From time to time, you need to defragment the disk. When you install and then uninstall various programs, then it always leaves traces in the form of clogged clusters, so when you install new programs, they occupy clusters scattered, i.e. those that are free at the moment. Due to the fact that these applications are not located in the same place, but are recorded in different areas, the execution of many processes is slower than it should be.

Now uncheck "Automatically select paging file size", check "Specify size" opposite and enter in the "Initial size" field the value of the installed RAM multiplied by two (example: you have 2GB of RAM * 2 = 2048 / 1GB = 1024MB).

In field " Maximum size» you need to enter the same values, the paging file will be fixed, not dynamic. After that, restart your computer.

IMPORTANT: The size of the paging file is subtracted from the size of the hard disk, pay attention to the line "Selected drive C → free: ***". If the system has more than 8GB of RAM installed, the paging file can be disabled.

If the problem is with only one application, and the rest continue to work fine, you should try increasing its system priority. To do this, call the "Task Manager" (Ctrl + Shift + Esc), right-click on the slowing application and select "Details".
