INTRODUCTION

The program does not have a high speed of working with hard drives, but it does everything with due care, so you cannot blame it for incompetence. Hard drive problems are very common, and many users do not know what to do in such situations. And each hard drive repair program is designed to perform certain actions depending on the type of failure. The following are some of the types of failures and software tools allowing them to be eliminated.

Checking and Repairing a Hard Drive: Windows Programs and Tools

Before using such a tool, you need to find out the nature of the failure. The main types include the following:

HDD Regenerator is a relatively recently developed program for diagnosing and repairing a hard drive, designed not to recover lost information, but to search for problems associated with physical damage to hard drives or software failures.

According to its creators, the work is based on the principle of magnetization reversal of the HDD surface, which makes it possible to full recovery hard drive performance. It works in DOS mode, which causes some problems for users to use, however, in some cases it shows nice results when no other remedy helps.

Viktoria

The Viktoria hard drive repair program from Belarusian developers, according to most professionals, is the best in its field and allows you to fix many software problems related to the file system, the appearance of bad sectors, etc.

It can be run in two versions: in DOS mode emulation and as a standard Windows application. However, as noted, it is better to use the first method, since checking in this mode is more efficient, not to mention eliminating failures and errors (like the difference in starting the standard Windows tools).

Scanning, however, takes a lot of time, but the application finds files that the user may not even be aware of. And in most cases, it is the use of this program that is the best option even for removable USB HDDs, flash drives and memory cards of any standard.

Acronis Recovery Expert

This hard drive repair program is mainly used when the structure of the file system is violated and even allows you to create bootable media for those cases when starting the OS from the hard drive becomes impossible.

At the same time, the application has support for a huge number of file systems and large hard drives.

Hetman Partition Recovery

This utility, although it is positioned as a means of recovering information if it is lost after formatting or when software failures, however, can be used to troubleshoot the HDD.

The main advantage of the application is that it can be launched both in manual mode and using a special “Wizard”, which makes it possible to automate the processes of analysis (scanning) and data recovery.

Results

These are not all programs capable of servicing hard drives, but only a few of the most popular ones. But even a brief acquaintance with them allows any user to understand the principles of their functioning and scope. If you advise some kind of universal solution, at the first stage of repair you need to use the system tools (if possible), HDD Regenerator or Viktoria, and for subsequent data recovery - R.Saver or other software products.

2.5 Troubleshooting Methods

The hard drive, as the most complex and unreliable component of a personal computer, according to many, is usually beyond repair. I hasten to convince you otherwise. Most hard drive failures are typical failures, sometimes quite difficult to diagnose, but typical for various models. In the production of some models of hard drives, gross errors were made, which subsequently led to a quick failure of the drive. Other errors during operation are made by users who violate warranty obligations, which leads to various problems with the computer, including the hard drive. Accidentally and "accidentally" hard drives almost break down, and if this happens, then an accidentally broken hard drive may not be recoverable by accident. Drive failures can be divided into several categories:

· And the most common fault is a logical fault. It includes malfunctions of the logical structure of the hard disk, layout, partitions and boot record. Restored with special programs or programs from manufacturers.

· Loss of service information. Also a very common problem. The repair is complete software methods, but requires special knowledge and some time, which does not necessarily pay off.

· Disk electronics failure. In case of minor malfunctions (burnt diode, resistance), self-replacement is possible, with more serious ones (microcircuits) without special equipment it is difficult.
