

Initially, I thought that the case was made of metal, the devices are so confident and heavy in the hands, but in fact it is plastic, which is very reminiscent of rubber in tactile sensations. This also provides moisture protection, because both models have the IPx5 standard.

Otherwise Sony SRS-XB30 and SRS-XB40 design excellent! I will tell you separately about each side.

The front side is covered with a metal mesh that protects the two speakers and the passive radiator. Along the perimeter of this grid, from the outside, there is one of the lighting elements.

On the top side are all the buttons and the NFC tag (I wonder if it is possible to pay for purchases in the store?):

    1. Extra Bass - a normal press activates an additional bass effect, and a long press turns on the backlight.
    2. A set of standard buttons: volume, start / pause, call acceptance (holding this button will let you know the percentage of battery charge), single operation mode / creating a pair from another speaker.
    3. The main button with a normal press turns the column on or off. A long press turns on Bluetooth to connect to your mobile device.

The rear passive radiator is also covered with a metal mesh. Next to it is a cover with rubberized seals, under which there are the following ports: 3.5 mm audio input, charging input and USB port.

Now the speakers can not only play music, but also charge mobile devices. Quite a handy feature if you often go on a picnic.

Here, by the way, is an example of the backlight: the Sony SRS-XB40 is shown on the left, the Sony SRS-XB30 on the right.

Surely everyone immediately noticed the difference. Unfortunately, the Sony SRS-XB30 lacks backlighting for the speakers themselves. Although this element occupies the largest area in the older model and looks more spectacular than the stroboscope and neon strip around the perimeter.

It also features the fact that the light passes through the metal mesh. The walls of a dark room are immediately painted with characteristic patterns.

    Specifications

Differences between the two speakers are minimal: mostly dimensions, weight, and amount of backlighting. Although Sony has claimed a smaller battery for the SRS-XB30, the official documentation says up to 24 hours of continuous operation for both models.

I think that, due to the lack of backlighting of the speakers, the operating time of the younger model is on par with the older one.

    Sound quality

For the past few years I have been using the Creative D100 portable speaker system. It must be admitted that the device is morally and technically obsolete. Admittedly, I didn't think about it that often before.

After listening to just a couple of tracks on Sony speakers, I realized that it was time to change my device. In just a few years, wireless audio technology has come a long way. The difference in sound is felt instantly.

But we must remember that in the first place sound Sony SRS-XB30 and SRS-XB 40 created for electronic music. After all, the manufacturer itself positions its own line as a replacement for nightclubs. Therefore, I did not get almost any pleasure from listening to rock music. Only if there is a powerful bass guitar in the composition.

In terms of sound quality or volume, I did not notice any difference at all between the two models.

Firstly, I never turned the sound up to the maximum volume, because there was a risk of simply going deaf, and the neighbors would immediately run to the door of my apartment. However, I never once got speaker wheezing.

Secondly, Sony officially revealed the power of only the older model SRS-XB40. She also added that the SRS-XB30 differs only in dimensions and a smaller battery. Therefore, by the usual logical chain, I came to the conclusion that the power of the speakers of the two models is at the same level.
Acoustic systems have a really large margin of volume. A little less than half the full scale on the smartphone was enough to hear the music clearly in the most remote parts of the apartment.

So speakers Sony SRS-XB30 and SRS-XB40 they will definitely not let even the most passive party participants fall asleep and they can be safely used in large rooms or in nature.

Sony has its own application for iOS and Android operating systems. The application performs the functions of a kind of "hub" responsible for synchronizing, configuring and managing all multimedia devices of its own production.

In general, there is nothing innovative in the application. But there were enough problems:

    1. I still consider myself a geek and usually figure it out without the help of instructions. But, I never managed to connect the two speakers into a single synchronous audio system. It seems that according to the instructions there is nothing complicated, but the application itself loves to freeze and show the usual black screen when something goes wrong. Only restarting the application helps.
    2. I also failed to connect via NFC. Not on iPhone 7 Plus, not on . If in the first case the limitation of iOS itself, then on Android there is some kind of flaw or a too intricate connection, where few people will figure it out. But the Bluetooth connection works just great! The speaker quietly plays music even at a distance of 15-20 meters from the smartphone.

I really want the manufacturer to be able to refine their application and simplify all processes. Still, this is not a device from a third-tier company, so that you have to “shamanize” the whole evening to get the result.

The speaker system is from a great Japanese company with a price of an average smartphone from , and Plug & Play is not implemented at the proper level. How did it happen?

There is also a separate Fiestable app. It is somewhat reminiscent of the stock program for controlling the backlight. Only there are a little more possibilities - there is a huge number of built-in templates. The backlight is already trying to get in time with the music, but Sony additionally offers us other settings with the priority of any color. Or set everything up with your own hands. The last option is much tougher.

    Outcome

Has Sony managed to make a quality product? Definitely. With the Sony SRS-XB30 and SRS-XB40 speakers, anyone can become the center of attention at a noisy party, thanks to excellent sound and an original backlight system.

At the same time, these devices are perfect for arranging your own room with stationary acoustic systems.

It is better to overpay a couple of thousand at once, but enjoy a full-fledged light show throughout the entire life cycle of the device. I can assure all readers that the backlight feature is not on once or twice. Everyone can find a use for it.
