Lumia 610 is the first smartphone in Russia with Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh. Processor, screen, functionality - everything, like everyone else. Nevertheless, Nokia tried to bring something of its own. Nokia Music services with the possibility of listening to music for free over the Internet, Nokia Maps - with free navigation and maps around the world, as well as a stylish design have become these “friends”. But first things first.

Design, construction

Nokia 610, despite its cost, is simply not a medium or a budget option. The device has an interesting and moderately modest look, which is compensated by the abundance of body colors from classic black and white to blue and red (in our case, a black version was presented).

The materials of the body are solid: it is a glossy plastic on the front and a plastic with a velvety coating (soft touch) on the back (In white and blue versions, the back cover is glossy). The ends of the phone are chrome-plated, this is not metal, but only a coating, but it looks good. In the hands of the device is very comfortable. The edges of the case have rounded edges. The velvety back surface prevents the smartphone from slipping out, in addition, it does not leave traces of use.

In general, my impressions of the appearance of the Lumia 610 were purely positive.

What else is in this communicator? On the front of the phone you can see the speaker for voice calls. Nearby is a position sensor in space (G-sensor), digital compass, proximity sensor, light sensor. front camera No, therefore, there is no video calling feature.

Most of the front face of the smartphone is occupied by a 3.7-inch touch screen. It gets dirty pretty quickly.

Under the screen are three touch control buttons: "Back", "Windows" ("Home") and "Search".

The volume rocker is located on the right side face. A little lower there is an on / off button and a screen lock, and even lower is a camera key. The connector for connecting the interface cable and the microUSB charger is located on the top end. Here you can also find a hole for connecting a 3.5 mm headset and a strap mount.

There are no controls on the left. And on the bottom end there is a microphone.

On the back of the Lumia 610 there is a speaker for external calls (at the bottom). The built-in speaker has good performance in terms of volume reserve. In most cases, sounds and ringtones are well audible. It is impossible to miss them even in a noisy room.

At the top, you can see a 5 megapixel camera lens with autofocus and LED flash that can be used as a flashlight.

The back cover is removed quite easily, just slide it down. Behind the cover is a battery and a micro-SIM slot. There is no slot for memory cards, only built-in memory.

I didn't have any issues with build quality. Everything is done well. "Lumiya" does not crunch when compressed, the lid does not play and does not bend. The model is assembled at the company's factory in China.

Graphic features

The Nokia Lumia 610 uses touch TFT screen 3.7 inches, made by capacitive technology. However, unlike more expensive counterparts, the smartphone's display does not have a ClearBlack polarization layer, due to which the screen looks a little worse in the light.

The display resolution is 480x800, it displays 262 thousand colors. Thanks to the G-sensor (accelerometer), the screen can automatically change its orientation. The display is protected by durable Gorilla Glass. As practice shows, it successfully prevents scratches during the operation of the smartphone.

The screen has good color reproduction, brightness, contrast. The brightness of the backlight is adjusted automatically, but at the same time there is a manual setting. In the sun, the display fades, but all the information is well read.

The operation of the touch screen does not raise any complaints, the screen perfectly recognizes even light touches. As noted earlier, the picture changes its position depending on the location: vertical or horizontal. But this does not happen in all programs and applications.

Keyboard and input

Nokia 610 has three touch buttons "Back", "Windows" and "Search". Management is carried out through touch screen. In this case, you will not find keys for receiving and rejecting a call. Thus, you can only accept or reject a call using the touch screen. It is implemented quite simply.

Typing is carried out using the on-screen QWERTY keyboard. It is quite comfortable even portrait orientation display - and all this is the merit of a large display. In landscape orientation, the size of the buttons increases by about 45%.

In general, you can enter text in several ways: using a QWERTY keyboard in a horizontal or vertical layout. To dial a special character, just press the "&123" button. To switch the layout from English to Russian, there is a dedicated "ENU" or "RU" key to the right of the space. In landscape orientation unknown reasons left and right there is an empty space of 5 mm on each side. Couldn't it also be used under the keyboard, for example, by increasing the size of the virtual buttons?

Interface and navigation. Functionality

Nokia Lumia 610 is running the latest version of the operating system Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh. In terms of functionality, the Lumia 610 is a complete clone of the Lumia 710. By and large, the only difference is the hardware platform.

The Lumia 610 desktop is presented as a scrollable vertical column of squares and rectangles, the so-called "hubs", where each of them can carry one of the many functions. It can be either a shortcut to a specific application, or a link to a person from a contact list, to a photo, to a web page or service. The squares can be combined, and for some pre-installed applications (such as photo galleries) this is a great solution. By the way, because of this, the interface of the operating system was nicknamed "tiled".

To the desktop as a square, you can send separate page. If you like, say, reading news from Yandex or Vedomosti, then you can go directly to the last page you read by clicking on its shortcut on the desktop without launching your browser and without digging up a journal entry. Alas, the user does not have the ability to change and decorate the desktop with various pictures. The background here is purely black or white! You can only change the color of the design and that's it.

At first, I was surprised by the absence of indicators at the top of the screen showing signal strength, battery status, and similar system notifications. But after some digging, I found them. To display, just click on upper part screen and everything, they will appear automatically.

If you try to swipe the screen from right to left with your finger or click on the arrow at the top of the display, a list will open installed programs. They are not divided into directories, but are displayed alphabetically en masse. To add them to main screen just hold your finger on the corresponding icon for 3-4 seconds - it will appear context menu with a choice of actions.

The general style of switching between applications is reminiscent of turning pages, and all this happens almost instantly. The speed of the interfaces is high, and the effects are quite appropriate, but you need to hook the audience with something.

In Windows Phone 7.5, the developers tried to take into account the comments and changed the views of programs running in the background. So, holding down the "Back" button you can access the list running applications. If they support the multitasking function, then when you click on the thumbnail, the program will start in the same form in which you exited it. While this way you can not work with all applications. Only built-in applications work confidently with multitasking mode: Notebook, player, gallery and some others. Third-party programs, for the most part, simply restart.

For three weeks of active operation, Nokia 610 has never failed or hung. The device is stable. However, not all programs and services can be run on this phone. There are limitations, which will be discussed in the "Performance and Memory" section.

Phone features

First of all, these include "Phone", "Contacts", "Messages".

Hub "Contacts" is a data with detailed information about phone numbers and subscribers. A record can have two dozen fields, whether it is a last name, first name, patronymic, mobile number, home phone, the address Email, date of birth or anniversary, Accounts social networks, microblogging services, etc. The search in contacts occurs immediately in all fields of the client, that is, you can dial a number, first name, last name, etc.

Another feature of the platform is the close integration of the Messages hub with social services. All correspondence with a specific person is displayed as a dialogue. In this case, it does not matter how the next message is sent or received - via SMS or chat on Twitter, Facebook, etc.

Dialing a number can be pulled out to the screen of squares, or you can use the “Phone” hub for this. The use of call services is intuitive and clear. From experience, I really didn’t like it when you need to make two movements to answer a call, and not one: the first is to unlock the screen, and the second is to answer directly.

Internet and Microsoft services

The standard delivery includes Internet browser Explorer 9 with HTML5, Canvas support and hardware acceleration as in desktop version Internet browser. True, Flash is not supported, and there are no such plans yet. The browser works quickly and without glitches. Of the features: the address bar is located at the bottom of the screen and it is much more convenient to get to it if you work with the device with one hand. But there is no support for Flash here. IE browser loads pages very quickly, supports modern algorithms work that a progressive browser is supposed to do.

Access to Microsoft online services (music, games, office, mail, etc.) is carried out with Live ID. At the same time, with a Russian account, as it turned out, you can’t use everything that is in the Marketplace store. Only applications for Russia and the CIS are available. In particular, there is no official Twitter client. Rather, it is, but not available in our region. And with the American Live ID, everything works and is located. One can only guess about the reasons for such discrimination.

Windows Phone 7.5 Refresh offers a range of cloud-based features. The OS has a new office Office package 2010, but don't expect much from it. For example, you can't change fonts in Word, you can't create PPTs, and so on. Quite surprising to see new version such a powerful package weak functionality. But at the same time, there is support for the main programs (Word, Excel) out of the box, you can create and edit documents right on your phone, without the need to install a paid package.

Multimedia features

Nokia is positioning Lumia 610 as a smartphone with rich multimedia capabilities. Among other things, the manufacturer focuses on high quality sound. In headphones, the device really sounds very, very worthy. The device can be used as good player. True, it is better to replace the native headset with something more decent.

There is a separate hub for playing music and video. It is built on the famous Microsoft Zune service. The media manager is quite cumbersome and requires you to install itself to sync to your computer (much like iTunes).

From unique programs It is worth noting the Nokia Music hub. He knows how to play the music already on the phone, as well as show announcements of upcoming concerts of various artists and bands. True, this feature does not work in Russia, which is a pity.

You can also access the music store and free music streaming service on the Mix Radio Network using your Nokia Store account. Mix Radio has pre-made playlists from six genres. The feature of the service is that these playlists can be downloaded for local listening. All this looks clearly more advanced than other manufacturers. Here Nokia has definitely succeeded.

Installing new programs

New programs and other applications can be downloaded for free and installed from the Marketplace over the Internet directly from your phone. There are now over 50,000 apps in the Marketplace. The appearance of the program is intuitive, there is a search for applications by category. They, in turn, are divided into "Programs" and "Games". Within each of the sections there is also a division into categories. Most of their Marketplace software is paid, and the cost for similar software is 2-3 times higher than for Android, Symbian or iOS.

Of course, after some time the situation should improve, especially since the Microsoft website has free access to tools for developing applications for this operating system. There are few free programs. It remains only to wait.

Photographic opportunities

The Nokia 610 has a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with LED flash that can also be used as a flashlight. The interface for working with the camera is ascetic, simple and intuitive, there is standard list settings. The maximum resolution of photos taken from the camera is 2592x1944.

It is worth noting that the smartphone camera allows you to get high-quality pictures in natural lighting conditions. But when you need to take a photo in limited light conditions, using a flash leads to overexposing the frame, and not using it significantly reduces sharpness.

The device can record video in H.263/MPEG4 format with a resolution of 640x480, 320x240 at 30 frames per second. Videos are of good quality, moving objects are not smeared. Lumia 610 supports formats and codecs: 3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .wmv, .avi (MP4 ASP and MP3), .xvid (MP4 ASP and MP3).

Navigation and maps

The Nokia 610 has two map applications installed at once: Nokia Maps and Nokia Drive. The first application is intended mainly for viewing the map on foot, the second is for navigating in the car. It should be noted that there are detailed maps more Russian cities, there is no need to talk about Europe - they are there in full, similarly in other countries.

When you run the program for some time, the information is loaded from base stations operator and GPS satellites about the location, current time, and maps are loaded. After receiving the coordinates, you can determine where you are at the moment. In the program menu there is a search for objects by textual information, address, geographic location, history, contacts stored in the phone. All objects on the map are displayed with the corresponding icon. It is possible to display street names and other information in Latin. There is support for searching in Cyrillic.

The user can choose a map display option - 2D or 3D image, day or night mode. In addition, a "satellite view" display option has been added, it is similar to what we see in Bing maps.

When navigating, large bold arrows display a pre-designated route. Of the pleasant features, you can find information about the weather, the situation on nearby roads, etc.

In general, navigation using Nokia maps is similar to other similar services, only here maps can be used offline.

Speed ​​and memory

Nokia Lumia 610 has a first-generation Qualcomm processor (MSM7227A) with a frequency of 800 MHz (versus 1.4 GHz in older devices) and 256 MB of RAM. And if the first point does not greatly affect the speed of the OS, performing various actions, then big surprises await us with memory.

The fact is that with this amount of RAM on smartphones, some programs will not run, in particular, Skype, heavy games like NFS. When you try to download them from the Marketplace, the OS reports that the program requires more RAM than is available on your phone.

Installed "hardware" allows the communicator to work without a hitch. The speed of the interfaces, as well as the loading of programs and utilities, fully meet the requirements of the time. Everything works fast enough and without brakes, and special design effects enhance the impression.

8 GB allocated for data storage internal memory. Of these, about 5.5 GB is available to the user. You cannot expand this amount of memory using cards. However, each Windows owner phone smartphone instead of a memory card slot, a 25 GB virtual flash drive is offered in the SkyDrive service. The disadvantage of such an offer is that you will not receive information without access to the Internet.

Communication options

You can connect to another computer or the Internet via Wi-Fi or an interface USB cable(version 2.0).

Nokia Lumia 610 supports wireless accessories and Bluetooth headsets 2.1 c EDR and A2DP, including wireless stereo headsets. Alas, you cannot transfer files from phone to phone via Bluetooth.

In addition to supporting packet data transfer using GPRS and EDGE technologies, the smartphone supports 3G. The machine can be used as a modem. The data transfer rate in this case will be up to 14.4 Mbps for data reception.

You can access the Internet from your smartphone via Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n, and also turn the device into a point WiFi access. In addition, there is a built-in GPS / A-GPS and a navigation service with online maps.

Working time

The Nokia 610 has a 1300mAh BP-3L lithium-ion battery. According to the manufacturer, the device talk time is up to 7.5 hours; standby time up to 12 days.

Under test conditions, with the number of calls 20 - 30 minutes a day, listening to an mp3 player through a headset for about 4 hours a day and periodically accessing the Internet via Wi-Fi, the device worked for 1.5 days. These are good performance indicators, however, with a smaller load, you can achieve more time. With very active use, the smartphone will have to be charged at the end of each day. The battery is charged in two hours.

Results

Nokia Lumia 610 turned out to be extremely strange. It is, of course, cute, functional, but weak hardware and RAM do not allow you to work with all programs and services under WP. Because of this, you will not be able to use Skype and heavy games. This is a big minus!

Another unpleasant moment - in the Marketplace store, programs and content are more expensive than in the AppStore or Android Market. But all this is a matter of time: the more users Windows Phone will have, the lower the price of final products for them will be.

Along with this, the smartphone has a stable operating system with a nice user interface. The device is qualitatively assembled and has its own design and appearance.

The price of Nokia Lumia 610 is 8,990 rubles, which, considering all the nuances considered, seems too high. The fact is that only 500 rubles more expensive is the Lumia 710, which is devoid of all the limitations associated with a lack of RAM. It's better to buy it, not 610.
