By pressing the keyboard shortcut Win + R (without a plus) open the command execution window. In the input line, write "Rundll32 shell32.dll, Control_RunDLL desk.cpl, 5", as shown in Figure 5.
After that, press Enter on the keyboard or the OK button in the same window. Such actions will lead to the opening of the window that we need and in which we can restore the "This Computer" shortcut.

Actually, such a simple method makes it possible to restore the icons we need on the desktop. But there is also a more complicated method.

It is intended for those cases when it is not possible to create these icons in the way described above for some reason.

Using the Registry Editor

As for how to get the "This PC" icon back using the Registry Editor, then this way involves the following sequence of actions:

Press the keyboard shortcut Win + R. The same window will open as shown in Figure 5. But in the input line, you must enter not the command that appears in that figure, but “regedit”.
After that, in the explorer, which is highlighted in red in Figure 6, sequentially go to the “HKEY_CURRENT_USER” folder, then to “Software”, “ Microsoft Windows”, “CurrentVersion”, “Explorer” and finally in Advanced. It is this folder that is open in the figure below.

After that, the contents of the folder we need will open in the main editor window. In it, you need to find a file called "HideIcons" (highlighted in green in Figure 6).
This file must be opened. It's done double tap on him.
Next, the window shown in Figure 7 will open. In the "Value" field, you need to enter "0", as shown in the same figure.

Note: There are times when the file "HideIcons» in the registry editor is not. Then it needs to be created.
