Hardware and software setup

Software update check failed. What to do if the iPhone cannot download the new version of iOS

Due to an error, we will try to help you. Below we will talk about four ways solve this problem.

Error downloading iOS 13: what to do?

1. Try again

Yes, most likely you have tried to download the update several times already. However, keep trying, because at some point you may be lucky and iOS 13 will successfully download to your device.

2. Wait several hours

Immediately after the release of a major iOS update, millions of users try to download it. This puts a huge load on Apple servers, which can cause errors. We advise you to wait a few hours, or better a couple of days, and then try to download the update again.

3. InstalliOS 13acrossiTunes

If the solutions above didn't work for you or just don't suit you, you can upgrade to iOS 13 via iTunes. Connect your smartphone to the computer, launch the program and on the Overview tab click "Update".

4. InstalliOS 13manually

Your last resort is to download the iOS 13 IPSW file and update manually. This will definitely solve the problem, because Apple servers are not involved in the process.

Step 1: Download iOS file 13 IPSW for your iPhone.

Step 2: Connect your iPhone or iPod Touch to your computer and launch iTunes.

Step 3: Select the Browse tab.

Step 4: Clamp Shift key on a Windows PC or Alt/Option on a Mac and click the Restore iPhone button.

Step 5: Select the iOS 13 IPSW file you downloaded earlier.

iTunes will begin the process of installing iOS 13 on your device. After that, you will be able to restore your data from the backup.

I categorically welcome! iOS 12 is a fairly minor update to the mobile operating system. Apple has made the main bet on the stability of the system, and not on all sorts of "buns" and "chips". Therefore, even if you look very carefully, we will not see any breakthrough functions, space technologies and the strongest changes in it. However, as they say, it works well.

Or do you just have everything broken and nothing works at all? Do you keep getting weird errors during the update? Then you have come to the right place! Today we will try to figure out what kind of problems can arise with iOS 12 and, most importantly, how they can be fixed. Ready? Let's start!

A small but important digression.

It must be understood that it is simply impossible to consider absolutely all variants of errors. The author, unfortunately (or fortunately), is not omnipotent. However, this is precisely what comments exist for - write if you did not find the answer to your question. Let's try to overcome any mistake!

Now let's get right to it. Let's go! :)

Which devices support iOS 12

In fact, this is a very important point.

Here is an example from life.

Just yesterday, a friend approached me and said: “I heard that Apple has released some kind of iOS 12. And for some reason nothing comes to my iPhone 5. Maybe I'm doing something wrong? How to update something?

I had to explain that the new firmware on the iPhone 5 had already ended. Alas.

Therefore, we carefully look at the compatibility label. Here she is:

If your gadget is not there, then, unfortunately, iOS 12 is not available to you.

"You must have the latest version of iTunes to update to iOS 12" error

It would seem, what is there to paint? Everything is already written in the text of the notice. Do you want iOS 12? Install the most latest version iTunes and you will be happy!

However, it's not all that simple...

Sometimes, even if you and you already have the latest version installed, the program may “flicker” - it will still report that you need to update it.

Rave? Certainly. But, unfortunately, it happens.

What to do?

  1. To restart a computer.

After that, we connect the iPhone or iPad and update to iOS 12 quite calmly. There will be no more warnings.

Error 3194 when installing iOS 12

Of course, we are talking about iTunes.

iPhone or iPad have not yet learned how to give a description of errors in numbers.

So you're trying to update to iOS 12 via iTunes and you're getting error 3194.

What to do? There are these options:

  1. Disable antivirus, firewall, and other programs that may prevent iTunes from contacting Apple servers.
  2. Run iTunes as administrator.
  3. Verify hosts file in Windows (Internet for help) - it must be "clean".
  4. Make sure that you are trying to update to the firmware version that is on this moment subscribes(). Roughly speaking - you need to install the latest iOS version.

Of course, this error does not exclude “iron” reasons, but most often the problem is either in connecting to Apple servers, or in the firmware file itself. These are the things you need to pay attention to first.

You just want to install the firmware and immediately some nonsense begins. The update seems to be there (well, they still talk about it!), But the device itself simply does not see any new version of iOS 12 and reports:

An error occurred while checking for a software update.

How to make iPhone or iPad see new firmware? There are several ways:

  1. Reboot your device.
  2. Check your internet connection. Connect to another Wi-Fi network.
  3. Installing the iOS 12 beta? Check for the appropriate profile in "Settings - General - Device Management".
  4. Firmware version "most common"? On the contrary, make sure that there are no profiles.
  5. Use iTunes.

Plus, sometimes it helps to just wait - when new versions of iOS are released, the Apple servers can simply be overloaded and give out some strange messages that have nothing to do with reality.

Perhaps the most popular mistake when trying to update iOS 12 "over the air". Most often it looks like this:

  1. The firmware is being loaded.
  2. The "Check for Update" window appears.
  3. After a few minutes, we get "Update installation failed. An error occurred while iOS installation 12".

What to do?

The easiest option:

Update via iTunes.

Is there a computer nearby? Then you can try:

  1. See how much free memory is on your iPhone or iPad. If there is very little, you need to free up space (delete several games and applications).
  2. Check the status of Apple's servers (see the previous subheading for a link on how to do this).
  3. Check internet connection (try using a different Wi-Fi network)
  4. Go to settings - find the already downloaded firmware file - delete it. The system will download the software again and try to install again.

But, I repeat, it is better and more reliable through iTunes.

Unable to check for update. iOS 12 update failed validation...

Of course, not the entire text of the error is presented in the title. Only its beginning. And here it ends with the words:

The iOS 12 update failed validation because the device is no longer connected to the internet.

We check the Internet on the iPhone or iPad - everything works. So what do you need Apple?

In fact, in most cases, this error has nothing to do with the Internet. Here, again, it's all about the notorious signature of the firmware. If this version iOS is already outdated and does not sign, then you can not install it.

I have a good (I hope) instruction on how to fix this error in just a few minutes - (without registration and SMS).

Perhaps, at the moment, these are all the most common problems that can await you if you fail to update to iOS 12. However, we all know Apple as a very mysterious company - it is almost impossible to predict the appearance of new errors.

P.S. Therefore, if you suddenly encounter some kind of failure - write in the comments. I do not promise that everything will work out, but we will still try to defeat the problem all together!

P.S.S. Did the instructions help? Want to support the author? Do not be shy - put "like" and press the buttons social networks. Thanks!

When Apple releases an operating system update for iOS devices, we can see it and download it through the Settings - General - Software Update app. As a rule, a red icon with the number "1" appears next to the Settings application icon, signaling an update.

Performing a forced restart may be the only thing needed to remedy the situation, especially if minor firmware glitches are the main triggers. What probably happened is that the update system crashed, causing your device to stop connecting to the update server and get stuck checking for updates. If you haven't done so yet, then you should consider forcing a restart first. possible solutions. Here's how it's done:

  1. Quickly press and release the volume up button.
  2. Quickly press and release the volume down button.
  3. Then press and hold the Power button until the Apple logo appears.

If you are using an iPhone or iPad with physical button"Home", follow these steps to force restart:

  1. Press and hold the Power button and the Home button at the same time until the device turns off and restarts.
  2. When the Apple logo appears, release the Power and Home buttons.

Let the device finish downloading and then reconnect to Wi-Fi.

Second solution: Turn off Wi-Fi and turn it back on.

Random internet issues, especially Wi-Fi dropouts or intermittent internet connection, are also possible causes. If your device does not have a stable internet connection, it will not be able to install secure connection to the update server. Eventually, the update process will be interrupted and fail. To fix minor Wi-Fi issues like this one, wifi toggle may I help. Here's how it's done:

  1. Select WiFi.
  2. Then toggle the switch to disable Wi-Fi.
  3. After a few seconds, toggle the switch again to turn Wi-Fi back on.

Performing this setup is also a way to update your device's internet features. Random internet issues caused by minor firmware glitches and app glitches are also fixed in the process.

Third solution: Forget Wi-Fi network, then reconnect.

Using damaged WiFi networks is also one of possible causes. The same can happen if WiFi connection will be broken or corrupted by other saved Wi-Fi networks. To eliminate this, it is recommended to forget about the Wi-Fi network. To do this, Wi-Fi must be turned on so that you can view a list of all saved Wi-Fi networks on your device. Then follow these steps to start forgetting Wi-Fi networks:

  1. Go to Settings -> Wi-Fi menu and make sure the Wi-Fi switch is turned on.
  2. Navigate to the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
  3. Select the Wi-Fi network you want to forget.
  4. Then click the "i" information icon next to the Wi-Fi network name to forget.
  5. Click Forget this network to continue.
  6. Then confirm that you want to forget the network.

If you see any other saved Wi-Fi networks, remove them all using the same procedures so that none of them cause conflicts with your Wi-Fi network.

After removing Wi-Fi networks, restart your device and go back to Settings -> Wi-Fi menu. Turn Wi-Fi off and on. When the list of Wi-Fi networks appears, click to select your preferred Wi-Fi network, and then click Join or Connect. If required, enter the correct wifi password, to continue.

Fourth solution: Reset network settings.

Network problems are usually resolved by resetting the network. Incorrect network configurations can lead to related errors, and The best way fix them - restore the original values and network settings. Performing this reset will not affect the saved data during internal memory, but will erase all saved Bluetooth connections, Wi-Fi networks, APNs and server settings on the phone. If you want to try this workaround, then here is what you should do next:

  1. On the main screen, tap "Settings".
  2. Select General.
  3. Scroll down and click Reset.
  4. Select the Reset network settings option.
  5. Enter your device password when asked to continue.
  6. Then click on the option to confirm that you want to reset network settings.

The device will reboot automatically after the reset is completed. Once it downloads, turn on Wi-Fi to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network and get back online. Once your device is connected, download and install the iOS 13 beta again and see if it goes through. If your device gets stuck when re-checking for an update, go to the next solution.

Fifth solution: Remove the update file from your device.

During the first update you made, the update file segment was probably downloaded and stored in your device's memory. But since the update was not completed, this file was corrupted. As a result, your device can no longer download full file updates. To fix the error, you will need to delete the downloaded part of the update file before trying to download again. Here's how it's done:

  1. On the main screen, tap "Settings".
  2. Click General.
  3. Tap [Device] Storage.
  4. Find the update file in the list of applications and files, and then click to select.
  5. After selecting the update file, tap the Delete File option.

Confirm the action if you are prompted to do so and wait until the update file is removed.

As a last resort: use iTunes.

If your device keeps getting stuck while checking for an update after exhausting all of the above procedures, then you might want to consider using iTunes. If you have the latest version of the iTunes app installed on your computer, you can use it to manually download and install the iOS 13 beta. Here is what you should do then:

  1. Connect your iOS device to your computer with the original USB/Lightning cable.
  2. Open iTunes and wait for it to detect your device.
  3. When your device appears in iTunes, click on its icon to select it.
  4. Go to the Summary section, then click the Check for Updates button.
  5. If an update is available, click the Download and Install button.
  6. Enter your password if prompted to continue.

Follow the rest of the on-screen instructions to complete the device update in iTunes.

Still unable to fix iOS 13 stuck when checking update error?

It is possible that the update server is currently overloaded or temporarily unavailable so your device cannot check for and receive the update file. If this is the case, then there is little you can do other than wait until the update server becomes available again. Can you confirm Current state update server by contacting Apple Support and asking them to check the server status directly from their system.

And if nothing else works, then it's best to just wait for the official release of the final version of iOS 13 this September.

Ever since Apple released iOS 12, many people can't wait to see the new operating system. However, problems have been identified. Found that some users got the error after updating iOS 12. Don't worry, in this article, we will share several ways to solve this update problem.

How to fix iOS 12 update issue

Method 1: Force Reset iPhone

The update on iOS 12 may have been fixed for Apple devices. However, the device may freeze during the update. A forced reset allows the user to resolve any issues that arise at an early stage.

Force Reset for iPhone XS/XS Max/XR/X/8

  • 1. Press and release the volume up (+) button.
  • 2. Press and release the volume down (-) button.
  • 3. Press and hold the side button until the Apple logo appears. Do not release the side button, even if the screen turns black, until the white Apple logo appears on the screen.

Force Reset for iPhone 7/7+

  • 1. Press and hold the Sleep / Wake and Volume down buttons at the same time for a while.
  • 2. Hold down the buttons until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
  • 3. When the logo appears, release the buttons and the phone will restart.

Force Reset for iPhone 6 and earlier

An error when updating iOS 11 may cause the system to not be installed or to get up incorrectly, so that it will be uncomfortable to use the device. Errors when downloading an update over the air or installing via iTunes can be corrected on your own, without contacting a service center.

Supported Devices

If you didn't receive the iOS 11 update when you connected your device to the Internet via Wi-Fi, and an error occurred when trying to install the update in iTunes, make sure that the model supports new version systems.

Note that iOS 11 can be installed on the iPhone 5S, but the iPhone 5 and 5C are not listed. So it will not work to put an update on them in any case, you will have to be content with the capabilities of the previous version.

Failed to check for update

Errors can occur at different stages of the update. For example, at the very beginning, even before the update is loaded, the following message appears:

If your device supports iOS 11 but can't find the update, follow these steps:

  • Do a hard reset. Hold down the Home and Power buttons (Power and Volume Down on iPhone 7 and above) until the screen turns off.
  • Check your internet connection. Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network.
  • Delete the developer profile if you added it to test the beta version (Settings - General - Profiles - iOS Beta Software Profile - Delete).
  • Try updating through iTunes.

Immediately after the release of the update, failures can occur on the side of Apple servers that cannot cope with the influx of users. In this case, it remains only to wait for your turn to download. If the device detected an update and started downloading it, but the download was interrupted by an error, wait a bit and try downloading the update again.

Pay attention to:

  • The amount of free space in memory.
  • Internet connection stability.

If the update is not downloaded over the air, install it via iTunes.

Problems with downloading the update in iTunes

Updating via iTunes can also be imperfect. One of the common problems is error 9006, which appears when updating or restoring the firmware. A failure indicates an inability to establish a connection with Apple servers.

Error 9006 when updating iOS 11 is resolved in the following ways:

  • Check network connection. Make sure the connection is stable.
  • Quit iTunes and restart the program.
  • Install the latest version of iTunes. Update the application through the "Help" menu or completely remove it from the computer along with all components and install the new version downloaded from the Apple website.
  • Restart your computer.
  • Try connecting the device to another USB port. Use the connectors on the back system block. Avoid adapters.
  • Temporarily disable your anti-virus software and firewall.

Usually, to fix error 9006, it’s enough to disable the firewall, which prevents you from connecting to Apple servers. The iTunes option is good in that even if the Apple servers are not responding, you can download the firmware from a third-party trusted source (for example, w3bsit3-dns.com site) and install it without any problems.

  1. Hold down the Shift key and click Restore.
  2. Specify the path to the firmware through the explorer.

iTunes will install the new system on its own, and you will save time downloading the update.

Difficulties with installation

If you downloaded the update to your device “over the air”, but there are problems during the installation phase - it fails, or the installation is too slow - try the following methods:

  1. Hard reboot your device.
  2. Check the battery level. Plug in your charger.
  3. Make sure your Wi-Fi connection is stable.

If you can't install the update on your phone or tablet, update via iTunes. As a last resort, you can put the device into DFU mode, and then perform a recovery. With this approach, the probability of errors is minimal.

If after the update on the iPhone the screen stops working or freezes,

In the article, we will talk about the reasons why the iPhone is not updated over the air or via iTunes to new versions of iOS, and we will also tell you what to do in such situations.

No update software not a single device is dispensed with, except for gadgets that, due to their age, have ceased to be supported by the manufacturer.

Therefore, if the iPhone does not want to be updated, then this is an occasion to think about its condition. Issues can occur both when using iTunes and when updating over-the-air over Wi-Fi. In any case, the error correction methods will be the same.

Version support check

First of all, make sure that the version of the operating system you want to install supports your phone. For example, iOS 10 won't work on iPhone 4 and previous models like the iPhone 3G. The same applies to the first generation iPad.

If you have an iPhone 4, then you can not try to install the latest version of iOS, it simply will not install. If the device is relatively new (the model appeared after the iPhone 4), then you will have to look elsewhere for the cause of the problem.

Deleting a profile

In some cases, the configuration profile created in the settings interferes with the update. After removing it, the new version of iOS is installed without problems:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Go to the "Basic" section.
  3. Find the "Profile" item.

Inside the "Profile" item at the bottom there is a "Delete" button. Click on it to clear the data from the settings, then restart the device and try updating again via Wi-Fi or iTunes.

If the smartphone supports the new version of iOS, there is no profile in the settings, or you have already deleted it, but the update still does not start or fails, then try the following recommendations:

  • Opt out of updating via Wi-Fi and connect your phone to a computer to install the new version via iTunes.
  • Make sure you are using the latest version of iTunes. Download the program from the official Apple website.
  • Check the battery level, it should be over 50%. If the phone needs to be charged, then when updating, charge it from a wall outlet.
  • Make sure your internet connection is stable. Operating system weighs quite a lot, so you need to download the update good speed the Internet.
  • Try changing the cable, using a different USB port, connecting the device to a different computer.

Sometimes an update fails due to high load on Apple servers. Wait a bit and try updating again. If you already have a downloaded file with a new version of iOS on your computer, then install it manually:

If no manipulations with the device help to resolve the update error, then contact the service center.

When on Apple presentations talk about new functions and cool features that the developers have added to version 10 of the system, I want to test interesting features as soon as possible. But what to do when some errors occur and Why is ios 10 not updating? on a smartphone or tablet?

Why iOS is not updating - the main reasons

In fact, there are many reasons for failure. In 99% of cases, you can do without going to the service center, unless of course the malfunction of the device is not caused by any mechanical damage. In such cases, it should be understood that if you “drowned” the phone, but it seems to be working, this does not mean that everything in it is functioning normally. In any case, before going to the service, we recommend that you read and follow the recommendations below.

Model Compatibility

In 2016 year of Apple stopped supporting some "oldies". Unfortunately, not all device users will be able to enjoy all the innovations of the OS. First of all, we recommend checking the compatibility of your device with IOS 10. Which models support ios 10? The list is presented here:

If your model is on the list, then we look for the problem further.

Check internet

The error may be that users are trying to download files using 3G cellular data. You can only update over the air using WiFi.

Reset network settings

Some owners of Apple devices have found a solution to this problem. All you have to do is reset your internet settings. Let's go here:

Settings - General - Reset - Reset network settings

Version conflict

If a beta version 10 of the system was previously installed for review, then it is quite possible that it conflicts with the official release.

First you need to delete the beta profile in Settings.

Settings - Profiles - iOS Beta Software Profile - Delete Profile

After rebooting the device, it will be possible to install a new tenth system in the Software Update.

If it gives an error

Sometimes an error may appear "Software Update Failed". This usually happens in the early hours of an official release when Apple's servers are overloaded. Because of a large number people who wish to test the new system experience some failures. In this case, you just need to wait a bit. But sometimes the wait reaches several days.

Jailbreak conflict

One more reason: Why is ios 10 not updating?, can become a jailbreak and installed application Cydia on the phone. Since when installing a jailbreak, updates are specifically blocked for correct operation and availability of all functions.

The system can be restored through iTunes. For the subsequent installation of the jailbreak, make sure that it does not conflict with new versions.

Software update check stuck

Why is the software update stuck and Why is IOS not updating? on a smartphone? When an endless download appears on the screen, you need to check your Internet connection. The problem may also be on Apple's servers, which simply do not have time to process requests from millions of users.

If there are no problems with the Internet and servers, then you can do forced reboot: simultaneously hold down Home and Power for a few seconds.

Update via computer

If all else fails, then the computer can come to the rescue. You can update with using iTunes. The program itself may automatically offer to download and install the new version on your phone or iPad. If this does not happen, then in the "Overview" tab, you must click the "Update" button.

Solution for experienced

If none of this helped, and the answer to the question: why is ios not updating still not given, then you can go to extreme measures. The update itself can be downloaded manually using the downloaded IPSW file. This action does not depend on Apple servers in any way, which increases the chances of good update systems.

Performing all the steps is only for experienced users who have been working with Apple for a long time.

  1. First you need to download the current version of the IPSW file on the Internet, which corresponds to the user model.
  2. Connect your device to iTunes with a cable.
  3. Next, you need to go to the updates section in iTunes.
  4. Hold down Shift (Windows) or Option/Alt (Mac) and click Refresh. At the end we will get an updated system. If you select the "Restore" function, then in the end we will get a clean new system.
  5. Select the IPSW file that was downloaded earlier.
  6. After all the steps taken, iTunes begins to update the smartphone or tablet itself.

After all the operations done, the famous greeting from Apple will appear, and the newest update will be installed on the phone!

“An error occurred during installation” is a message that accompanies one of the most common problems when updating iOS over the air. After the release, this problem began to manifest itself in users much more often than usual, but, fortunately, it is quite simple to deal with it.
