I specially took a lot of photos of the box; there are a lot of fake Beats Studio 2s on the market. If you decide to buy, do it in a trusted place. I'm pleased with the delivery package, as always, the devil is in the details. I really like using the B power bank with the red cable to charge all my microUSB devices. But there could have been a regular cable and a regular power supply, without any frills. The hard case is convenient and includes a carabiner for attaching to a bag or backpack.

The headphones themselves look great, there are the traditional B letters on the sides, the Beats inscription on the top of the headband - all in order to notify others that your headphones belong to you. There are a lot of colors, in addition to the basic ones, limited versions are constantly appearing. I got a red model, you can’t call it a girl’s one - the color is aggressive, I recommend looking at this version too. Especially if you are already tired of the classic Beats, black and red. Although I personally like matte black headphones, this modification has recently appeared.

The assembly is excellent, the plastic is glossy, fingerprints are visible. Black and red are classics. The guides are made of metal, the ear pads are made of leatherette. Apparently, this is a substitute. I don’t know how this material will perform in everyday use; nothing bad has happened in a month. There is a mute button on one of the cups; it was made specifically so that you can talk without removing the headphones. In fact, I still lowered them around my neck - psychologically you want to show the person that you are ready to listen. But at the airport this button is useful to listen to announcements (how can you understand that they are announcing something if you are listening to music?). The power button and the chain of light indicators are very well made. When you turn it on, they light up, and you see how much longer the headphones will work (at least you can estimate). The indicator is made in the form of a dot, very neat, not annoying, there are five dots in total, and the intensity of the backlight changes with the battery discharge. I won’t go into details, I’ll just say that it’s very informative.

The package includes two thick cables, one simple, the other with a remote control. Both are quite long, the cable with remote control works with any Apple equipment. Among the original accessories there is a cable with a remote control for devices on Android based, Windows Phone I don’t know where to buy in Russia.

There is a microUSB connector on the cup; you can charge the headphones from a USB port or power supply, the only difference is the speed.

As for the appearance, as you can see, Solo 2 and Studio 2 are similar, only the size differs (well, and the design of the cups). Large Studio 2 can also be folded, but you can’t put it in your pocket. On the one hand, black and red are classic, on the other hand, I really like the all-black version. I recommend looking at all the colors in the store before purchasing.

Noise cancellation and comfort

The headphones use an active noise reduction system, and it cannot be turned off; it always works. Accordingly, be prepared to accept the need to periodically charge your headphones. If they sit on a plane and there is no USB port nearby (or external battery), you will have to stop watching a movie or listening to music. Unfortunately, Bose also has this problem. I compared the performance of the noise reduction systems in the Bose QC15 and Beats Studio 2, the first product is in the lead - I never tire of repeating this, for long-distance flights the Bose QC15 and other models of the QuietComfort series are simply ideal. But in this case, one very serious amendment needs to be made; Beats Studio 2 is one of those headphones where the work of the “noise reduction” is also very noticeable, although not as effective as that of Bose. In the office, you stop hearing your colleagues in the next room; at home, they won’t be able to reach you from the next room. This is very good, and what’s more, it affects the perception of music or cinema in general - you find yourself in a vacuum, and this is especially great in crowded places.

Yes, here we need to make one more amendment: in addition to active noise reduction, there is also passive noise reduction. The cups completely cover the ears, there are no problems with comfort - I watched Fargo for about five hours on the flight, no problems. Solo 2 has this feature, the earphone presses a little, but here everything is in perfect order.

The declared operating time when connected via Bluetooth is about 12 hours, very good indicators, and they coincide with what is in real life– headphones can be used all the way from Moscow to Los Angeles. But when it’s zero degrees, it’s quite possible to walk with Beats Studio Wireless. Now imagine that your iPhone is not connected to the headphones with a cable, you don’t have to hide it under clothes, get tangled, and you won’t be able to accidentally pull it. And at the same time you do not lose in sound quality. So is it worth paying three thousand more? I think it's worth it.

Yes, here's another nuance, Beats Studio Wireless can be updated over time - like other company products with Bluetooth, new software versions appear periodically.

Why then is the wired version of Studio more popular? Yes, because they are simpler and clearer to connect. And you will have to charge both.

Sound

Everything is similar to Solo 2, but the comparison with the Bose QC15 turned out to be interesting, these headphones have an order of magnitude better noise reduction system, you literally immediately find yourself in a quiet room. But the sound of the Bose model is not so interesting, especially when it comes to electronic music. Many people say this about Beats Studio 2: they say they made even more lows, and that’s it. I don't agree with this. Firstly, this is a completely universal model and is suitable for listening to any music. Secondly, if you call "studio" a marketing gimmick, then you haven't listened to them. The sound is very interesting across the entire frequency spectrum (though the mids are clearly not Studio 2's strong point). Thirdly, for electronics this is a godsend.

I also really liked using headphones to watch movies and TV series, it’s pure pleasure. The voices sound rich, the special effects are excellent, the music plays as expected. It would seem, why watch the series with headphones? Well, I don’t want to disturb my family at night and, at the same time, I want to watch a couple of episodes with maximum comfort. Here Studio 2 is flawless, “noise reduction” allows you to concentrate on watching, the volume reserve is huge, and the remote control helps, paired with the iPad, to quickly adjust the volume.

Design, materials and ease of use

BeatsX are made in classic style wireless headphones design with two speakers connected by a wire. The latter turned out to be quite thin and flexible, as it is made of rubber. As for ease of use, I’ll immediately criticize the included ear pads. Firstly, there are only four pairs of them, and secondly, they are not as soft as we would like. Because of this, it will be more difficult to choose a pair for the most comfortable fit, but it’s good that you can use other ear pads; the fastening here is standard. Cartilage retainers allow the speakers to stay in your ears more tightly, so even if the fit is not perfect, they will prevent the headphones from falling out, and at the same time provide additional noise insulation. The latter depends on the tightness of the fit and the ear pads themselves, and is not much different from other in-ear headphones.

On the body of the headphones you can find a control panel with volume control and a pause key, which double click launches the Siri voice assistant. Adjusting the volume with the remote control is convenient; it is not very close to the speaker, and is easy to touch. Another mechanical button in BeatsX is responsible for turning on the headphones, as well as for connecting to devices. It is strongly recessed into the body and pressed with a short stroke, so it is often difficult to tell whether it worked or not. The only indicator light that confirms actions is very small and hard to see.

Connection

The problem with headphones is that they don't have very smooth tonal balance, high frequencies are worked out well, but the mids are slightly worse, and the lows are not at all typical for Beats, whose bass has always stood out. Because of this, instruments sound great through BeatsX, but vocals are a little lost in the background, and the bass sags noticeably. The stage is quite wide, and the volume margin is excellent. In summary, the headphones sound generally good if you're not a bass fan, but there's nothing exceptional about their sound, and the same sound quality can be achieved in more affordable models.

Autonomy

The autonomy of BeatsX is stated at 8 hours of continuous playback, and this is true; in practice, you can count on even longer operating time, up to 9 hours.

The headphones are charged via the Lightning port, and at the same time they support fast charging; in 5 minutes the headphones are charged for almost two hours of use.
