ZTE ZXHN H118N

Newer ZTE model ZXHN H118N with a price of about 1000–1200 rubles. already has a modem that allows you to connect to the network using mobile technology.

ZTE 5502

Preparing for setup

Before connecting a router of any selected type, you should first check its contents. The router should come with:

  • power unit;
  • Ethernet cable for connecting to a wired network (except for options for connecting to the Internet using only mobile technologies);
  • instructions, warranty and CD software.

Important: When connecting two networks from different providers to the router at once (for example, via WAN and mobile communications), it is also advisable to install a splitter to filter the signal. And you can increase the coverage with the help of additional antennas.

Creating an Internet connection

Important: Most often, when connecting with a cable, the network is detected automatically. If this does not happen, you may need to update or install network card drivers. And then set up a new connection.

Now that it is enabled, you can configure the connection itself.

In the WAN Connection menu, PVC0 is selected in the Connection Name line, and Route is set in the Type line.

After that, you need to choose to enter the name and password of the connection (when connecting the PPPoE type), with which you will enter the network.

The ADSL network is configured in much the same way, although the transition is to a different tab.

If the connection is made using a 3G / 4G connection, the setting is carried out through another tab - 3G WAN Connection.

Here, only the APN access point name is selected (you can find it on the provider's website or check with the company's technical support).

The rest of the settings are usually set automatically.

You should know: Depending on the model of the router, the names of the tabs may differ. For example, the access point name is sometimes required to be entered on a separate APN Settings tab. At the same time, all user actions will be approximately the same.

Additional sections

In addition to setting up a network connection, the user of the ZTE router has the ability to change other parameters:

  • for example, in the Multi-SSID section, you can make the network both open and closed;
  • the name of the connection is changed in the SSIDName column;

  1. In the Mode column, set Mixed (802.1b+802.11g+…);

  3. In the Channel section, Auto is selected;
  4. Transmitting Power should be set to 100%.

  1. Download the PuTTY terminal emulator.
  2. Install the ZTE diagnostic mode driver.

Attention! There is no possibility to reflash ZTE MF 190 modems from Rostelecom or other operators using official methods. For such tasks, the Dc-Unlocker program is usually used.

Also in the line of network equipment, ZTE also has routers, for example, H108N, adopted by users as an Ethernet modem for Rostelecom to set up high-speed home and work networks.

Preparing to set up the equipment

Before setting up ZTE routers under Rostelecom, for example, the E5501 model, you need to check the equipment package, which contains:

  • power supply (12V converter);
  • at least one Ethernet cable.

Of course, in the newly unpacked box from the device there will also be a software disk, a warranty and a lot of literature, but these components do not play an important role in setting up a ZTE modem under Rostelecom.

Attention! Even if you want to use the Internet only via Wi-Fi, an Ethernet cable is in any case an indispensable component that is needed for initial setup.

To connect the device, the first thing you need to familiarize yourself with is the ports on the rear panel.

Having deployed the ZTE E5501 side with functional connectors, as on the ZXV10 W300, here you can find:

  • four LAN ports;
  • Ethernet port;
  • connector for the power cable.

The ZTE H108N model will have one difference from the above modems, namely a connector for an ADSL cable (telephone cable), since this router is designed for Internet over a telephone line. This will not significantly affect the overall sequence of connecting network equipment. First of all, we connect the power supply to the socket and the port on the router, and then we insert the Internet cable into the WAN or ADSL port (depending on the modem model, one of these ports will be present). Now we find the RJ45 connector on the computer (standard network input) and connect it using an Ethernet cable to the corresponding port on the router. Since in our case there are four connectors, you can connect the cord to any.

Attention! If the ZTE H108N is configured, then in addition to the described sequence, it is also recommended to connect a splitter that filters the Internet and network signals. This will allow you to use two provider services at the same time.

When all the cords are connected, it will be possible to turn on the equipment, which is done using the button on the rear panel.

Now let's move on to the front of the device. It contains indicators that will help you find out about the status of options when setting up ZTE ZXV10 W300, H108N or E5501 modems for Rostelecom. For example, here is information about:

  • in which of the connectors is the computer connected;
  • is Wi-Fi working;
  • whether there is a connection to the provider and the Internet.

Setting up an Internet connection on ZTE ZXV10 W300, ZTE H108N, ZTE E5501

When the connection part is completed, you can proceed to setting up modems for Rostelecom, which we will do using the ZTE ZXV10 W300 as an example. We go from a computer connected directly to the modem to the browser and write in address bar router IP. You can find it in the equipment passport. In our case, it will be 192.168.1.1. Now we enter the standard login and password, which are also indicated in the instructions for the modem (admin / admin).

After that, you will be redirected to the device software control panel. In the Network tab, select the WAN parameters and make PPPoE setup connections according to the data provided by the provider. They can be found in the contract or on a special Rostelecom card.

Because the hardware supports wifi settings and such a modem is usually bought with the intention of connecting to the network wireless devices, you can configure the module operation on the Wireless tab. Here we select the network name (SSID), and also create a security key that will prevent unauthorized clients from connecting to your wireless network.

From ZTE, depending on its type (portable or stationary), it is produced in several stages. In the case of installing routers for private apartments or small offices, a suitable place is first selected, then the connection is made, and after that the connection parameters are entered.
