asp extension. Opening ASP Files

In ASP, you can call a JavaScript procedure in VBScript, and vice versa.

subroutine

ASP source code may contain subroutines and functions:

<%
sub vbproc(num1,num2)
response.write(num1*num2)
end sub
%>

result:<%call vbproc(3,4)%>

<% @ Языка = "язык" %> This line is written in the above tag , you can use another scripting language to write a subroutine or function:

<%@ language="javascript" %>

<%
function jsproc(num1,num2)
{
Response Write(num1*num2)
}
%>

result:<%jsproc(3,4)%>

Various VBScript and JavaScript,

When calling a VBScript or JavaScript procedure from an ASP file written in VBScript, you can use "call" keyword followed by the name of the procedure. If the procedure requires parameters when using the "call" keyword, the parameter must be enclosed in parentheses. If you omit the "call" keyword, the parameters must not be included in parentheses. If the procedure has no parameters, the parentheses are optional.

When calling a VBScript or JavaScript procedure from an ASP file written in JavaScript, you must use parentheses after the subroutine name.

Have a problem opening .asp files? We collect information about file formats and can explain what ASP files are. Additionally, we recommend programs that are most suitable for opening or converting such files.

What is the .ASP file format for?

File extension .asp stands for "Active Server Pages" and belongs to the "ASP Script" file type ( .asp). ASP is a web application server platform developed by Microsoft for its server technology on the Windows base IIS (Internet Information Services). ASP has evolved further, becoming the basis for ASP.NET. Unlike ASP, ASP.NET page files have the extension .asp x.

Although ASP is a Windows-based technology, ASP scripting pages can be hosted on the now standard Apache web server on other platforms, provided that additional modules are connected and customization server.

File .asp- it's normal text file A that contains HTML markup with VBScript or JScript code inserts, as well as possible references to COM/ActiveX objects. As with PHP, the ASP page must be processed by the server before the dynamically generated final HTML is served to the client. ASP scripts can be created and opened as source code in any text editor.

In the environment Apple Mac OSX extension .asp separately associated with apple app System Profiler (About Apple system, ASP), denoting the file type/format "ASP Report" ( .asp). This often causes Active Server Pages (ASP) files to not be properly handled on Apple computers and, as a rule, requires manually specifying the application to open the file through the "Open with ..." command.

Programs to open or convert ASP files

You can open ASP files with the following programs:

If your computer has antivirus program can scan all files on the computer, as well as each file individually. You can scan any file by right-clicking on the file and selecting the appropriate option to scan the file for viruses.

For example, in this figure, file my-file.asp, then you need to right-click on this file, and in the file menu select the option "scan with AVG". Selecting this option will open AVG Antivirus and perform a scan given file for the presence of viruses.

Sometimes an error can result from incorrect installation software, which may be due to a problem that occurred during the installation process. It may interfere with your operating system link your asp file to the correct application software tool , influencing the so-called "file extension associations".

Sometimes simple reinstallation Mozilla Firefox may solve your problem by properly linking ASP with Mozilla Firefox. In other cases, file association problems may result from bad software programming developer, and you may need to contact the developer for further assistance.

Advice: Try updating Mozilla Firefox to the latest version to make sure you have the latest fixes and updates.

This may seem too obvious, but often the ASP file itself may be causing the problem. If you received a file via an attachment Email or downloaded it from a website and the download process was interrupted (such as a power outage or other reason), the file may be corrupted. If possible, try to get a new copy ASP file and try to open it again.

Carefully: A corrupted file may cause collateral damage to a previous or existing malware on your PC, so it is very important that you have an up-to-date antivirus running on your computer at all times.

If your asp file associated with the hardware on your computer to open the file you may need update device drivers associated with this equipment.

This problem usually associated with media file types, which depend on the successful opening of the hardware inside the computer, for example, sound card or video cards. For example, if you are trying to open an audio file but cannot open it, you may need to update sound card drivers.

Advice: If when you try to open an ASP file you get .SYS file related error message, the problem could probably be associated with corrupted or outdated device drivers that need to be updated. This process can be alleviated by using driver update software such as DriverDoc.

If the steps didn't solve the problem and you are still having problems opening ASP files, this may be due to lack of available system resources . Some versions of ASP files may require a significant amount of resources (eg. memory/RAM, processing power) to open properly on your computer. This problem occurs quite often if you are using a fairly old computer. Hardware and at the same time a much newer operating system.

This problem can occur when the computer is having a hard time completing a task because the operating system (and other services that run on background) can consume too many resources to open asp file. Try closing all applications on your PC before opening the Active Server Page. By freeing up all available resources on your computer, you will ensure the best possible conditions for trying to open the ASP file.

If you completed all the above steps and your ASP file still won't open, you may need to run hardware upgrade. In most cases, even when using older hardware versions, the processing power can still be more than enough for most custom applications(unless you're doing a lot of CPU-intensive work like 3D rendering, financial/science modeling, or media-intensive work). In this way, it is likely that your computer does not have enough memory(more commonly referred to as "RAM", or RAM) to perform the file open task.

You can run ASP on your computer.

How to open .asp file?

Being unable to open files with .asp extension can have various origins. Importantly, all common problems associated with files with .asp extension, users can decide. The process is fast and does not require the participation of an IT specialist. Below is a list of recommendations to help you identify and resolve file-related issues.

Step 1Get a Web browser

Problems with opening and working with ASP files are most likely due to the lack of proper software that is compatible with ASP files on your computer. This one is lightweight. Choose a Web browser or one of the recommended programs (for example, Text editor , Adobe Fireworks , Microsoft Visual Studio) and download it from the appropriate source and install it on your system. Full list programs grouped by operating system can be found above. Most safe way Web browser is installed - to do this, go to the developer's website () and download software using the links provided.

Step 2: Check your Web browser version and update if necessary

If you have already installed web browser on your systems and ASP files still do not open properly, check if you have the latest version of the software. Software developers can implement support for more modern file formats in updated versions of their products. The reason that Web browser cannot handle files with ASP may be that the software is outdated. The latest version of the Web browser is backward compatible and can work with file formats supported by older versions of the software.

Step 3: Assign a Web Browser to ASP Files

If the issue has not been solved in the previous step, you should associate ASP files with latest web version browser installed on your device. The next step shouldn't be a problem. The procedure is simple and largely system independent

Windows

  • Clicking the right mouse button on the ASP will open a menu from which you must select the option To open with
  • Next, select an option Choose another application and then use More apps to open the list of available apps.
  • Finally select Find another app on this..., specify the folder where the Web browser is installed, check the box Always use this app to open ASP files your choice by clicking OK

Selecting the first choice app in MacOS

  • Clicking right button mouse on the selected ASP file, open the file menu and choose Information.
  • Open the Open With section by clicking its name
  • Select Web browser and click Edit for everyone...
  • A window should appear with a message that this change will be applied to all files with .asp extension. By pressing Forward you confirm your choice.

Step 4: Check ASP for Errors

If you followed the instructions form the previous steps yet the issue is still not solved, you should verify the ASP file in question. The lack of access to the file can be due to various problems.

1. ASP may be infected with malware - be sure to check it with an antivirus.

If the ASP is indeed infected, it is possible that malware is blocking it from opening. Scan the file immediately with an antivirus tool or go through the entire system to make sure the entire system is safe. .asp file is infected with malware? Follow the instructions of the antivirus software.

2. Make sure the ASP file structure is intact

If the ASP file was sent to you by someone else, ask that person to send you the file. While copying a file, errors can occur that make the file incomplete or corrupted. This may be the source of problems with the file. If .asp file was only partially downloaded from the Internet, try downloading it again.

3. Check if the logged in user has administrator rights.

Sometimes a user needs administrator rights to access files. Sign out of your current account and sign in account with sufficient access rights. Then open the Active Server Page.

4. Check if your system can handle Web browser

If the system is under heavy load, it may not be able to handle the program that you use to open files with .asp extension. In this case, close other applications.

5. Make sure you have the latest drivers, system updates and patches

Latest Versions programs and drivers can help you solve problems with Active Server Page files and ensure the security of your device and operating system. It is possible that one of the available system or driver updates may solve problems with ASP files affecting older versions of this software.
