If, in addition to the layout in Russian and English language, you want to add a Ukrainian or some other virtual keyboard to the iPhone, then this is done in the Settings application:

Settings - General - Keyboard - Keyboards

What to do if your country is not in the list of iPhone keyboards?

Setting up keyboard layouts using the method above, it turned out that there are no layouts in the Kazakh and Belarusian languages in the iPhone list. If the layout of your country is also not in the list of keyboards, then it can be installed separately by searching in App Store, there are both paid and free offers from developers.

To install keyboards from the App Store, you will need (however, as well as to install other applications).

Free Belarusian layout is here:

To install keyboards downloaded from the App Store, use the method described above. And to configure third-party keyboards, launch the application that appears on the desktop.

Switch iPhone keyboard language while typing

To switch layouts and change the input language, the iPhone keyboard is equipped with a button with a globe. To change the language, click on the globe button. To select a language (if you have many), hold this button until a small context menu and choose a keyboard.

iPhone keyboard click sound

To date, iOS firmware does not provide the ability to select or set your own button clicking sound. virtual keyboard.

The sound of clicks can be turned on or off, this is done here - Settings - Sounds - Keyboard clicks.

Is it possible to put keyboard vibration on the iPhone

Among standard features iOS firmware does not yet have the ability to enable tactile vibration signals that are triggered by pressing the buttons on the virtual keyboard. But I think that in the near future, if not a standard, then a third-party solution can satisfy this need of some users, and quite legally, without jails.

Does the iPhone have a black keyboard?

So far, the standard black keyboard is available on the iPhone only when using Spotlight search or when you turn on . If I'm not mistaken in the previous iOS versions the dark keyboard appeared in some places when lowering the transparency and darkening the colors in the accessibility contrast settings, but this feature does not work for us.

But looking for the Belarusian keyboard, we discovered the Yandex.Keyboard application (the link is above), in the settings of this add-on you can enable the black keyboard. In addition to black, there is pink, blue and others. In principle, the solution, although third-party, but it looks like nothing. So if you want to change the color of the keyboard in the iPhone, then take a look at the application.

Where on the iPhone keyboard is the sign - number (№)

The iPhone virtual keyboard hides some letters and symbols. Where and how to find the letter Ё and a solid sign (Ъ), read -.

Well, the sign "number" No. appears when you hold down the "hash" sign (#) and becomes available for use.

iPhone virtual keyboard as a touchpad

3D Touch-enabled iPhone models (iPhone 6S, ) now have the ability to use the phone's entire display as a touchpad for cursor control. I don’t know if this feature will take root, but so far it looks like it hasn’t been finished.

You can control the cursor in the area of your text only, in principle, this thing will appeal to guys with thumbs, who find it difficult to quickly place the cursor in the right place in the text.

It works like this: we press on any part of the iPhone virtual keyboard and press down with our finger until the letters disappear (if the letters do not disappear, do not press the screen with full force, check if 3D Touch is enabled in the settings). As soon as the letters of the virtual keyboard have disappeared, this means that the touchpad mode is activated and by moving your finger across the screen you control the cursor in the field of your text. To highlight words or whole sentences, press down on the screen a little more and highlight the desired area. The thing does not work with other people's text, for example with Web pages.

How to enable emoji in the keyboard on iPhone

IN latest firmware Emoji emoticons are enabled by default. If you do not have emoticons, then enable them like this - ""

With update operating system, especially as dramatically as the last time, questions often arise: “Where did my usual…”, and further in the text. Now I want to touch on what I was looking for myself, namely the buttons ".com" in set address bar safari.

If all the past years, the old operating systems themselves obsessively slipped the calling button under the finger ".com", then, not finding it in the usual place on I was, to put it mildly, confused. Of course, it was not at all difficult to manually enter the desired address, but the indignation at the “seven” remained in my soul.

To satisfy my own curiosity, I began to look for information about the disappeared function and found not only it.

Button ".com", with which the search was started, is now in the "." button. A long press on it brings up hidden icons on the screen, among which there are not only the above domain zone, but also ".ua", ".ru", ".rf", ".net", ".org", ".edu", ".us".

As for other hidden signs, in Russian keyboard, as before, the keyboard button "e" hides underneath "yo", and when you click on the soft sign "b" pops up and solid sign "b".

English layout pleases much big amount hidden signs. Button "e" stores in itself all the spellings of this letter in different languages, they work in the same way "y", "u", "i", "o", "a", "s", "l", "z", "c" And "n".

As for the numeric keypad, all currency designations are hidden under the button «$» . Therefore, you should not copy and paste the Euro sign from websites or from letters. Smart quotes can be replaced with book "Christmas trees", a dot can be replaced with an ellipsis, a minus sign on a dash or a hyphen.

It is clear that many will now say that most, if not all, knew about this, but it is still worth noting that there are more and more users of iGadgets every year, and those who delved into file system the first firmware, significantly differ from today's users both in knowledge and skills.

Happy iPhone owners are sometimes shocked by how hard some features are to find. For example, putting a regular number sign, that is, "No", is not so simple.

Searches on the iPhone or iPad keyboard usually end up with nothing and then it all ends up with the user simply turning to Google for help.

Today I will tell you how to put this sign, where it is located and why Apple always hides all the most necessary functions from us.

Where is the number sign on the iPhone keyboard?

As you probably know, the iPhone typing keyboard is one of the most comfortable and fastest among all modern devices.

It has been worked on for years so that you can type text as comfortably and quickly as possible. The same goes for the iPad, where there's a lot more to come.

When it comes to signs, letters and symbols that are simply impossible to find, then everything is so simple. So simple that you will be moving away from it for a long time.

Sometimes people need to put a number sign and all they find is a "#" sign, but we need a "#". Therefore, we follow these steps:

  1. we go into any application where there is a keyboard;
  2. check that it is Russian keyboard layout;
  3. click the icon "123" and then «#+=» ;
  4. looking for a symbol # , holding which the desired number sign appears.

Such a miracle works in many cases if you cannot find something. The decision is actually quite logical, because the screen of the smartphone is not too big.

And so that you don’t have porridge and don’t look for a long time, everything was placed by buttons, where you can find two, three, or even more signs.

On the keyboard of almost any apple (and not only) device, you can type the Apple logo. Agree, Pay and Music looks much cooler than plain text! In addition, this way you can reduce the amount of text by 4 characters, which can be critical when writing a post for Twitter or Instagram.

If you have a Mac, then you probably already noticed that there is no shortcut for the Apple icon on its keyboard. However, it's not that hard to get it.

Character encoding

The Apple logo symbol displays correctly on all iPhones, iPads, iPod touch, Mac, Apple TV and Apple Watch. On iOS, macOS, and tvOS, you can print it, but on watchOS, you can't get it in dictation or drawing mode.

On third party platforms and browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox And Microsoft Edge the symbol may appear as an empty square, a strange icon, or something else altogether.

It's not Apple's fault.

Both the Apple and Windows logos are part of the extended character sets because corporate logos cannot be in the standard Unicode set. Due to limited implementation, such characters may not be readable on other platforms.

In ASCII encoding, the Apple logo corresponds to the following values:

  • Decimal code: 240
  • Hex code: F0
  • Unicode: U+F8FF

On this keyboard, you can see the location of all special characters. Press keys like Control (⌃) and Command (⌘) to see them all.

Remembering the combination is not difficult, but you can enter this special character in a more elegant way.

iPhone and iPad

The keyboard shortcut Option (⌥)-Shift (⇧)-K there is no alternative on iOS. However, there is a feature on i-devices that makes typing  even easier than on a Mac.

It's about text replacement (available on macOS too). With its help, you can configure the replacement of any word with the desired character (or another word / phrase). For example, in this way you can configure the replacement (c) for the © icon or change aapl to .

Here's how to do it:

  1. open Settings on your iPhone or iPad
  2. Click Main
  3. Click Keyboard
  4. Click Text Replacement
  5. Click on the “ + ” in the upper right corner to add a new abbreviation
  6. Copy the symbol  from this article and paste it into the line Phrase
  7. In line Reduction enter a word that your iOS device will automatically change to the desired character. For example, 'aapl' - the main thing is not to use words that you write regularly so that the phone does not offer a replacement when it is not needed
  8. Click Save to accept changes

Now every time you type the selected word and press the space bar, it will change to a logo. This works on both iOS and Mac wherever you type: in documents, notes, browser, messages, and more.

The main advantage here is synchronization. Text replacement phrases are automatically synced across all your devices via iCloud, so you don't have to set up each device individually.

If you are using wireless keyboard with an iPad or iPhone, you can use the combination Option (⌥)-Shift (⇧)-K like on a poppy.

Apple Watch

As already mentioned, there is no way to enter a logo on the Apple Watch, since the clock input methods do not support special characters.

However, this icon is readable in all applications (for example, in Posts And Reminders) because it is supported by the default font in watchOS.

Apple TV

To enter your logo on your Apple TV, do the following:

Method 1 (with external keyboard)

  1. On your Apple TV 4 or Apple TV 4K, in Settings, go to Remote access and devices > Bluetooth. On earlier models, simply select Settings > Main > Bluetooth.
  2. Select a keyboard from the list of available devices.
  3. If the system requires, then enter a 4-digit code
  4. Click on any field that supports text input - such as the search bar in the settings app
  5. On the keyboard, press Option (⌥)-Shift (⇧)-K

Method 2 (without external keyboard)

  1. On iPhone or iPad with iOS firmware 11 or higher open Settings > Command centre> H customize controls and press " + ” next to the item Apple TV Remote
  2. Make sure your device has abbreviations added as described above
  3. IN control point your smartphone, add the Apple TV Remote widget
  4. On Apple TV from using Siri Remote highlight any text in input panel
  5. On an iOS device, tap the newly added widget, select the desired set-top box, enter the 4-digit password if necessary. Apple screen TV or tap the notification that comes on iPhone after highlighting text on Apple TV

Note that the widget only works with Apple TV 4 and Apple TV 4K and requires iOS 11 or higher. If you have an older Apple TV or haven't updated to iOS 11 yet, download the free apple app TV Remote (or iTunes Remote) in the App Store to control the set-top box through it.

In either of these two ways, you can change the name of your Apple TV to tv.

Windows

As we already mentioned, the Apple symbol is included in the extended character set.

It refers to personal use symbols that are intended for certain applications and devices that display characters outside basic set Unicode.

This is due precisely to the fact that Unicode does not contain corporate logos, so the Apple icon will not be displayed on Windows, Linux and other platforms, and the Windows icon is not available on the Mac.

Windows has several ways to enter special characters, but we'll focus on perhaps the most popular method: alt codes. To do this, you need to hold down the Alt key on the keyboard and type the decimal code of the desired character. Full list codes can be found at unicode-table.com.

Important: Mandatory to enter 0 at the beginning, although in Unicode the decimal code for this character is simply 240.

Don't worry if your laptop doesn't have a numeric keypad, you can still enter special characters. For this:

  1. Open the document where you want to add the Apple logo
  2. Enter on the keyboard F 8 F F
  3. Click Alt X

The Apple logo will appear at the location of the document where the cursor is.

Note that entering characters through alt will not work if the selected font does not provide a graphic representation of the desired character. If this is your case, but you still need this symbol, just type it in a different font (Baskerville Old Face will do), copy and paste it anywhere in the document.

HTML

The Apple logo and any other special characters can be used in blog posts and web pages with using HTML. To do this, enter the value of the character in Unicode - in our case it is F8FF (Rate)

As experience has shown, full-fledged work with text on the iPad - especially when using an external keyboard - is quite possible. At the same time, however, there is whole line specific techniques and tricks that are specific to this particular tablet.

This "cheat sheet" is dedicated to such techniques.

Screen keyboard

For cursor position you need to touch with your finger desired area screen and, without moving your finger, hold the touch for 2-3 seconds. After that, a "magnifying glass" appears, showing in detail the area touched with the cursor. Without releasing your finger, move the cursor to the desired location.

Releasing your finger while the "magnifying glass" is visible causes a menu to appear at that location, allowing you to **select and copy text to the clipboard, as well as paste it from the clipboard (depending on the specific application, the appearance of this menu may vary slightly).

In some applications, text selection markers that look like “pins” appear simultaneously with the menu, in others, the menu item “select” (or “select”) is responsible for their appearance. By moving the markers, mark the desired fragment of text with them, then select the menu item “cut” (“cut”) or “copy” (“copy”).

There are other ways to highlight text. Short tapping with two fingers within a paragraph selects the entire paragraph. Long tapping with two fingers apart selects text between touch points.

Touch? causes the next character to change case from lower to upper or vice versa. If you need to type MULTIPLE characters in a different case, then you need to touch both?. For this in system settings“Basic? Keyboard" must be enabled. cap lock". There is also an option "Autocaps", in which after entering a period, the next character is automatically converted to uppercase. Screen key? you can use it in the same way as on a regular keyboard: touch it, then without releasing it, touch the desired character and release your fingers.

in Russian on-screen keyboard dot and comma are missing. For fast entry points you can enter two spaces in a row, which are converted by the system into a period-space combination. (For this to work, you need to enable the option “Shortcut “.”” in the system settings “General? Keyboard”). The comma, unfortunately, is available only from the digital layout (see below).

For entering the letter "ё" in the Russian layout, you must press `e` and hold the touch for 2-3 seconds. An image of an additional key will appear, to which you need to move your finger without lifting it from the screen.

In the Latin layout, the keys `e` `y` `u` `i` `o` `a` `s` `z` `c` `n` are similarly "expanded", allowing you to enter these letters with various superscript and subscript accents . The "expansion" of the `!,` and `?.` keys allows you to enter an apostrophe and a quotation mark.

Available fast access from alphabetic to digital. To do this, touch the `.?123` key and hold the touch for 2-3 seconds. A digital layout will appear, on which you need to move your finger to the desired key without lifting it from the screen.

On the digital layout, the following keys are "expanded":

  • `0` - degree symbol "°";
  • `-` - various dashes ("-", "-") and the list element character " ";
  • `$` - currency symbols "??€??";
  • `&` - paragraph character "§";
  • `.` - ellipsis "...";
  • `!` and `?` are inverted images "?" And "?";
  • `'` - 'single' quotes and backtick;
  • `"` - "different" "kinds" of "double" quotes.

On additional numeric keypad, called by `#+=`, "expands" the `%` key, making the ppm character "‰" available.

External keyboard

Unlike PC keyboards, the Apple keyboard has not three, but four modifier control keys: `? Shift` `strl` `? cmd` `? alt`

The arrows `?` `?` `?` `?` work normally, moving the cursor one position. In addition, in all layouts, the following keyboard shortcuts can be used to move through the text and edit it:

Any movement while pressing `? Shift` results in the appropriate selection.

To switch keyboard layouts, use the `?` `space` combination (on specialized iPad keyboards, a special key may be provided).

Russian layout (Cyrillic)

All characters present on digital keys in the Latin layout can be entered from the Russian layout by combining `?` with the desired number key.

A number of Latin characters are available from the Russian layout in the following alternative ways:

A number of special characters not found on the keyboard can be entered using the following keyboard shortcuts:

Table notes:

  • Em dash em-dash is used as the main one: when transmitting dialogues and syntactic separation of sentences - like this. En dash en-dash rarely used in Russian typography; its main purpose is to indicate numerical ranges (the war of 1939–1945) and to combine surnames (the Molotov–Ribbentrop pact).
  • Symbol dagger† in Russian typography is mainly used to indicate the year of death or the status of "died". However, its original purpose is unmarked footnotes (asterisks are used for this in Russian-language literature). Can be used in conjunction with double dagger(see below).
  • Russian typography requires the use of Christmas tree quotation marks. The use of "paws" is allowed in the situation of "quotes within quotes" and some exotic situations (for example, in fiction for a character's mental dialogue with himself).

Latin layout (Latin)

From this layout, you can get a number of characters that are useful in Russian texts.
