In order for this product to function successfully (and very productively), you need a regular browser, where Accelerator is embedded. In this program, each file is uploaded to your favorite computer in parts, and whatever the connection, server or something else, the files will get to your machine much faster than using the browser's internal ftp client. The presence of Download Accelerator 3.5 becomes noticeable only when a file download window appears on the screen. Setting up the "octopus" is not too complicated, but it is not clear at first glance and may cause some problems for the "intermediate" user. Despite the fact that the program supports both http and ftp protocols, we did not manage to configure it to work with the latter. The one who is connected to the network through a proxy server will also have to tinker a bit: additional settings are required, which also turned out to be impossible to complete successfully.

Even before downloading the desired file, you can select the desired encoding, and DISCO Downloader will automatically select it to display the title of each page.

You can also choose whether the program will download all files in a row or only those that you need: pictures (gif, jpg, jpeg), sound files (wav, midi, an, aif, pcm, vox), video (avi, mov, mpg , mpeg), programs (exe), archives (zip, arj), etc. Optionally, you can set limits on link depth, file size, and so on. The rocker works with ftp- and http-protocols. The latter, however, she does not like, and therefore downloading from such addresses is often easy to start, but not so easy to finish. As you probably understood, the program has not so few advantages, and therefore it is not completely free, but "sharovary". The user is given a choice: either register for a certain amount (free for GlasNet subscribers) or download a demo version. She, of course, will not work for the rest of her life. But, I'll tell you a secret, after the first time you can install both the second and the third - as much as you like.

All "rocking chairs" by nature have the same set of qualities. In each program, some of these features are developed more and better, and some are worse. One program downloads better and faster, another downloads, the third one does both well, but it just freezes sometimes, etc. There are, of course, such “works” where, in principle, everything works very well, as they say, you can’t throw words out of a song. In my opinion, Netzip Download Demon 3.0 belongs to such programs. This rocking chair does everything well: it downloads quickly, and resumes, and works with any network protocols. In a word, very good software. But, surprisingly, Download Demon is interesting not only for this. We can say that the program has the beginnings of some intelligence, and this will not be a joke at all. As soon as you select something to download and click on download, a window appears in front of you, a little like a normal rocking window in a browser. By default, all downloaded files are placed in the C:\My Download Files directory, but you can always assign your own folder. As you know, if during the download the process is not interrupted by the fault of the server, it can be turned off - there is no other choice. But if you have Netzip Download Demon 3.0 installed, you can simply pause the process by looking up from your monitor to, for example, talk on the phone. To do this, just click on Pause. After the process of downloading the file, the program does not close and does not notify you of the completion of the work - it continues it. The user is prompted to unpack and install what he has just downloaded to his PC. And this happens by no means automatically - Download Demon gives you a choice: either continue working or not. Another of the important functions of this program is the ability to work on a schedule, and you can set the time to connect to the Internet and exit it. You can save one or two pages of the site using any browser. If you want to save the entire site or several photo albums or directories of multimedia files, then the possibilities standard means web browsing is not enough. If you need to place on HDD a copy of the site, then you should use special programs - offline browsers.

offline explorer ( http://www.metaproducts.com) - one of the best programs for downloading sites, which can download entire sites to a hard drive and show them to the user. In addition to ordinary web projects consisting of a set of simple HTML pages, Offline Explorer can also work with dynamic projects, that is, with sites made using PHP technologies.xml. Most programs of this class cannot download such projects.

In addition, Offline Explorer can recognize and download 15 types of images, almost 20 video and about 10 audio formats, and a dozen archives. The program can also download special files, such as Java scripts and Visual Basic, style sheets, Flash movies. All these features allow you to present the website stored on your hard drive in the same form as it was on the Internet.

Offline Explorer can also view and download the contents of FTP servers, allow access to sites via the secure HTTPS protocol.

You can work with the program using a convenient wizard. The program window visually displays the process of downloading the site, the contents of which will be available for viewing directly in the Offline Explorer window.

The program has a scheduler, a dialer function, which allows you to configure an offline browser so that it is strictly in certain time he himself connected to the Internet and performed a task, after completing which he immediately disconnected the connection (Fig. 2.68).

In addition, the program scans websites for changes. With the specified time interval, Offline Explorer will check for updates on the specified sites and, if they are found, download changed or new objects over the old ones. Trackability new information on sites will allow you to be sure that the offline copy of the site is fully consistent with the one posted on the Web.

A handy feature of Offline Explorer is template support. After creating a template and saving its parameters to create a download task, sometimes you only need to specify the address of the download site - the rest will be used from the finished template.

With the help of special programs, you can save this data in a special database in order to substitute this information into forms on web pages if necessary.

After installation, IE Scripter adds its own button to the toolbar Internet browser explorer. Having met the form on a web page, you need to enter the data, and then click this button. The browser window will display additional panel, which controls the operation of the program. The data entered in the form can be saved, while selecting the values ​​​​that you want to save and which not.

Having met the form on another site, click the Load button to use the saved data - the program will automatically substitute all the values ​​in the required fields. However, IE Scripter doesn't always work correctly, especially with dropdowns. In addition, it is not intended to use different data for a single page opened in Internet Explorer, for example, you cannot apply information from several mailboxes- the program is not able to remember several sets of values.
