Hardware and software setup

Wexler tab 7000 firmware. Wexler t7008 firmware

Terribly cheap tablet with unusual stuffing for devices in this price category. Wexler TAB 7000 is something that can give you great quality at a low price by saving on pretty unimportant things. But, let's immediately move from high-profile statements to data and numbers.

Frame

This is exactly what does not shine. The design is the simplest, the back cover is glossy (fingerprints are always noticeable even in a very neat person), the plastic body slides. Although, if you are not going to throw your tablet at malicious enemies or admire your reflection in the back panel, these shortcomings are not significant.

The thickness is slightly more than average - as much as one and a half centimeters. The weight is quite normal. Of the benefits - the complete versatility of the design. Look anywhere and with anyone.

Buttons and connectors

And here is a little highlight. This is a full size USB-Host! It is rare to find such a useful option, especially in this price category. The presence of a USB host is the ability to connect directly to the tablet any external storage media or keyboards, mice, joysticks. A very handy item.

Of the standard connectors, there is a 3.5 mm headphone output, a microSD slot, a standard USB 2.0 output, and a not-so-functional miniHDMI connector. The only significant disadvantage of this whole system is the location on the lower sidebar. But, on occasion, no one has changed the auto-rotate yet.
There is nothing to say about the buttons: power and volume. In this nuance it is difficult to come up with something new. They are located on the top sidebar on the left side.

Screen

outside display protected by glass. It supports a fairly good resolution (800 × 480) for a seven-inch tablet, the matrix is IPS.
The screen supports the multi-touch system, with five touches. This is also an important nuance for a budget device, because the lack of this feature in cheap models always scares off gamers. True, many users complain that the sensitivity of the sensor is insufficient. But, if the touch sensitivity of this display is not enough for you, try to improve the sensor performance with the help of software upgrades. It fixes this minor problem in most cases.

In general, we can say that the screen quality of the Wexler TAB 7000 is above average if we compare devices in its price category.

OS and software

If someone has not guessed, we will talk about what you will see after turning on the tablet. Operating system far from new - Android 4.0.4. Yes, you won’t surprise anyone with “puff ice cream”. But the fourth generation of firmware is still too early to write off, since it has not yet been completed. In addition, this early quad looks quite nice, and some users like it even more than previous versions. And if you personally do not like it - in world wide web you can find a great variety of graphical skins that will transform your gadget.
Most applications from standard Google Play market will be available for this device. The manufacturer's company itself provides only a very entertaining Wexler.Play and a set of branded wallpapers.

Hardware

Since we have already reviewed the software, let's look under the lid of this tablet. Immediately it should be noted the processor. For normal home use, you don't need anything more powerful: Cortex A8, two cores, clock frequency 1.2 GHz. These characteristics justify the "most apps available" label.
RAM is also at a consistently good level - 1 gigabyte. It's not too much and not too little. It will not shine especially, but it will also cause problems.

Built-in memory is only 4 gigabytes. But, no one has yet canceled memory cards (though only up to 32 GB).
The battery also does not get out of the picture: its capacity is 4000 mAh. And that's about one or two days. battery life. Of course, everything depends on the intensity of use, but in more than eight hours you will not “plant” it.

Audio, video and photo

Wexler will not pamper you with a camera. Only 0.3 frontal megapixels, which can only provide communication via Skype. good photos don't expect from him.

But he has two speakers, with support for stereo sound. And most importantly, the speakers are located on the front side, towards the user. Alternatively, you can use headphones.
In terms of video playback, the Wexler TAB 7000 is good enough, but falls a bit short of HD. But agree, when you want to watch a movie in the maximum good quality- the screen is usually not a seven-inch tablet, so this characteristic can also be considered positive.

Internet

The main means of accessing the Internet is, of course, Wi-Fi. But it is quite possible to connect an external 3G modem (fortunately, there is a full-fledged USB host, so the 3G modem will not hang randomly on the OTG cable). It all depends on your preferences and willingness to tinker with the setting.

Equipment

In addition to a black seven-inch tablet, you will get instructions for using it, a USB cable, a cable adapter and a bonus multicard in the box.

But on last paragraph we're going to be a bit late so you don't throw this card away with the rest of the trash? Multicard is your opportunity to develop with a tablet from Wexler. Because it gives a decent discount on the purchase of books in the online store LitRes. I think that for the reading audience this card is a significant plus in favor of choosing equipment from this company.
Of course, the complete set would have looked more pleasant with a case or headphones, but given the cost of this purchase, additional accessories will have to be selected separately.

Do you need Wexler

Perhaps someone neither the review nor the device itself was impressed. But if you need a stable and high-quality tablet, which, however, is not among the most fashionable or most secure gadgets, then the Wexler TAB 7000 is a worthy option.

Today, for the first time, I encountered the need to flash an e-book from the manufacturer Wexler and now, after a successful update software and solving all the problems, I decided to create a note with instructions that may be useful to someone in the future.

This time my patient was e-book wexler book t7008, which many, not without reason, consider to be a kind of flagship of such devices, although there are those to whom this model seems terrible.

Before taking on the wexler t7008 firmware, I spent some time collecting information to find out about the possible pitfalls that may await me with this. At first I was wondering how to make full reset (hard reset) devices, but after a few minutes I realized that this was a bad thing.

Of course, it was not without visiting the famous w3bsit3-dns.com and a number of similar resources, but all searches were completely stopped as soon as I got to Wexler official website, where I found all the necessary information about the e-book, and was also able to download the firmware for wexler t7008. There I learned that if you flash the device yourself, all warranty obligations remain, which was very helpful, considering that this book was bought quite recently.

And so, we move from words to deeds. The manufacturer's official website has special section called "Software Download Center", which can be accessed by first selecting the model of tablet or e-book that interests us from the left menu.

The list of software (firmware) updates, drivers and instructions for wexler book t7008 is as follows.

  • Instructions for changing software for WEXLER BOOK T7008 models (pdf, 0.5 Mb)
  • Brief user manual (pdf, 2.9 Mb)
  • Complete user manual WEXLER BOOK T7008 (pdf, 18.3 Mb)
  • Firmware updater WEXLER.TAB 7000 (Windows7 32bit and 64bit) (zip, 9.7 Mb)
  • Basic factory software Android 4.0.3. Firmware version 1.2 (zip, 343 Mb)
  • Android 4.0.3 software update for WEXLER BOOK T7008 (zip, 353.4 Mb)
  • Android 4.0.4 software update for WEXLER BOOK T7008 (zip, 437.3 Mb)
  • Android 4.0.4 software update for WEXLER BOOK T7008 (updated version from 10/01/2012) (rar, 416.1 Mb)
  • List of compatible 3G modems for WEXLER BOOK T7008 (pdf, 0.1 Mb)
  • List of changes in firmware WEXLER BOOK T7008 (txt, 1 Kb)
  • PortSwitch (zip, 0.2 Mb)

You can download the required firmware or user manual by clicking on this link (the link has been removed - recently wexler no longer supports this model), and for those who are especially lazy, just for every fireman, I decided to publish detailed instructions, which I used myself just a few hours ago.

First of all, download the LiveSuit v1.0.9 firmware updater and directly one of the 4 firmwares (I used the latest updated firmware with version dated 10/01/2012).

Instructions for firmware wexler book t7008

1. Make sure the book is fully charged before flashing.
2. Save all your data from your device to HDD computer.
3. Make sure you have downloaded the firmware updater and the "software update" (or base software) from the website.
4. Unpack the archive with the firmware updater and the following folder will appear:

Open the folder and you will see the installer for the update (please note that the installation is carried out exactly in the place where the installer itself is located) For more correct work, move the installer to new folder created at the root local disk with the installed OS (usually it is the "C" drive).

5. Run the installer and select English.

At Windows installation may ask for permission to install drivers - confirm their installation.

6. Turn off your Wexler T7008 e-reader before installing new software.
Launch the update program by clicking on the LiveSuit.exe launch file, as shown in the screenshot below.

7. In the warning window that appears, click "NO"

8. In the program interface, click on the "select img" icon and select the firmware image that comes with the update.

This is an .img file (make sure you unpack the "software update" archive).

9. The book must be turned off. Hold down the “back” button (the “-” button minus the volume rocker) for 5 seconds, without releasing it, connect the miniusb cable. Then, without releasing the “back” button, press the power button (on) with short presses, with an interval of 2 seconds, about 6 times (maybe more), until the installation of the software on the detected device starts (this can be seen in the tray) .

10. If you are carrying out the process of flashing this device on a PC for the first time, then you need to wait until the drivers are installed (this process can be observed in the tray), then disconnect the book from the PC - and repeat the connection process described in paragraph "9" again.

11. After reconnecting, a pop-up message will appear in the update program (livesuit), notifying you that the update has begun. Confirm this request with the "yes" button.

For the next request, confirm with the same button.

12. The software installation process will begin, it will last about a minute. You can follow the progress of the update using the process bar.

13. After the software update is completed, the book will start to turn on. The first power on after flashing will take longer than normal power on. It is also recommended to manually reboot the device with the power button after the device is fully loaded.

14. The update process is finished and you can use the book again.

By the way, I never told what exactly the problem was and, in fact, why the wexler t7008 e-book needed to be flashed. The thing is that its owner set a password to enter the system in Latin, and after rebooting the device, only Cyrillic (Russian) characters were available to him for input. It is possible that this problem can be quite common in e-books with basic software.

I bought it for a trip on vacation (according to the principle, if they steal it, it's not a pity). It is supposed to be used for web surfing, watching movies and occasionally playing games, listening to music and reading.Design and appearance: looks great, fits comfortably in the hands, nice non-slip plastic. The screen is of good quality. Pixels are not visible. Pretty juicy, bright and contrasting picture - I don’t know how it will look in the sun. The sound is normal, everything is clearly audible. In headphones (in decent ones from Sony) it is very high quality. The volume margin is large. The internal hardware stuffing corresponds to the description. Everything works flawlessly and clearly (so far). Applications work without freezes. Wi-Fi holds well and clings to it without problems. Programs. Built-in readers are great! The browser is also quite fast and reliable. To satisfy your

Responsive screen, nimble even in comparison with more expensive devices. 2 "speakers" (stereo sound). battery (stable for 6-8 hours) wifi catches stably, at least 3 out of 4 divisions around the apartment (d-link dsl-2650u). wexler frequently updates firmware!

To be honest, I'm frankly surprised what they just stuffed into this super-budget state employee. Great idea to make affordable functional tablet, it's a tablet for people, and not just another semblance of an "apple" ideal .. Reading the characteristics, you fall in love with this tablet and its price. But it is not without flaws, which are gradually discovered during the study of this device.

In particular, I would like to warn those who want to buy a Wexler Tab 7000 tablet. If you want to avoid headaches, languid expectations of returning the device from service center, if you don't want to spend time flashing and opening the tablet... Be sure to check and test the tablet well before buying! A lot of tablets of this model can be factory defective. Among the unpleasant moments there are: an incomprehensible noise coming from the speakers, streaks on the display at the slightest pressure on the rear panel. By the way, if you still bought a tablet in an online store, and it doesn’t turn on, don’t panic right away! It is sold completely discharged, and it takes quite a long time to charge.

But if you like to figure everything out on your own, then ... Noise can be “cured” by flashing the device (it doesn’t always help), and stains can be removed by disassembling the tablet and moving the two wires away from the battery. Fortunately, the tablet is disassembled quite easily (do not forget that this automatically deprives you of the right to warranty and free repair in SC). Firmware can be found at Wexler website.

Appearance and connectors

It is small and compact. A bit thick compared to its budget counterparts, but with good reason. Although the body of the device is made of cheap plastic, it is not glossy. I've had enough of everything shiny, in my opinion, the matte finish will find its adherents. There is no build quality, the plastic bends every now and then when pressed, and in the lower right corner the display glass rises by about 1 mm. This does not affect the operation of the device in any way, just such backlashes and deflections remind that a cheap device is in the hands.

In general, the case is distinguished by slightly oval edges on the sides, in which the speakers are conveniently located on the front side. Yes, at least someone thought of placing the speakers closer to the user, and not away from him. Under the logo on the front side there is a small hole - this is a microphone. Rear panel also pleases - there is a soft corrugated rubberized insert, most likely, this was done specifically in order to minimize the risk of the tablet slipping out of your hands.

Now about connectors. Micro usb (for connecting charging or other devices via an OTG cable). Connector for micro-sd flash drives. 32 GB is supported, the device no longer sees a flash drive for 64. And then the heat went on: HDMI port (mini) - such a device can be connected to an external display with HDMI support, to view images, movies, games and other things on the big screen. Not bad, right? Look further - a full-fledged USB port (which is why the tablet looks plump). Not every tablet, even the more expensive one, boasts a full USB and mini HDMI port. This layout allows you to simultaneously connect charging to Micro USB, and to the “big” USB a regular USB flash drive, or an external 3G modem, or a keyboard. And you can also connect it all together using a USB hub.

Performance, tablet hardware

On the net you can find a lot of data that the tablet is dual-core, and the processor frequency is 1.2 GHz. Well, let's see if that's the case. In fact, here is the ARM Cortex A8 processor with a frequency of 1 GHz, single-core. Video accelerator - Mali-400. On the official website, they simply connected the numbers (CPU + GPU), and it turned out two cores, and all the rest, without understanding how false information is stamped under a carbon copy. And 1.2 GHz can only be achieved by overclocking the processor. But the tablet has honest 1 GB of RAM, 4 GB built-in for applications and user files.

In terms of performance, the device shows good results, as for its price. For example, it can handle 1080p HD video playback. It connects to an external screen without any problems, it displays a picture perfectly on the plasma via HDMI. Look at the result Antutu gives:

People often ask if there are heavy games on this tablet. Yes, they do, but not all. Some go, but with departures, some do not start, some freeze. But, if you have patience, you can study the special. branch on w3bsit3-dns.com, and by optimizing your tablet with special software, playing with graphic game settings, you can run more demanding games.

Here is a list of games that you can simply install and play with medium or low graphics settings: NFS Shift, Dead Space, Nfs HP, NFS MW, 9mm, Dead Trigger. GTA 3 also works (light version), but you will need saves with 100% completion, because some missions may not start. The main thing is to download the “correct” cache, and swap the memory card and internal memory, the forum will also help you with this. With regular games and applications, the device copes without any complaints. 1 gig of RAM though.

Display

And then came the disappointment. TFT matrix- here the colors are not as bright and saturated as the popular IPS, the viewing angles are much smaller. The screen resolution is the smallest I've seen on seven-inch tablets: 800 x 480. However, it couldn't be otherwise, and it's at least ridiculous to expect something more from a device in this price category. In general, I don’t see any tangible pluses and advantages in the display - it shows a picture, the sensor responds normally to touch, and that’s okay. By the way, for those who take the tablet as a “game console”, there is good news: the display is capacitive and supports multi-touch for five touches.

Speakers and camera

You only have to rejoice front camera by 0.3 MP, which is only enough to see the grainy display of the interlocutor while talking on Skype. The main camera was not in the plans here. But the dynamics are very pleasing. First, their location, on the front side of the panel. Secondly, they produce a fairly loud stereo sound. Well done here, nothing to say.

Software stuffing

Works on bare Android 4.0.4 version. Everything you need is installed from the market. According to the happy owners of this device, the software is a bit raw, not the best fit for this device. If desired, it will be possible to flash more stable firmware, which at the same time fixes minor software glitches. It is recommended to install the firmware with the update dated 12/05/2012. By the way, craftsmen install ubuntu on the tablet, who are interested, you will find information on the Internet.

Equipment

Nothing interesting here either. Not even an OTG cable. The set included only Charger, which turns into a USB cable with a flick of the wrist. Oh yes, there are instructions.

Battery and runtime

The battery capacity is good, as for a seven-inch state employee - 4000 mAh. There are complaints that the battery drains very quickly. Most likely, this is either some kind of glitch, or people do not know how to close active, but not used applications that are eating a charge. Or they ignore the warning that the tablet needs to be charged at least the first three times for 12 hours, after it is completely discharged. Initially, it takes quite a long time to charge - up to 4 hours.

Enough charge for 7 hours (at medium brightness level) to watch movies. For games, the tablet can be planted in 4-5 hours.

Outcome

There is a high probability of getting a device with a wheezing speaker when wi-fi is on, damp software stuffing and poor assembly spoil the impressions of good ones. specifications at a low price. Although, if you are lucky, you can get a good toy for the kids. Yes, and it can fit for watching movies. Experimental pilots will be delighted with the tablet: Wexler Tab 7000 is a paradise for those who like to torment, reflash, kill and resurrect their tablet. If something happens, it’s not particularly a pity, it costs some pennies.

Undoubted advantages over tablets in the same price category will be a 4000 mAh battery, a full USB port, mini HDMI connector and a whole gigabyte of RAM.
