Smartphone sony xperia z5 dual white. Smartphones Sony Xperia Z5 series

Last year in Berlin at IFA, Sony Mobile Communications presented three models of the upper price range at the same time: in addition to the already familiar Sony Xperia Z5 and Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, they added the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, the world's first smartphone with a 4K display. Additionally, both older models are available in versions with one or two SIM-cards.

V this review we will get acquainted with the dual-symbol version of the classic flagship - SonyXperiaZ5 Dual. Using his example, let's try to figure out what the new Japanese manufacturer can offer and how interesting its product is against the background of direct competitors. To begin, let's take a closer look at technical specifications novelties:

Appearance, arrangement of elements

With the release of the fifth generation of Zetok, Sony has changed the design concept from OmniBalance to Sense Of Unity. Despite this, we have before us an elegant non-separable glass and metal bar, which is well known since the days of the Sony Xperia Z1. But there are changes, and they lie in the details. So, the Sony Xperia Z5 Dual has got a little more strict and straight outlines of the side faces, and thanks to a special treatment, the rear panel glass has become matte, which added practicality to the device. In addition, the smartphone has lost magnetic contacts for connecting the docking station, and the proprietary round power button has received an oblong shape and a built-in fingerprint sensor.

The usual color palette (black, white and gold) has been replenished with green, which effectively shimmers depending on the lighting conditions. In general, the device looks expensive and solid.

The dimensions and weight of the Sony Xperia Z5 Dual have not changed much, which allows you to manage it even with one hand. But we have some comments on the controls.

If in previous models the round protruding power button was easy to find by touch, the new one has practically no tactile highlight (slightly recessed) and is characterized by a sluggish short stroke. And the fingerprint scanner built into it does not work as well as we would like.

In particular, there are problems with fingerprint detection, even if most of the available slots are occupied by the same finger. Recognition occurs only when the finger is applied exactly at the angle at which it was scanned. When properly positioned, everything works quickly, in otherwise you can use your PIN.

The position of the volume rocker also looks disputable - closer to the two-position camera button. According to the manufacturer, this is done for the convenience of zooming during shooting, but in practice you must have a fairly long index finger to reach it. During a call, the volume can be adjusted with the middle or ring finger (holding in the left hand) or thumb (holding in the right hand), but this increases the likelihood of dropping the smartphone.

The front side of the Sony Xperia Z5 Dual is covered protective glass. The frames around the screen are not the smallest: 16.25 mm on top, 15.5 mm on the bottom and 3.75 mm on the sides. There are a number of familiar elements: proximity and light sensors, company logo, front camera peephole, integrated notification sensor and stereo speakers. Onscreen keys.

The sides of the smartphone are covered with a metal frame with a matte finish. It protrudes slightly on both sides of the glass panels, which provides a more secure grip and non-slip on smooth surfaces, but digs unnecessarily into the palm.

On the left side panel there are slots for two Nano-SIMs and a card microSD memory(covered with a plug with a sealant); on the right - the power button, volume rocker and camera key. On the bottom is a micro-USB port and a strap eyelet, while on the top is an additional microphone and a 3.5mm audio port.

On the back of the non-separable part of the Sony Xperia Z5 Dual is the main camera with a flash, an NFC contact pad, and the Sony logo.

Like previous models in the Sony Xperia Z line, the device is protected from dust and moisture according to Ingress Protection (IP) 65/68 standards. But now the manufacturer does not recommend completely immersing the smartphone in water and other liquids, and its improper or inappropriate use leads to the cancellation of the warranty.

The quality and rigidity of the body of the tested model are at a high level: all parts are perfectly fitted to each other, and nothing creaks or bulges during operation. Only during torsion, a slight compliance of the structure is felt, but this is not critical.

Display

The Sony Xperia Z5 Dual has a proprietary 5.2-inch IPS-matrix screen with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a pixel density of 423 ppi. Yes, this is not a 4K display, but it is more than enough for any task. Phablet lovers can take a closer look at the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium model - here you have a 5.5-inch diagonal and a record-breaking 4K Ulta HD resolution.

The smartphone display leaves a positive impression. The screen is characterized by maximum viewing angles, high level contrast, bright and saturated colors, however, there is a noticeable deviation towards cold shades.

As before, there is the ability to adjust the white balance and primary color channels (RGB), as well as select ready-made image enhancement profiles.

The brightness adjustment range is sufficient for comfortable work on a sunny day or in complete darkness. Automation works quite adequately - without jerks and hitches. Multi-touch technology correctly handles up to 10 simultaneous touches. There is even a mode of operation with gloves. You can unlock your smartphone by double tapping on the screen. And when working with the camera, the sensor can be blocked.

Audio subsystem

As already mentioned, the Sony Xperia Z5 Dual smartphone is equipped with two multimedia speakers. They are located symmetrically on the front side (bottom and top). The speakers provide high-quality and at the same time loud sound: a wide frequency range is reproduced and even the presence of low frequencies is felt. At maximum volume, they do not wheeze, but begin to prevail high frequencies and resonate the body a bit. In general, their capabilities are quite enough for games, watching videos, calls and notifications.

The package of the tested model does not include a headset, so the sound in the headphones was tested using gaming headphones (impedance 60 ohms) and in-ear Vivanco HS 200 WT (impedance 16 ohms). Traditionally for Sony flagships, the sound is very good, and the volume level is sufficient (there is a minimum headroom).

With minor manual settings, including when changing the equalizer, the sound becomes quite chic. For example, the ClearAudio+ feature adds clarity to the sound by boosting the highs but slightly dampening the mids.

Additionally, there is a radio module for recording and listening to FM radio stations with connected headphones.

Camera

The main camera received a proprietary Sony Exmor RS module (1 / 2.3 ") with a resolution of 23 MP and a fast lens Sony series G Lens with f/2.0 aperture. The focal length in 35 mm equivalent is 24 mm, which gives a fairly large viewing angle. Additionally, there is a hybrid focus system, digital image stabilization (SteadyShot) and LED flash. Video is recorded in 4K Ulta HD (30 FPS), 1080p (60 FPS) and 720p (120 FPS) formats.

In sufficient light, the camera focuses at lightning speed, but speed and accuracy decrease as ambient light decreases. The resulting frames are characterized by pleasant color reproduction, high detail and good sharpness, which suffers somewhat at the edges of the frame. In most cases, the quality of photo and video content is almost as good as direct competitors, but loses when shooting in artificial or low light conditions. When shooting 4K video, support for the H.265 codec appeared, that is, the quality remained the same, but the file takes up less space. The minimum focusing distance for macro photography is 8 cm.

The front camera has a 5-megapixel module, a lens with an aperture of f / 2.4 and a wide viewing angle. It copes with its direct duties quite well - the pictures are bright and detailed enough.

The main camera settings menu has changed markedly compared to what we saw in . It has become visually more pleasing and simpler, works faster and finally learned how to remember the photo resolution set by the user when quick start through the hardware button on the sidewall. As before, many modes and effects are available, as well as a choice of manual or automatic shooting modes. True, in manual mode, photo resolution is limited to 8 megapixels, and only ISO, white balance and focus type can be changed from the settings.

Custominterface

The Sony Xperia Z5 Dual model runs on the still current Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system (update to 6.0 Marshmallow is expected), on top of which the proprietary Xperia UI shell with the Xperia Home 9.0 interface is installed. Visually, the shell has become even more simple and concise, in many ways reminiscent of stock Android.

As before, there is the ability to change themes, photos and the number of desktops. Menu « Quick settings» got the ability to display only the most necessary items.

The manufacturer removed all unnecessary and unpopular functionality, leaving the most necessary. Among the useful ones, one can single out pre-installed mini-applications ( fast access to a number of programs), applications (Sony Xperia Lounge, OfficeSuite, Lifelog, and so on) and services (What's New, Sony Xperia Store, TrackID, Spotify, and so on) for work and entertainment. Separately, it is worth mentioning the ability to record video from the screen built into the shell (turns on in the menu when you hold down the power button).

The smartphone settings menu is made in bright colors. There is access to almost all device parameters: communication capabilities, appearance, screen calibration, sound effects, etc. The usual power-saving modes (“STAMINA”) and gesture control capabilities remained in place.

In general, the OS not only looks good, but provides high functionality and just works great (without any hitches and slowdowns).

Performance and connectivity

Sony Xperia Z5 Dual received at its disposal the top-end 64-bit SoC processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 (MSM8994). It is based on the 20nm process technology and includes four high-performance ARM Cortex-A57 cores with a frequency of up to 2 GHz and four energy-efficient ARM Cortex-A53 cores with a frequency of up to 1.5 GHz. Responsible for graphics Qualcomm Adreno 430 with support for OpenGL ES 3.1, OpenCL 1.2, Vulkan 1.0 and DirectX 11.2. Volume random access memory is 3 GB, and permanent - 32 GB (21.5 GB available to the user). You can expand this space with microSD memory cards (up to 200 GB). The hardware platform supports OTG mode, which will make it possible to connect an external USB drive, keyboard or mouse using the appropriate adapter.

The performance level is very high. This can be seen from both synthetic tests and real operating experience of the OS: any applications and demanding games work flawlessly, including at high graphics settings (for example, Asphalt 8: Airborne and WoT Blitz). However, almost any load, even not so long and high, begins to slowly reveal the back of the smartphone in the camera area. A high load, and this is primarily games and shooting video in 4K Ultra HD format, warms up the smartphone case to an uncomfortable state in 5-10 minutes. The temperature of the processor itself at the same time exceeds 60 ° C.

The built-in video player has just excellent support for modern audio and video formats, as evidenced by the results of the Antutu Video Tester benchmark.

The Sony Xperia Z5 Dual model supports modern 2G GSM, 3G HSPA+ and 4G LTE Cat.6 mobile networks. Support for two SIM-cards is implemented on the basis of one radio module. During the testing process, there were no complaints about its work. The speaker and microphone perform well. The vibrating alert is average in strength.

Communication modules are represented by dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.1, DLNA, NFC and Miracast. There is also support for the MHL 3.0 standard.

Modules work wireless communication appropriately, showing good speed and the necessary stability.

The global geopositioning navigation module supports work with satellite systems GPS (A-GPS), GLONASS and Beidou. Cold start takes about 5 seconds.

Offline work

Non-replaceable capacity lithium ion battery is 2900 mAh. With a moderate load with 50% display brightness (calls, SMS, music, a little Internet), it will last for a day and a half of battery life. Using the STAMINA power saving modes, this figure can be increased up to 3 days.

As a result of watching HD video (MPEG-4 / AVC, MKV container, 4 Mbps stream), the device was discharged in almost 11 hours. A game simulation using Asphalt 8: Airborne ran out of battery power in 3 hours and 17 minutes.

The estimated battery life according to the PCMark benchmark was 7 hours and 12 minutes, according to the Geekbench 3 test - about 5 hours, while the GFXBench benchmark gave a result of 199 minutes. In all cases (except for the game), the display brightness was 50%, and the Wi-Fi and GPS modules were also activated.

The battery charging time from the power supply (5 V, 1 A) reaches 3.5 hours. The tested model also supports the technology fast charging Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0.

Results

This year, Sony Mobile Communications presented a new line of smartphones at MWC - , which replaced the Sony Xperia Z. Therefore SonyXperiaZ5 Dual can be safely called the swan song "Zetok" and one of best smartphones from Sony. Japanese engineers slowly but surely brought their brainchild to its logical conclusion. The case has not only retained the premium look and feel of materials, but has also been completely matte, which adds to its practicality. In place protection against dust and moisture according to Ingress Protection (IP) 65/68 standards, albeit with some comments from the manufacturer. As before, we have an excellent 5.2-inch Full HD IPS display, high sound quality, good camera modules (5 and 23 MP) and the highest performance thanks to the top-end Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 and 3 GB of RAM. The device has support for all modern communications, which should meet the needs of the modern user. With each update, Xperia UX's proprietary shell is improved and offers excellent functionality and performance.

It's nice that the smartphone is devoid of critical flaws, but we still have some comments. These include not the most successful implementation of the fingerprint scanner, the controversial location of the volume rocker and a considerable price. Otherwise, if you are a follower of Sony Style and want to have a beautiful, solid and powerful smartphone, then the Sony Xperia Z5 Dual will be an excellent choice.

Design, construction

I was given a silver device for testing, here you can see all the updates to the design code of the current flagship line - the color of the splash screen matches the color of the case, minimalism, matte material, and the smartphone almost always looks neat and clean. The recognizable button was replaced by a fingerprint sensor, Xperia engraving on the bottom left, above the screen and below - speaker strips, and quite loud, this applies to both conversational and regular ones. The ends are metal, with damping inserts, upon impact, the energy does not spread throughout the body, but only in one area, this has a positive effect on the survivability of the smartphone. There are no films here, the front of the display covers the glass, the back - the glass, polished in a special way, looks very cool.

Only four colors: black, gold, green and gray, as in the review. If I decided to buy a Z5, I would choose either green or gold - black and silver smartphones are already tired.

On the other hand, I advise everyone to pay attention to black too, it was made matte, it looks cool. As a fan of sonystyle, I can't help but notice that the current flagship line looks much more interesting than the previous one. All the best Sony finds of recent years are embodied here. The microUSB and 3.5 mm connectors are devoid of plugs, so you don’t have to constantly pull them, while there is water protection, Sony will now talk less about this (to avoid problems), but rain will not disable the device.

The traditional groove for attaching the strap has been preserved, the buttons are very well made, they are pressed moderately soft, moderately elastic - the camera button will help you quickly take a picture if you see something interesting on the street. Button behavior can be customized.

One plug on the left, it contains a panel with cutouts for a SIM card and a memory card. A convenient solution, the main thing is to pick up the edge of this panel and pull it out. NanoSIM cards, if you have a "micro", I recommend not to cut, but to get a new card from the operator. Memory cards of any possible capacity are supported, this allows you to seriously increase the memory of the device. When you install the card in the "Camera" offer to choose where to save pictures.

Here is what is written on the official website about water protection, I think everyone who is going to buy a smartphone needs to know this information:

“The Xperia Z5 is water and dust resistant, making it resistant to heavy rain or faucet washing (but keep all ports and covers firmly closed when doing so). The device must not be completely submerged under water, nor should it be exposed to sea water, salt water, chlorinated water, or liquids such as alcoholic beverages. Incorrect or inappropriate use of the device will void the warranty. The device has been assigned an IP65/68 protection class. Please note that the Xperia Z5 has a USB charging port for connecting to other devices, which is not closed by a cover. If the smartphone has been exposed to water, charge it only after the USB port is completely dry."

That is, it is better not to shoot underwater.

By the way, the sides on the back protrude a little, this is done in order to raise the glass above the table. Contrary to the reviews, I did not feel that the sides strongly crashed into the palm, there was no discomfort.

Display

The diagonal of the IPS display is 5.2 inches, the resolution is FullHD, a number of proprietary technologies are supported, these are TRILUMINOS and X-Reality Engine. Here is what they write on the official website:

  • X-Reality technology for mobile devices analyzes every image on the screen and optimizes colors, sharpness and contrast. As a result, you get photos and videos with the highest detail and low noise.
  • The TRILUMINOS Display and Live Color LED technology provide the widest color palette with vibrant reds, natural greens and blues.

The display settings allow you to change the look of the clock on the lock screen, select system icons for the status bar, enable the image enhancement indicated above, X-reality, maximum brightness mode or turn off all enhancements, there is a “glove mode” that will also help you use your smartphone under rain or snow. There is an adaptive backlight adjustment, a white balance setting too, I tried to adjust it for myself, and I stayed at the usual settings. So it is most convenient, the eyes do not hurt. All other functions are familiar. If you have vision problems, you can choose the font size. The typical Sony feature that allows you to wake your smartphone from sleep mode by tapping the screen twice works here. Two taps, the screen lights up, it always works, it's very convenient when the Z5 is in a cradle or lying on a table. The "backlight control" function is quite interesting: when the device is in your hands, the backlight works, when you put the device on the table, the screen turns off.

I can’t say anything special about the display with all my desire - a completely normal screen for a modern smartphone.

Fingerprint sensor

On serial devices, the sensor works in the same way as on prototypes, there are no complaints. The corresponding section appears in the "Security" menu, where you can bind up to five fingerprints to the sensor. The process itself is simple: put your finger several times until the scale is full, everything is similar to others similar systems. Then you specify what exactly the sensor will do, and you start using it. I like that unlocking takes a fraction of a second, put your finger on and you immediately find yourself on the desktop, without graphic keys and other nonsense. I note that you don’t even need to press the button, just put your finger on it. There were practically no erroneous positives - if there were, it was more likely due to my fault.

All flagship Sony smartphones have a scanner with a button, so this chapter is identical for the Sony Xperia Z5, Sony Xperia Z5 Compact and Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.

Here I will tell you about one interesting incident, maybe it will be useful for the owners of smart watches and other accessories. One fine Saturday evening in October, I was sitting with friends in a restaurant and having fun, not paying attention to the phone. When there was a pause in the conversation, I took a look at the mail. Received a letter from a reader. He wrote this:

"Good evening. I found a minus with a print. You can unlock your phone with another finger. How will Sony react to this? At first, I put the phone down. Then, thinking, took and wrote the answer.

Hello, how is this possible?

The man answered quickly, obviously the problem excited him.

Do not know. Sat casually played. And found. Tried to rewrite the software update, but left. Tomorrow I'll go and try on another device.

Write, please, what will be the results of the check.

On this we parted, but in the morning the correspondence was continued.

Hello. Changed phone and same thing. Where it is interesting to write. This is a minus for Sony. What should I do? I always look at phone reviews on your site. What's next?

How exactly does everything happen?

A reader sent me a video, I will not show it here - after all, personal data and all that. The phone has one fingerprint, for the thumb. Alex, that's our reader's name, presses several times with another finger, for example, with the index finger, and unlocking occurs. To be honest, I got scared. Did Sony make a bad sensor? Is this a massive bug? Forwarded the video and our correspondence to colleagues at Sony. I must say that Alex lives in England, he talked to technical support, talked in the salon, no one helped him there, so I started to worry - after all, if it was some kind of trick, the specialists would certainly help, right?

After a couple of hours, a response came from Sony:

“This situation is normal. The user has the Smart Lock feature enabled, which allows you to unlock the phone when connected to some accessory, which is, as it were, authorization for access.

In this case, he has a Pebble watch in this role. When the Smart Lock function is enabled, the lock icon on the lock screen is circled, and in principle, you can get into the phone not just by using the wrong finger, but simply by swiping the screen.

The function is located along this path: Settings - Security - Smart Lock.

And just five minutes later, a letter came from Alex: “The problem was, I hope, in the smart lock. Just smart on me PEBBLE watch and I entered them as TRUSTED. Therefore, it worked. Now turned off. Let's see. While everything is fine, the other finger does not work.

Phew. You can breathe out. Two conclusions can be drawn from this story. First - you need to learn the materiel - this is the first time I've heard about Smart Lock. It is strange that Sony technical support could not deal with the problem, especially since there is a hint here, a lock in a circle. The second conclusion is that if you are already making a fingerprint, then turn off Smart Lock. Otherwise, what is the use of protection? A colleague will be able to calmly take the phone, unlock it, look at pictures or something else and put the device back.

The original note and a short discussion were in our Android section, check back often.

Performance

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor is used, as you know, this is a rather “warm” solution, so I went to visit my friend, the owner of an infrared thermometer. It was interesting to see what the heat is in numbers - in fact, heat is well felt when shooting video, not only in 4K, but also when shooting a simple video. So, I used the method described by colleagues from Androidcentral. If you turn on shooting in 4K and leave the camera, well, or insert it into a tripod, the temperature of the back cover reaches forty degrees, that is, it is very hot. And even when you start shooting video in 4K, there is a warning about a possible increase in temperature.

If you do not shoot video and just use your smartphone, write SMS, use the browser and other normal tasks, the cover in the area of the NFC module becomes warm, but nothing more. The moment associated with heating must be taken into account, but it is hardly worth being scared.

You can read more about the processor and. The rest of the features are: 3 GB of RAM (Z5 Compact has 2 GB of memory), 32 GB of internal memory, a microSD slot, there is support for LTE. Android version 5.1.1. Adreno 430 is responsible for graphics, wireless interfaces are Bluetooth 4.1 and 802.11n/ac. Let me remind you once again that the Z5 and Z5 Premium will have two SIM cards with LTE, the “compact” has only a version with one SIM card.

We talked with representatives of the company that it would be nice to get a version with 64 GB of memory - you know, sometimes even best cards memory behave strangely and this affects the work of applications installed on microSD. Until Sony changes anything, learn to use the built-in 32 GB correctly and buy normal memory cards. Although it pleases - no loss of rights.

Finally - screenshots from Antutu. They say that if you run them several times in a row, the results worsen, here are the results of the first test.

Peculiarities

A little about other features of the smartphone:

  • It supports work in tandem with PS4, in other words, Xperia turns into a screen, pick up a joystick and play. Considering the diagonal of the display, it is better not to do this on the “compact”. And on Premium it is quite possible to play some simple games, which is what I do.
  • Old accessories are supported - I mean, from other Z series smartphones with a five-pin connector. A noise canceling headset and microphone will work just fine.

  • The new Sony MDR-NC750 headset has been announced, there is noise reduction, and the built-in microphones can also be used when shooting video, which (they say) allows you to record sound with unprecedented quality. Haven't checked yet. The function only works with the Z5 family. The test will be posted soon.

  • Much less pre-installed software garbage, this is also noticeable. One screen less.

  • As before, there is support for mini-applications, click on the select button open applications, a list is displayed below, you can download something else in addition. There is a calculator, a timer, a browser, a screenshot, a calendar, a mini-player, there is even a mirror - the front camera turns on, you can quickly check the condition of the face.
  • Sony-style player, sound quality is good, I tried it with different headphones. The device supports high-resolution audio out of the box, LPCM, FLAC, ALAC, DSD formats, there is ClearAudio +, the LDAC codec is supported - music transfer via Bluetooth to maximum quality, you just need headphones that support the same codec. While only Sony has it, Sony model MDR-1ABT. In general, in terms of music, the Z5 line may be interesting for music lovers, since there is no need to install additional players in order to listen to the same FLAC files. Add an amplifier to the Z5, good headphones, play around with the software, and you have a beginner audiophile kit.

  • Bluetooth 4.1 is used, the ANT + profile is supported for use with sports equipment, there are NFC, DLNA, Wi-Fi MIMO, MHL 3.0. Using an MHL cable, you can connect the Z5 to a TV and use it to play video (for example).

cameras

The front camera is 5 MP, wide-angle optics are used, taking selfies is a pleasure. Of course, if you love this genre. The main camera is 23 MP, from what you absolutely need to know before buying - it has really, really fast autofocus. The second point is related to optical magnification. Look at the photo of the Kremlin, taken from the bridge, here is where the magnification was used. It can be seen that the program tried to paint on the picture, it looks good on the smartphone screen, artifacts are noticeable on the laptop screen. In general, I don’t advise you to use zoom in smartphones, I don’t advise you to do it for Z5 either, in extreme cases you can, but you shouldn’t count on a good result.

Photo examples

Overall impression is what matters. It's much easier to get a good shot now with the Z5 series, especially compared to the Z3. If the hand does not tremble, the pictures are very high quality: razor-sharp clarity, natural colors, even with not the best lighting, you can count on a good result. Shooting 4K videos is hardly a strong marketing advantage, especially given how quickly your smartphone heats up, but you can also shoot such videos and then watch them on a 4K TV. Or watch it on your smartphone screen. I hope that this year we will also do a comparative test of the cameras of modern flagships, let's see who wins.

Don't forget, there will still be tests of the small Z5 and Z5 Premium on the site, so there will be more shots so that you can draw your own conclusions about the device's camera.

Finally, a little about the modes of operation:

  • Super auto mode, the most simple and comfortable for any user;
  • Manually, here you can select the maximum resolution, set the ISO and other parameters;
  • AR effect, something like augmented reality, when masks appear on people in the lens, dinosaurs, gnomes and so on walk around, the device heats up very much, but copes with the task quite quickly;
  • 4K video, everything is clear, the video is with the maximum resolution, all my videos were shot in bad weather, I'm waiting for the sun to show you good example. Looks great on a smartphone screen;
  • AR mask, very strange selfie;
  • Portrait in style, another selfie mode;
  • Artistic effect, everything is clear here, filters;
  • panoramic view;
  • Create stickers from photos;
  • Timeshift video, slow motion effects;
  • Inserting a face into an image;
  • Multicamera, recording the same scene from different angles on the same screen;
  • Taking photos and recording sound.

You can download additional effects, applications for the camera, found Vine from interesting things, short videos, Evernote, everything is clear with this.

Working hours

A 2900 mAh battery is installed, QuickCharge 2.0 fast charging technology is supported, after charging for 45 minutes, the smartphone can allegedly work all day. Naturally, it all depends on your particular use. Sony claims two days of work for the Z5 line, but that's a bit far-fetched. If you shoot video in 4K on the Z5, the battery will run out very quickly. Here we must say this: in theory, smartphones of the Z5 line can work for two days. In practice, it all depends on you.

Familiar power saving modes are supported.

The power supply in the kit will be different, it does not support QuickCharge - you will need to buy such a PSU separately. I want to remind you that I tested the UCH-10, a power supply with QuickCharge support, you can read.

conclusions

There are no questions about conversational dynamics. Sound in HD is supported, I really like this feature, the interlocutor seems to be standing nearby. You quickly get used to good things. There are no questions about the quality of the connection, vibration in the pocket is felt, the usual speaker is not too loud - it does not yell, in a noisy place it is easy to miss a call or notification.

In official retail, the device costs 49,990 rubles, this applies to both the version with one and two SIM cards, I would immediately buy DualSIM, at least just in case. I suggest you decide on the color yourself, silver seems to me the most practical, prints on white are not so noticeable.

What I liked:

  • Assembly, device design. Of Android smartphones, I definitely like three devices, these are samsung galaxy S6 EDGE+, Blackberry Priv and the whole new Z5 line. What is "mini", what is Premium, what is a regular smartphone look great. Just a pleasure to pick up and use every day. Protection from water is conditional here, keep this in mind;
  • The camera will probably still be finished, but even now it shoots more interesting than its predecessor;
  • Well made fingerprint sensor
  • Advanced musical features;
  • There is a slot for memory cards;
  • Minimum extra software;
  • The absence of any shell;
  • Good working hours offline;
  • Interesting accessories, work with PS4.

What did not like:

  • CPU heating and related incidents - for example, the camera may be closed at the most inopportune moment;
  • No headset included;
  • I would recommend Sony to pay more attention to the dynamics of the smartphone, to see how it is done on other devices - at least on the iPhone;
  • The screen will not appeal to those who have dealt with other modern smartphones;
  • There is no wireless charging, although many are already accustomed to such a feature.

What else interesting things can be bought for this money?

  • iPhone 6S, the memory depends on the version of the smartphone - if you buy an American, you can take 64 GB;
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 EDGE, version with 32 GB of memory costs comparable money.

Reviews of these smartphones are on the site, I recommend that you read it. It makes no sense to list other devices, consumers in Russia have the highest level of knowledge and respect for the Sony brand, so you can safely put the Z5 and Apple and Samsung products in line. What exactly to choose is up to you. I will only note that the iPhone still cannot be thrown out of the comparison - the price is painfully similar. Another OS, another world, but maybe someone just decides to try? As for Samsung, there is a space design, good materials, a good camera, but the shell can scare you away. As well as the inability to increase memory. By the way, I won’t advise anyone to buy an iPhone 6S with 16 GB of memory either, at least you need a version with 64 GB.

And, if you looked at the price of the Z5 with sarcasm, now, remembering the features of other modern flagships, you will no longer be so categorical, right? It's good when there is a curved screen, but even better when there are more than a hundred gigs of memory. Here you can choose what is more important.

Today's prices are very surprising, so I wouldn't be surprised if consumers now rake out the Z3 and Z3 + and bypass the flagships. Expensive. While very expensive. Sony will show the next flagship in 2016, most likely it will happen at IFA next September. It may well be that we will see a phablet based on the Z5 and a tablet made on the same platform.

I personally like the updated line very much. If you are looking for the best smartphone to use for several years, be sure to include the Z5 in the comparison.

Flagship smartphones are expensive toys. But people willingly buy them even in times of crisis! After all, the flagship is not only pumped by the most advanced technologies, which will delight you for more than one year, but also carries a powerful image charge. It is the flagship smartphone that will declare your success louder than any words. Why would anyone need to prove something if you put a Sony Xperia Z5 on a table in a restaurant? We'll talk about him.

Design and sense of unity

The design of the Sony Xperia Z5 is minimalist. It's just a thin, rectangular smartphone. But let's take a closer look at the details. The smartphone is Japanese, and it is designed in the aesthetics of "great in small".

The matte edges of the case are made of aluminum, which does not show itself in any way. They pleasantly cool the palm, and one of them is decorated with XPERIA engraving.

The back panel is covered with Frosted Glass. It's also matte, so it doesn't pick up fingerprints and is always clean.

The corners of the smartphone are plastic - if the device fell, they will protect its electronic components from damage, extinguishing the impact energy.

Housing Sony Xperia Z5 sealed (standard IP68) - he is not afraid of rain or sandstorm. However, Sony does not recommend submerging the smartphone under water.

All buttons are placed on right side. The power button is no longer round and protruding, like previous generations of the flagship. It is elongated, organically integrated into the body and has a built-in fingerprint sensor that recognizes you in the blink of an eye and unlocks your smartphone. A little lower is the volume rocker. You need to get used to it, because usually it is placed on top. And at the very bottom - a separate camera button.

When you hold a smartphone in your hand, you feel solidity. When you look closely, you see jewelry work. Sony called this design Sense of Unity - "Feeling of unity." Yes, there is something to pay money for!

Flawless Screen

The screen diagonal is large - 5.2 inches. However, due to the narrow frames, the smartphone did not become a “shovel”. Full HD resolution 1920 x 1080 pixels, pixel density 424 ppi. Image quality is awesome!

Due to the absence of an air gap between the display and the touch layer, it seems that the image is glued to the glass. And it's impressive! By the way, the sensor responds to touch, even if you are wearing gloves.

Enough performance for several

"Stuffing" Sony Xperia Z5 flagship in the truest sense of the word. The Snapdragon 810 is Qualcomm's most powerful processor to date. We already met when we were considering a smartphone HTC One M9. There are simply no tasks that would be beyond the power of the Snapdragon 810 with 3 GB of RAM to boot. Such resources will last for several years to come. However, this medal has a flip side.

The Snapdragon 810 heats up, so the Sony Xperia Z5 is always a little warm, and if you play demanding 3D games, it can even get hot. This does not affect the stability of work and performance, so it's okay.

Note that with such an impressive performance, the Sony Xperia Z5 can easily work for two days without recharging. If you use the Ultra Stamina power saving feature, which turns off Wi-Fi and mobile network, then you can count on 10 days! Not bad?

Built-in memory 32 GB. Given that the flagship is a sin not to fill to the eyeballs with a dozen "heavy" applications and the ability to record 4K video, this is not so much. Problem? Not! Having purchased microSD card, you will expand the storage up to 200 GB.

The world's best mobile camera

Sony is one of the few on the market that produces its own photomodules, not only for its own smartphones, but also for strangers. Therefore, from Sony's flagship we have the right to expect the coolest camera. And we got it!

The expert photo resource DxO Mark recognized the Sony Xperia Z5 camera as the best for the fall of 2015 among other "telephone" cameras.

The Sony Xperia Z5 has a 23-megapixel matrix with hybrid autofocus. The latter combines the speed of phase detection autofocus with the accuracy of contrast. In fact, the camera focuses incredibly quickly (Sony calls the figure 0.03 seconds), and never misses. Even at night, you can take a sharp macro shot of a leaf that sways in the wind. Phenomenal!

Shooting in low light is the forte of the Sony Xperia Z5 camera. The high-sensitivity Exmor RS sensor with a separate Bionz image processor delivers extremely clear photos with low digital noise. In the daytime, the pictures are even more flawless.

The Sony Xperia Z5 can shoot ultra-high definition 4K video with autofocus and Steady Shot image stabilization. The processor power, by the way, is enough not only for shooting, but also for editing and processing such a video.

As for the front camera, here Sony for some reason was greedy and installed a 5-megapixel matrix. The wide-angle 23mm optics allows you to capture large companies, which is good. However, in low light, the effect of the noise reduction function is noticeable in the photo - the details are somewhat blurred.

Dual SIM and LTE support

We have a modification of the Sony Xperia Z5 Dual in our hands. The smartphone supports two SIM-cards, and each slot works in an LTE network. It may seem strange, but for a flagship such a feature is a luxury. Few manufacturers produce versions with two SIM cards. And oh, how useful!

Two SIM cards is an opportunity to be a subscriber of two operators at once and not depend on the quality of coverage of one. Are you familiar with the situation when in the same place one operator has one stick, and the other has everything, and even the LTE icon is lit? That's it!

In addition, the Sony Xperia Z5 has NFC chip. Connecting other devices via NFC is not so interesting, but using a chip to pay for purchases or pass the subway is another matter.

Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS / GLONASS in the Sony Xperia Z5, of course, there is!

Sony Xperia Z5 is an exquisite luxury and uncompromising quality! Loudly said? Not at all. The updated design of Sense of Unity in the best traditions of Japanese aesthetics, the quality of materials and their finishes, impeccable assembly and design, in which every detail is thought out, right down to the protective corners, a sealed case ... We declare: when you take the Sony Xperia Z5 in your hand, you will not be too something you want to know about its performance. She, of course, is on top, because this is the flagship! The camera does not raise any questions. You won't be able to find something better. Features such as the volume rocker located too low and the average front camera do not spoil the overall impression of the smartphone.

Pluses: - the camera, despite the soap. its ability to resist the sun for mobile (and not only!) devices is simply incredible. detailing and the ability to convey texture are also above praise - design despite the subjectivity of this parameter. Sony have moved a little away from what we saw in previous sockets, IMHO for the better. Well, the color schemes of this particular line are just a bomb. very stylish. - Headphone sound. compare with phones. if compared with their own walkman nwz-a15, then of course it is worse, not so assertive and lively. support for hi-res (see bypassing the android) - sony, almost vanilla, firmware. - regular updates - speed of work. Of course - two SIM cards AND a memory card. you will not see it everywhere now, as I understand it. Disadvantages: - you need to understand that at the start of sales they have a lot of shortcomings and not only soft ones - reliability and a percentage of defects. for example, the camera lathers not like every second, but almost everyone has autonomous work - do not wait for the promised two days. in any case, under "normal" use i.e. without the total shutdown of applications, restrictions on work in 2g networks, etc. Wi-Fi at home, some Internet, music, but without ultrastamins and other things. I think you can count on 16-20 hours. if you get confused and turn off half the functionality of the mb device and it will be one and a half two days. Comment: purchased in February 2016, revision 3, production January 2016. Active but careful use for half a year. repaired twice. for the first time (at the end of June, i.e. after 4 months) he applied about - a camera that was left to the left - half a day of battery life max - large errors in the operation of the fingerprint scanner - heating the phone for no reason (with the screen on, mostly ) - a yellow spot on the screen in the area of \u200b\u200bthe power button under warranty changed the motherboard, camera, plus all related rubber bands and tags. the screen was denied, they said that it was a non-warranty case, they say I "physically acted" on it in the area of \u200b\u200bthe power button, which bent the metal frame and deformed the matrix. in short, while I was bombing, two weeks passed imperceptibly, and during this time: - the headset jack was dead, the phone stopped recognizing the headphones - I realized that there was really no soap on the pictures on the left - they fixed it. it is now on the right =) - autonomy returned to an acceptable 20-24 hours - the scanner's work improved It suffered a second time (end of July). The list was as follows: - Non-working headphone jack - The camera lathers on the right (not as much as it was, but there is soap) - Heating of the device (recorded by the receiver itself, because its temperature alerted the device) - Plus added a request for an explanation of the answer on the screen and about what physical impact in question. let them write in newtons how much their body holds. I am sure that the usual pressure on the power button is enough to push through the metal in six months and damage the display. in the end, it’s not for me to prove that I’m not a camel ... As a result, they changed. both screen and camera. In general, I would recommend not buying Sony phones at the start of sales, but waiting at least six months - and the price tag will fall, and bugs will be fixed, and hardware will be corrected, based on failures. some pros)
