Russian computer program analogue of Microsoft. Free programs for Windows free download

Now I am going to present to your attention various programs that can replace (if not completely, then partially) the popular Microsoft Office. Why do we need analogues? It's simple: let me remind you that one of the last existing versions this program costs about $ 140 (and this is only a stripped-down version of "Starter"). A professional package will cost all $400.

Naturally, the Pro version contains a lot of various improvements and updates that can help users work with documentation, however, it should be noted that most average users do not need to use all the power this application.

Moreover, all the functionality is used by units, from which the conclusion follows - there is no need to buy a full-fledged program. Moreover, for the simple reading of documents and their editing, quite a lot of different free apps, some of which can even compete with Microsoft Office.

"GoogleDocs"

This free analogue of Microsoft Office is the main competitor of Microsoft Corporation. It is also called GoogleDrive. The important thing is that this application from Google is as easy and convenient to use as other applications - Google search engine, GoogleTranslate for translation or Gmail. It is likely that GoogleDocs will soon become the new standard and will almost and completely oust Microsoft Office from the market, leaving the latter only for professionals who simply need all the highly specialized features of the program.

This service can be called the embodiment of all the powers of Google. In addition, it is really easy to use, different intuitive clear interface, thanks to which the work is significantly accelerated, and also has a set of functions sufficient for everyday use. However, this web application has unaccounted for subtleties of work, which is its main difference from a competitive product, which provides for almost everything. Also, do not forget about the periodic problems associated with opening existing documents.

Among the undoubted advantages - GoogleDocs is ideal for remote work, since the entire team of more than two people can work with one document almost immediately. This alone puts this product in the "out of competition" category, not to mention completely free access.

Microsoft Web Apps

The second name of this office product is SkyDrive, and it was developed already in order to compete with GoogleDocs. The indisputable advantage of the program is the maximum possible similarity with the software Microsoft software office.

At its core, SkyDrive is a copy of the usual Word, Excel, OneNote, PowerPoint, greatly reduced in functionality, but these functions may not be enough for completely comfortable work. There is an interface that is as close as possible to the original Microsoft applications, which greatly simplifies learning and work, plus the ability to integrate with Microsoft's web storage.

ZohoOffice

This program relatively recently enjoyed no less (if not more) popularity than GoogleDocs. But now users have almost completely forgotten about ZohoOffice. In fairness, it is worth noting that it has a fairly serious functionality, and this allows it to compete on equal terms with most serious office applications. Evaluate the power of the application yourself, simply by using any of the dozens of possible Zoho web services. In particular, pay attention to the ability to work with tables, edit text, and even create pretty good presentations.

Of course, the interface of this application does not resemble the well-known product from Microsoft, which at first can cause some difficulties. At the same time, ZohoOffice works stably and quickly, and also supports a significant number of additional features. You'll be able to work with a wide variety of popular formats, as well as gain access to an online repository that will allow you to collaborate on some documents.

Among the shortcomings, despite free access, some features can only be activated using a paid plan.

openoffice

This program is another free analogue of the office software package from Mircosoft Corporation. Here you can find text and spreadsheet processor s, a program for creating presentations, an editor of formulas, a special vector graphics editor and DBMS. Each of the applications is distinguished by the presence of a convenient standard interface, moreover, with their help you can easily process almost any electronic documents.

Soft Maker Free Office

This application is lightweight and has only a number of standard features, which greatly speeds up the opening of new documents and their processing. Supports work with all standard formats, and is also distinguished by simple installation, although it has a rather impressive list of additional features.

Completely free access, although there is a paid extended version, but there is not much point in using it - free and so suitable for most cases in life.

KingsoftOffice

This version is a Chinese clone Microsoft programs office. It completely repeats its entire interface and supports most of the functions. At the same time, the first version of this program was imperfect, worked slowly and inefficiently, but then it was improved and as a result, users received a fairly high-quality office software package.

Note that some of the specific features of the Microsoft Office package have not been transferred to KingsoftOffice, but this does not affect its normal use in any way. Many users at the same time assure that, compared to a paid product from Microsoft, KingsoftOffice is one of the best free alternatives.

libreoffice

This package is a more functionally advanced OpenOffice. There are properties of open resources, there is a completely free distribution and a large number of useful features.

At the same time, this program is a working complex, which includes an editor for tables and texts, plus special programs for editing finished drawings or creating presentations.

Among the advantages - technically advanced functionality that can compete with Microsoft Office, and completely free. The disadvantage is that the program is just as cumbersome and “heavy” as its paid competitor, containing a sufficiently large number of functions that the average user is unlikely to need.

Conclusion

If you want to pick up free office programs that resemble Microsoft Office, you may encounter large quantity a variety of programs, different in their capabilities and functionality, but consistently performing the main functions - to enable reading and editing electronic documents in popular formats.

It is important to remember that copying all professional Microsoft features Office has not yet been able to any of the free programs listed. However, they are necessary only for professionals who do not mind paying the specified money to purchase their main working tool. So, if your needs are fully met by any of the free programs, then there is no point in buying a professional package.

Five free analogues text editor Microsoft Word.

MS Word is deservedly the most popular text editor in the world. This program finds its application in many areas and will be equally good for home, professional and educational use. Word is just one of the programs included in the Microsoft Office package, which, as you know, is distributed by subscription with an annual or monthly payment.

Actually, it is the cost of a subscription to Word that makes many users look for analogues of this text editor. And there are quite a few of them today, and some of them are not inferior in their capabilities to a full-featured editor from Microsoft. Below we will consider the most worthy alternatives to Word.

Note: The order in which the programs are described in the text should not be regarded as a rating from worst to best, nor from best to worst, it is simply a list of worthy products with a consideration of their main characteristics.

This is a cross-platform office suite, one of the most popular in the free segment. The product includes approximately the same programs as in the Microsoft Office package, even a little more. This text editor, spreadsheet, presentation tool, management system databases, graphics editor, editor of mathematical formulas.

The functionality of OpenOffice is more than enough for comfortable work. As for the word processor itself, called Writer, it allows you to create and edit documents, change their design and formatting. As in Word, insertion is supported here. graphic files and other objects, you can create tables, graphs and much more. All this, as expected, is packaged in a simple and understandable, conveniently implemented interface. It is important to note the fact that the program is compatible with Word documents.

Another free and cross-platform office editor with a wide range of features for work. Like Open Office Writer, this office suite is well compatible with Microsoft Word formats, according to some users, even to a slightly greater extent. If you believe them, this program also works noticeably faster. The analogues of all the components included in the Microsoft Office package are also of interest here, but we are only interested in one of them.

LibreOffice Writer - this is a word processor, which, as expected similar program, supports all the functions and features necessary for comfortable working with text. Here you can set text styles, perform its formatting. It is possible to add images to the document, create and insert tables, columns. Present automatic check spelling and more.

Here is another office suite, which, like the above analogues, is a free and quite worthy alternative to Microsoft Office. By the way, the interface of the program is in many ways similar to that in the brainchild of Microsoft, however, if you do not take into account latest versions programs. If appearance something does not suit you, you can always change it for yourself.

The Office Writer word processor supports Word document formats, provides the ability to export documents to PDF, and can download file templates from the Internet. As expected, the capabilities of this editor are not limited to writing and formatting text. Writer supports the insertion of pictures, the creation of tables, mathematical formulas and much more is available, without which today it is impossible to imagine comfortable work with text documents.

And again the office suite, and again quite a worthy analogue of the brainchild of Microsoft. The product includes an application for creating presentations and a word processor, which we will consider. It is noteworthy that the program for working with text is well adapted to touch screens, has quite an attractive GUI and a number of other advantages.

In Galligra Gemini, as in all of the above programs, you can insert images and mathematical formulas. There are tools for marking pages, standard Word DOC and DOCX formats are supported. The office suite works quite quickly and stably, without loading the system. True, on Windows, slight slowdowns are sometimes observed.

Office suite from the world famous search giant, which, unlike all of the above programs, does not have a desktop version. Documents from Google are designed exclusively for working online, in a browser window. This approach is both an advantage and a disadvantage. In addition to the word processor, the package includes tools for creating spreadsheets and presentations. All you need to get started is a Google account.

Everything software services from the Google Docs package are part of cloud storage Google Drive, in whose environment the work takes place. Created documents are saved in real time, constantly synchronizing. All of them are in the cloud, and projects can be accessed from any device - through an application or a web browser.

This product is focused on collaborative work with documents, for which there are all the necessary features. Users can share files, leave comments and notes, edit. If we talk directly about the means for working with text, there are more than enough of them for most users.

So we have reviewed the five most relevant and functionally equal analogues of Microsoft Word. Which one to choose is up to you. Recall that all the products discussed in this article are free.

IBM Lotus Symphony beta 4

Developer: IBM Corporation
Installer size: 200 Mb
Program website: www.ibm.com
License: Freeware

... And the time when most of the audience preferred Microsoft Office, IBM developers took it and released their "Office". The project began its development quite recently, in 2007. True, at first it was a semi-independent product, since Lotus Symphony was originally based on OpenOffice. Recently, the program code of the package has been completely rewritten, and today IBM Lotus Symphony is a completely independent development. It has nothing in common with OpenOffice except that it is free.

The package includes three components:

  • Lotus Symphony Documents - word processor,
  • Lotus Symphony Spreadsheets - spreadsheet processor,
  • Lotus Symphony Presentations is a program for creating presentations.

Unlike MS Office and other "Offices", Lotus is a single environment for editing documents various types. Applications open in one window, in several tabs. This fundamental approach makes Lotus look like a browser. Thanks to the so-called Multiple Document Interface (MDI), greater application integration is achieved. When editing several documents at the same time, it is convenient to copy tables, images, and other types of data from one window to another. If open windows too much, you can use the preview (as in Opera - using thumbnails).

IBM Lotus Symphony beta 4 toolbar

The interface is, without a doubt, convenient. The developers managed to minimize the upper tool area and expand the work area. Comparison with Microsoft Office 2007 is not very appropriate here, since this "Office" has a number of visual features. Basic formatting is available via top panel, additional - through the sidebar (sidebar). Menu bars do not take up much space and contain only the most important options.

The word processor and Symphony Spreadsheets did not cause any complaints, except that the font smoothing was not performed on such high level like in Microsoft Office. As for Lotus Symphony Presentations, we felt that the functionality of this application is overly simple. The number of multimedia blanks, templates leaves much to be desired.

Regarding the format of documents, popular file types are supported, including MS Office (except for docx - the format is not supported yet). When you save a document in a non-native extension for Lotus, the program issues a warning: formatting may be lost. As practice has shown, compatibility does not cause concern. You can safely save the document in doc for later opening it in other applications.

One caveat: if you open a document saved by Lotus in Microsoft Office, you can notice some changes in graphics and images. The text content remains unchanged.

All in all, IBM Lotus Symphony is a complete product that can be used as an alternative to Microsoft Office. The current version is "beta" - but Lotus Symphony is stable. During testing, the package never gave an error, only once when opening a tab, the application “hung”. We also noticed some slowness when expanding the menu and checking spelling.

Open Office 2.3

Developer: OpenOffice.org 2.3
Installer size: 110 MB
Program website: www.openoffice.org
License: Freeware

OpenOffice is perhaps the main alternative to Microsoft Office. Moreover, the main difference from the alternative "Offices" is that here we are dealing with a multi-platform product. Initially, OO worked (and works) on the Linux platform, six months ago a preliminary version for MacOS appeared. We are considering a version ported to Windows.

OpenOffice includes the following components:

  • Writer - word processor,
  • Calc - spreadsheet editor,
  • Draw - creation and image editing,
  • Impress - presentation software
  • Base - work with databases,
  • Math - formula editor.

The program interface has a perceptible resemblance to the early Microsoft versions Office (97–2003). Although the buttons are on the panel, the dialog boxes are built in a special way. And, for example, in the settings dialog, there are more options grouped than in MS Office.

OpenOffice word processor settings

Another difference from MS Office: when creating a document in the menu of any OO application, you can choose the type of the created one: a table, a Writer document, or others, and not just a format. In this regard, communication with related components is well organized.

Inserting tables, graphs, formulas and other information is organized at a high level. Even if there are more funds for these purposes in MO, everything is more concise here. It is convenient to work with tables in Calc due to the fact that the document area is not cluttered with unnecessary panels and menus. Calc has a task pane (Write doesn't). The names of the formulas are unified: both in the Russian version and in the English one, they are spelled the same. This has its advantages over MS Excel.

On the subject of performance: OO is faster than Microsoft Office itself. The package is stable, does not “freeze”, does not “think about” when typing or checking spelling. Thanks to the Quickstarter widget, starting OpenOffice takes a lot of time (this is achieved by storing libraries in RAM).

It is possible to connect plugins. Of the standard additions, we mention a media player and a gallery. If the need for the first is in question, then the gallery is a useful thing. From standard images, you can quickly find and insert a suitable picture.

In the Russian version of OpenOffice, there is support for Russian spelling, there is an auto-completion function for words - this greatly speeds up typing. Help has been completely translated. By default, Writer saves documents in its native odt format, but it did not do without support for the doc format. As with Lotus Office, it is possible to export data to PDF. Other formats include SDW (StarOffice), RTF (Microsoft), XML, HTML and others.

Creating and editing documents in OO is very, very convenient. For people with ambiguous opinions about ported products, all doubts should disappear. The multiplatform nature of OpenOffice is only a plus, because we can edit the same document in almost the same program, but on different operating systems, be it Linux, MacOS or Windows.

Ashampoo Office 2008

Developer: SoftMaker Software GmbH
Installer size: 15 - 30 Mb
Program website: www.ashampoo.com
License: shareware

Ashampoo produces not only beautiful, but at the same time high-quality, compact programs that may well serve as an alternative to the Microsoft Office package. In some fifty megabytes, the developers managed to fit a word processor, spreadsheet and presentation editor. The applications are named TextMaker, PlanMaker and Presentations, respectively.

Of course, Ashampoo Office does not flaunt colorful templates, diagrams, a collection of clipart, but let's give credit to the developers: they managed to recreate the Microsoft Office environment. The toolbar is unremarkable compared to, say, Microsoft Office, and at the same time it covers the most necessary tools. There are 7 panels in total, including a handy review panel. They are activated through the context menu. The program has a good installation wizard, integrates with context menu. On the toolbar there are buttons for “hot” transition to other Ashampoo programs office.

Compatibility with doc-format documents did not cause any complaints - the structure of the document is recreated without changes.

Regarding Russification: unfortunately, Russification was not initially included in the program and, consequently, there is no Russian spell-checker. All dictionaries are stored as modules. It is assumed that the Russian module can be found on the web.

In terms of speed, of the programs reviewed today (plus Microsoft Office), AO is the leader of the review. It can be used not only as an office application, but also as a replacement for Notepad - and a replacement of very high quality.

“Offices” online

Today, developers of alternatives to microsoft office are moving in the direction of creating two types of applications - desktop and online. Main plus web applications in that they are independent of the user's preferred platform. It doesn't really matter what operating system you are, all you need is Internet access and a browser. New documents are saved directly to the online service, so there is no danger of accidentally deleting them. Therefore, you do not need to transfer data on a hard drive. Therefore, if you have high-speed Internet at your disposal, you can think about using one of the two online editors. This is, at a minimum, Microsoft Office Live and Google Docs. Today we will try to compare them.

Google Docs

Google's alternative word processor is a popular online alternative to Office 365 2010. Although it can't compete with Microsoft Word in terms of functionality, we must not forget that this is an online application. Such a solution is intended for people who are not too puzzled by the installation of applications and not too demanding in terms of functionality. Why look for something else, if there is free service for quick and efficient editing of documents of various formats?

The first feature of Google Docs is that you do not need to fill out any forms during registration. It is enough to indicate your e-mail and your initials.

The interface is based on the Ajax web technology. This means that all changes are displayed without reloading the page. The loading speed of the Docs workspace was a pleasant surprise: javascript does not load the computer's processor by 100%, as is usually the case in such cases. The interface is quite “modest” and not overloaded. Unfortunately, while the service is available on English language(However, users who are accustomed to working in English-language programs will quickly get used to it). Accordingly, checking Russian spelling is not expected.

Dialogues, formatting tools - in Google Docs they are implemented as in a regular desktop application (see screenshots).

Old google version Docs couldn't be an alternative to MS Office

Word Processor Toolbar from Google Docs

Pictures are included. But since the file size is very limited to 500 KB, the use of text with makes you think about the final file size. However, this is quite enough for solid text, and the Internet speed must be good to wait for this file.

All documents are stored on the server. An autosave system is provided, and with the corresponding button on the panel, the document can be saved at any time on its own. By the way, using special utility Documents List Uploader can be downloaded quickly necessary files to the server.

In terms of editing capabilities, Google Docs does not differ from any developed WYSIWYG editor, the changes concern only the possibilities of saving and importing documents. The following popular formats are available for import: RTF, DOC, TXT, HTML, for export - Word, RTF, OpenOffice, HTML and PDF.

Briefly about the rest of the features: Google Docs supports tags ( keywords), RSS-feeds (for notification of changes), a system of changes is thought out. Very convenient possibility - to send the received file to e-mail. In conjunction with Gmail, this is very convenient.

Microsoft Office Live Workspace

As in response to discovery Google online service, Microsoft introduced its alternative version"Office". On the Windows Live Workspace resource, in addition to the photo gallery, search, tools for publishing the site, the ability to edit text is provided.

The account registration process takes noticeably longer than with Google. After that, you will be given an ID number that you need to confirm. Only then the panel becomes open for access.

A year ago, the project existed in beta status. At that time, the interface called was excessively “heavy”. On the this moment on the contrary, it has changed towards conciseness. Unfortunately, this did not affect the loading speed of the “Office” too much. The Internet connection must be fast and stable, otherwise Office Live will not bring any results.

The resource is loaded only in Internet Explorer. Even at the stage of registration in other browsers, the page ... disappears. It's probably better than having to settle for bugs in an alternative browser later on, but still - what about compatibility?

Long talk about Office functionality Live is not needed: the functions are partially duplicated with the desktop version of Office 2007.

Communication between these platforms is carried out at a high level. Plus, we can note the integration with Microsoft Outlook and all sorts of online services like Live Mail, Live Search. Of the types of documents available for import / export, we note the Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint formats.

Conclusion

Of course, each of the considered alternative office suites will find its user. For a Russian-speaking audience, from desktop applications, we can recommend OpenOffice as the most functional Russified package. Office suite without spell checker (example - Ashampoo Office 2008) - not the best way. As for IBM Lotus Symphony: you need to wait until the final version is released, where all errors will be fixed, a spell checker will be added, and Russian-language help will appear.

Of the two online applications reviewed, Google Docs is most adapted to our Internet realities. This "Office" does not require a high connection speed (even dial-up will do), is open for registration and does not raise questions.

1. Google Docs is an online word processor. It cannot compete with MS Word in terms of the number of features and features, but it is available from any computer connected to the Internet. Google Docs is used by General Electric. By the way, I have been using Google Docs as my main word processor for three weeks now, despite the fact that I have to type texts with different computers no (working tool - laptop). It's just that Google Docs is free, and its functionality suits me personally. :)

2. Zoho Writer is another online word processor. It has a pretty good interface and some extra features (compared to Google Docs). WWD think it's worth a try.

3. ajaxWrite - its distinguishing feature is that you do not need to register on the site to get started.

4. - open source cross-platform word processor source code. Its advantage is fast start(when compared with MS Office and OpenOffice).

5. DarkRoom is a ported version of WriteRoom (a text editor for Mac). DarkRoom requires .NET installed on the system.

6. JDarkRoom is another WriteRoom alternative, cross platform application. Works on JAVA, distributed free of charge.

7. Writer - again we mention WriteRoom, only this is an online option.

8. Writer.app is a word processor for Mac. Flexibly customizable, many possibilities.

9. TextEdit - a text almost-processor that comes with Mac OS X. Can read and create documents of various formats, incl. DOC, RTF, HTML.

10. RoughDraft is a free word processor (Windows) that is said to be specially made for writers. So if you are writing a new novel, check out this program, maybe you will like it.

On my own, I want to add that under Windows I worked in OpenOffice.org, and under Mac I really like TextEdit. In rare cases where complex formatting is required, I use NeoOffice (it's the same OpenOffice.org, but with a Cocoa interface). And what do you use?
