As befits a flagship, the smartphone has collected all the best and newest that is only available on the phone market. For example, while playing, I did not notice a single slowdown or glitch, and this game causes difficulties even for the most productive smartphones, for example, the game on the previous flagship often lags me.

Appearance is always a subject of controversy, but I, as I have repeatedly said, really like the style and design of LG, and even more so in Optimus G. In total, there are three touch and three analog buttons on the case. Touch, traditionally, is “return”, “home” and “menu”, and from analog – the volume and the on / off button. Everything is simple and nothing more.

I really liked the indicator of messages from which we have long weaned, because. manufacturers stubbornly do not want to use it. During charging, it glows with a red, smoothly fading light, and if you suddenly receive a message, you will be informed by the green color of the indicator. Convenient and practical, no need to peer and turn on the phone in vain to find out if a message has arrived or if a call has been missed.

As is often the case with LG, there are two color varieties of Optimus G - black and white, I got a sample in with a black case.

The only thing that I didn’t like is that the camera protrudes half a millimeter in relation to the body, so the phone does not lie flat on a flat surface with the back side, naturally in this case it is impossible to type text on a phone that is lying on the table, due to the fact that it moves, and there is also a high probability that you will quickly scratch the phone at the points of contact. It is not clear why this had to be done.

Eco Mode, which we never expected from LG on . Actually, in this mode, the phone consumes less energy due to the optimization of the dynamic control of the processor, or rather, the processor cores. This option can be enabled directly from the menu quick settings, well, or through the main menu, you need to check the box “Quad Core Management”:

The next feature is Miracast, this is when you can connect to a TV via Wi-Fi, and the same thing will be displayed on the TV as on the phone. It is very convenient if you like to play, in this case your phone turns into a real console itself, because. the TV plays not only video but also sound, while you are not fettered by wires, as is the case with a game console. The only problem is that this function requires a special monitor (or TV) from LG that can work in Miracast mode.

Another feature from LG that they have been actively promoting lately is QSlide. Actually, this is the ability to display several windows at the same time on the phone screen, Samsung has something similar, but I have never used it.

Well, the most convenient screensaver from LG is QuickMemo, with the help of which I just took screenshots. All you need to call QuickMemo is to simultaneously hold down two volume buttons.

The camera in the phone is 13 megapixels. But in fact, it doesn’t matter how many megapixels, and we already wrote about this. Battery consumption is often one of the most important factors in choosing a new smartphone. The LG Optimus G is equipped with a 2100 mAh battery, the same as the one on the . LG Optimus G is a great phone and a worthy flagship for LG, so if you are happy with the price, I recommend buying it. If you want to save a little at the expense of memory and power, then it is better to take the equally good LG Nexus 4.

If we compare the device with competitors, and in particular with Samsung and Sony, then the price of LG looks very attractive, with almost the same technical stuffing, LG will cost less, while it is no worse.

The senior device of the L-series of LG smartphones entered the market as the latest, almost under the Christmas tree. At the same time, it inherits all the characteristic features of the series: both the angular design and the economical approach to creating models of the L-line. While the price of this model is melting before our eyes, let's see how it is worthy of attention and wallets.

Specifications

Like other representatives of the L-series, the Optimus L9 smartphone does not carry a technical revolution and is moderately equipped for its category. At the same time, unlike its younger brothers, it is the only one with sufficiently high performance and a screen with an acceptable pixel density (234 ppi). However, the position of the senior in the line obliges. The LG Optimus L9 is powered by a TI OMAP 4430 dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM. The same combination, let me remind you, we met, for example, in Panasonic Eluga DL1. Only the latter worked under Android control 2.3 and showed poor performance for a smartphone with a dual-core processor. Optimus L9, like the rest of the line, came out immediately with Android 4.0 on board. To its performance, I repeat, there are no complaints.

The rest of the Optimus L9 is equipped typical for a mid-range smartphone: a five-megapixel camera, a screen with a resolution of 540x960 pixels, 4 GB of internal memory, a moderately capacious battery (2150 mAh).

Appearance

All LG models belonging to the L-series are like two drops of water similar to each other. Optimus L9 is no exception. The case is a strict rectangle with a silver border. The back cover is made of ordinary textured plastic, like the younger models. The "Home" key is hardware. True, due to the screen size - 4.7 inches - the smartphone is more associated not with younger models, but with LG Optimus 4X HD. Intuitively, I liked the Optimus L9 more than the 4X HD, and I never fully understood why. He also seemed more comfortable in work, despite the lower screen resolution. Perhaps the reason for this is the hardware “Home” key (with the touch of the 4X HD, I constantly had problems due to accidental clicks), and possibly a different location of the screen lock button. Still, in a device with a 4.7-inch diagonal, placing it on the side seems more convenient than on the top edge - try to reach out and unlock the phone with one hand.

And it is also possible that the novelty is 8 grams lighter and visually seems thinner (although it is not). For some reason it just looks better.

While the presence of a hardware home button makes the Optimus L9 more convenient to use, the smartphone's control buttons aren't perfect. The Home button is thin and is located almost flush with the body. At first, this annoyed me (as in the Samsung Galaxy S III Mini), it was so thin that you had to hit it with your fingertip. But at some point I caught myself that I no longer notice the shortcomings of this form.

The other two control buttons, as usual, touch. With the illumination of the icons turned off, they are completely invisible on the case, but, in principle, it is impossible to miss them.

By the way, another difference between this model and the flagship 4X HD is that there are no ribbed plastic inserts on its side faces, they are smooth, with a “metal-like” coating. If you inadvertently put your smartphone in a puddle of coffee on the table, for example, you will have to wipe it thoroughly.

The 4.7-inch handsome smartphone screen, although it has a rather small resolution of 540x960 pixels for its size, still surpasses the younger models in terms of pixel density. Of course, the geeks will creak with displeasure, the Galaxy Nexus (gray for the same money) has an HD screen resolution, and those models that have 540x960 often have a diagonal of 4.3 inches and, accordingly, a higher pixel density. And if you look closely, the pixels on the L9 screen will still be noticeable. But this is far from such a heartbreaking sight, which is, for example, the screens of LG Optimus L7 and LG Optimus L5. And if you remember the cost of the device and the length of the diagonal, then the claims for resolution disappear. Moreover, the screen is of high quality, it catches the eye instantly. Saturated and pleasing to the eye colors, high brightness, wide viewing angles - all this gives the screen an IPS matrix.

In an attempt to test the Optimus L9 screen for damage resistance, we at the editorial office tried to scratch it. It was not possible to do this on purpose. True, it later turned out that there was already a small scratch on the screen, we somehow didn’t notice it right away.

Performance, autonomy and interface

This time I have no complaints about the performance of the L-series smartphone. It corresponds to the category of smartphones to which it belongs. this model. The interface literally flies under the fingers, applications of different gluttony open and close quickly, work smoothly.

The results of performance tests confirm personal impressions of the work. By the number of points scored in AnTuTu, Optimus L9 shows one of best results among dual-core smartphones that have been in the editorial gg, the same can be said about NenaMark2. The Vellamo browser performance test result is also quite good, but it is somewhere on par with the competition (with the possible exception of Android 4.1 models, in particular the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, which significantly outperform Anroid 4.0 devices in this test).

The smartphone is equipped with a 2150 mAh battery, despite this, it is not necessary to talk about amazing autonomy. As a result, the user will receive the same standard day or two of work, depending on the activity of using resources.

Those who will probably be interested in the hero of this review are those who find the Optimus 4X HD too expensive and the Optimus L7 weak. Optimus L9 will be an excellent alternative to the flagship model, which is quite productive (albeit with two cores), but with an acceptable price and a lower screen and camera resolution.

The smartphone is equipped with a camera that takes pictures with a resolution of 2592x1944 pixels and shoots video at a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. If a subscriber from the black list calls, he hears short beeps, as if the number is busy, but nothing happens on the smartphone itself. There is no first beep, no visual alerts, as it was with third party programs on Android 2.3. At the same time, in the list of calls, such a call is displayed as rejected, that is, you still see who exactly called.

The system also has the ability to configure different profiles that are switched on a schedule. The possibilities are quite meager, but they allow you to turn off the sound of the call and messages in right time, leaving only vibration or cutting it out. I think that for most users this is more than enough.

There is an application QuickMemo, with which you can take screenshots of the screen by pressing and holding the two volume keys for a few seconds. Also, using the program, you can take notes directly on the screen and save them as pictures.

This version of the firmware also does not have various add-ons such as pre-installed clients of various social networks, many programs from LG. Perhaps someone really needed them, but many rooted the phone and sawed them mercilessly in order to free up the resources of an already not very productive smartphone for more necessary things.

On the forums, many complain about the batteries in sleep mode - in 99% of cases this is due to Wi-Fi being constantly on. By default, it is enabled in the settings even in sleep mode and you need to disable it manually if you do not need it. I specifically measured - for 2.5 hours, that the phone was in sleep mode, interrupted by a couple of short calls, the battery charge dropped by only 1%. By the way, now the system has a function to display the charge as a percentage, which I personally have always lacked and had to look for third-party solutions. In the operating mode, I did not notice that the battery ran down particularly actively, but perhaps someone will really see the difference in power consumption.
