Enemy Front Overview

After the relative success of the dilogy Sniper: Ghost Warrior Polish publishing house city interactive is no longer the subject of ridicule and insults. Instead of outright trash, it now releases mid-budget European shooters, which are designed to act as an opening act for American ones.

The engine allows you to arrange quite spectacular scenes.

Handyman

A sort of hybrid of early releases Medal of Honor and call of duty with the above Sniper: Ghost Warrior and Sniper Elite. All signs are in place. Once on the fields of World War II, the player acts as a universal soldier: he shoots the Nazis, participates with computer partners in the assault and defense, mines armored vehicles and weapons depots.

And then he grabs a faustpatron in his hands to knock out a tank that arrived at the call of the scripts. Or a sniper rifle - to cover allies from the roof and shoot enemy snipers. At the same time, especially successful shots are accompanied by slow-motion shooting of a bullet flying into the enemy's skull. There are also obligatory exercises with heavy machine guns and anti-aircraft guns, from which you need to shoot down Nazi aircraft. There is also a friend from the latest series call of duty assault on enclosed spaces, when the hero demolishes the door, bursts into the room, and then in a spectacular "slow-mo" shoots the taken aback enemies.

As in Sniper: Ghost Warrior, action and sniper joys alternate with stealth. On some fairly spacious levels, you can first examine the area through binoculars, mark enemies in this way, and then decide how to proceed: play Rambo and go ahead or turn into a sort of Sam Fisher, who squats past enemies, distracts them with throws of a pebble and quietly cuts down one at a time. There is also the opportunity, peeped by colleagues, to take the enemy hostage, and then ruthlessly shoot him.

Why take hostages if the Fritz are still happily firing on their own?

Reporters Without Borders

All this is accompanied by attempts to create a dynamic plot drama. Our hero, American journalist Roy Hawkins, goes from an extreme reporter who personally participates in military operations against the Nazis for the sake of a high-profile article, to one of the leaders of the Warsaw resistance. He saves French girls and Polish priests, arranges sabotage at a Norwegian factory, tells a harsh Polish man about his past exploits. And even conflicts with a certain British commando during the next sabotage operation.

It is clear that against the backdrop of recent call of duty, Medal of Honor and it all looks, shall we say, somewhat primitive. the same level of directing and design is lacking, and all these exercises with faustpatrons, anti-aircraft guns, explosives and shooting enemies in rapid speed are more like hiccups - really, how much can you repeat the same thing? It seems that some of these scenes are taken entirely from early call of duty and Medal of Honor. But they are set worse.

The work of a sniper, like ballistics, is implemented more primitively than in Sniper: Ghost Warrior and Sniper Elite. Stealth looks like an optional application to the main action - as a rule, it is easier and faster to shoot everyone in the open. And the search for secrets and the performance of side tasks like saving representatives of the resistance from execution are not motivated by anything intelligible.

Another significant drawback is the inability to use armored vehicles and vehicles. As a result, the player has to make quite long and boring races around the map on his own two feet.

And yet, in anticipation of the release of other, more expensive and spectacular shooters, you can kill an evening or two. At some point, the game still manages to capture you with its scope and childlike spontaneity, with which the authors, frankly copying other people's ideas, try to make us beautiful and spectacular. Thanks to CryEngine 3, everything looks really nice. Yes, and the enemies give a light even at the average level of difficulty, so a certain excitement is felt here.

Pros: nice graphics; hilarious shootouts.
Minuses: total secondary; weak directing; the game is obsolete.
