Windows 8 sees cd rom. Wireless module system failure

The main problem with newer operating systems is that they may often not see plug-ins. Windows 8 does not see the phone via usb - a popular request on the Internet. Is this really so, are many people really unable to deal with such a problem? Yes and this manual will help you get rid of this misunderstanding as soon as possible.

Windows 8 does not see the phone - solution

Since the network is more often looking for a solution to the problem for Android phones, we decided to create an appropriate guide. You need to immediately understand if your computer has seen the connection of the phone before. If earlier the mobile worked normally with the PC, then it could be a virus. Where did he come from? He can get through Mobile Internet as well as through the computer itself.

If the device is completely new, then it is worth updating the operating system or installing MTP (Media Transfer Protocol). This should be done on the official website of the program, so as not to pick up viruses and prohibited programs. Next, download the driver for your operating system and use it.

Windows 8 does not see iphone for several reasons:

  • The dissimilarity of the operating systems of the computer and phone;
  • Lack of certain programs on one of the devices, drivers;
  • If the phone is locked with graphic key, then it must be unlocked, otherwise the PC simply will not see the connected device;
  • If the phone does not alert you that it is connected to a PC, then the problem is in the wire or jack itself. Perhaps it is damaged, this may be even if the mobile phone is brand new.

Also keep in mind that if a notification has arrived on your phone, that's not all. You need to click on it and a window will open in which you can select the mode for using the USB. You can transfer only pictures and photos, charge your phone or mark all kinds of formats at once. Often, charging is chosen there, which does not allow the PC to see the phone.

The owner immediately begins to worry, he thinks that he was sold a broken phone. And just go to the settings and select the MTP mode. Next, a folder with the name of your mobile device through which you can transfer files. If none of the above helped, then most likely it's a broken socket. It may not work either in the computer or in the phone itself.

At present, the controversial expression “a computer is a network, a network is a computer”, controversial 10-15 years ago, is perceived as an axiom. The network combines computers and other devices at home and at work, and without the Internet, many can no longer imagine their lives. And if some kind of failure suddenly happens and access to the world wide web stops, it is perceived extremely negatively. It also happens that everything is fine with the equipment, but a laptop or computer running under Windows, for the life of me, does not see wifi network. What could be the reasons for this problem and how to solve it, we will talk in this article.

Causes and Solutions

So, suppose we are on a business trip, we receive upon arrival new laptop with installed Windows 8 and trying to connect to Wi-Fi, but the operating system cannot find the network. Listed available connections empty. There may be several reasons for this, and they are divided into hardware and software. With hardware, everything is quite simple - it is very likely that it has broken WiFi adapter on a laptop. It is impossible to replace it yourself, therefore, if there is no time to go to the service, you will have to connect to the network with a cable in the old fashioned way or use another computer. Of course, problems with the router are also possible, but if the wireless network works flawlessly for other users, and even your smartphone sees it perfectly, then it has nothing to do with the laptop.

Among program reasons the fact that the computer does not find the network, there are several most likely:

  • You must enable the wireless adapter on your laptop.
  • wifi controller disabled on Windows.
  • Drivers not installed or not suitable.

1. BIOS.

In the first case, there is a chance that wireless device disabled via BIOS. You can get there by pressing the F2, F10, Del key - the specific value also depends on the brand of the laptop. Next, we find a section whose name contains the word Configuration, Advanced, System devices or something like that, the main thing is that it contains information about embedded devices. Check if the value is Off or Disabled opposite wireless adapter, referred to as Wlan device, Wireless, Wi-Fi controller and so on.
2. Power button on a laptop.

If everything is fine in the BIOS, but the problem has not disappeared, pay attention to the laptop case, most often the power button wireless network has the form of a switch and is combined with an indicator:
3. Power buttons on the keyboard.

It may turn out that there is no hardware button, but this does not create a problem either - you should study the keyboard, among the function keys there is one that, when pressed together with the Fn key, turns on Wi-Fi. It is marked with a special icon. Let's see how it might look like different manufacturers laptops:
In the second case, if the Wi-Fi controller is disabled, you should check two different windows settings 8.

4. Turn on the Wi-Fi adapter.

The adapter itself may be turned off, to check, go to "Control Panel" - "Network and Control Center public access"- "Changing adapter parameters" and, if we see that wireless connection is gray, and its status is “Disabled”, you just have to turn it on.
5. Checking if Wi-Fi is enabled in Windows 8 software.

You need to make sure that Wi-Fi is not disabled in the right pop-up windows panel. Move the mouse cursor to the upper or lower right corner of the monitor and go to the "Wireless Mode" section. We turn on the adapter, if it is disabled only for the “Airplane” mode, we check if it is currently enabled. 6. Verification WiFi drivers . Finally, if the previous options did not work, you will have to tinker with the driver. If the one bundled with Windows 8 is installed, this may be the cause of the problem, it is always better to use the program from the manufacturer. Open the device manager by going to the "Control Panel" - "System" or by pressing Win + R on the keyboard and typing in command line text devmgmt.msc. We find the Wi-Fi controller (the name will contain the word "Wireless" or "Wi-Fi"). When the device icon looks like a yellow triangle with exclamation point- there is a problem with the driver and you need to reinstall it.

If, at first glance, everything is fine, you should make sure that the adapter is set to the appropriate software. By clicking on its name right click mouse, open the properties window, then go to the Driver tab and see information about the vendor and release date of the program. If Microsoft is listed there and two or three years have passed since the release of the driver, you should definitely go to the official website of the laptop manufacturer, download and install latest version. It is possible that another computer was installed on the computer. Windows versions and the driver supplied with it is not suitable for this hardware.

Despite all the thoughtfulness and optimization of the G8, for many PC users running Windows 8, the system does not see computers on the network. It is to the consideration of these circumstances that this work will be devoted.

Possible reasons

By and large, there may be several reasons, and they are very diverse: ranging from the banal lack of network connection or a different name working group and ending with violations in the performance of the system itself or changes in registry settings.

Of course, the last two options are possible, but very unlikely. So here we will consider the two most common situations, namely:

Consideration of the causes will be carried out in exactly the same sequence as indicated above. So, let's begin.

Network discovery

This parameter affects only the display of the device inside the distributed Wi-Fi point of the network. Access to the Internet will be provided regardless of the set position, but it is impossible to manipulate directly with all network devices without enabling this parameter.

In order to configure this parameter, you need to go to a special menu. This can be done in the following way.

The first step is to go to the Network and Sharing Center. It can be done different ways, but the easiest way to find it is in the notification area or tray icon network connection. To do this, lower the mouse cursor to the lower right corner and find the icon in the form of five vertical stripes.

Right-click on the icon, after which it will be called context menu, where one of the two items will be the aforementioned item - "Network and Sharing Center", on which you will need to left-click.

In the left part of the loaded window, a column with various submenus will be visible. Find and select "Change sharing settings".

This is where network discovery will be enabled. In the main part of the window, the "Network discovery" block will be presented, where there are two options: enable and disable. Set the marker to "Enable network discovery" and here, on the line below, put a tick on the "Enable automatic tuning on network devices. It remains only to save the changes made.

Now you can check for displayed network devices.

Working group

In the case when the results of the previous paragraph were not enough, you will need to change the parameters of the working group. This need may arise if the PCs connected to the same access point are running on various versions operating system.

To do this, you need to go to the system properties. You can do this by right-clicking on the "Start" button, then find and select the "System" position.

In the window that opens, we find a block where the parameters of the computer name, domain and workgroup are indicated. On the right side of the block there will be a column "Change settings", which you should click on.

A menu will be displayed on the screen, where all the above parameters will be displayed. The "Change" button will also be located here, which will allow you to assign the necessary parameter of the working group. It is worth noting that the goal is to change the name of the workgroup to a single name on all PCs that are connected to the Wi-Fi hotspot and should be displayed in the Network folder.

Now it remains only to enter the required name and reboot the device.

It lies in the fact that they didn’t figure out the trouble, because if you think a little, you can solve it yourself.

Solution

The most common problem is that a hasty user plugged the drive into the wrong connector. In a computer, everything has its own place, so you need to first check this nuance well.
